very comfortable, good cushion but not a responsive cushion. I feel these are a really good training shoe as after running 40ish miles in a week and then running a 10k in my rincon the effort felt much less.

the footwear is lite and supportive and has an attractive style, however I do not like the tongue straps which makes the tongue itself to short

I like the style and the feel. I've been inserting this shoe into my running rotation, but every time I use them, I get blisters on the instep of both feet. I'm hoping it's just going to take time to break them in a little bit more.

Had fun with this one! Big heel didn't do much for me, but I had fun trying it out on some of the large Seattle downhills. Wide toe bed and could've ordered a size down. Use it for mid distance, as this Hoka doesn't have the typical Hoka cushion you might be use to. Lightweight is a huge plus, but also makes it less durable. Outer is already showing wear after 50 miles. Super fun to play around with this shoe.

Heard about Homs through Strava. Tried them out and find them good quality for my runs!

This is a great trainer. I've put about 50 miles on these and note the toe box is a little bigger than expected, resulting in potential for blisters on runs in excess of 10 miles. I'm trying inserts to soak up the extra space and the jury is still out if this will help. Also, with the inserts, it makes inserting my foot into the shoe way more difficult.
Good padding, light weight, and tread design looks more durable than Cliftons which have been my "Go to" for the last 4 years.

I don't feel the difference in the Edge vs the regular Clifton.

I have worn just about every single iteration of the Clifton since its inception. For some of the models I have been a repeat buyer at least once if not two or three times (ie. Clifton 1, 5, and 6). The toebox got a bit tight on the 2 and the 4, but other than that, the Clifton has been my go-to shoe for years now. So when the Edge came out and I noticed I still had a gift certificate left from Christmas, I decided I should see what the hype was about.
Overall, it has been a fun shoe. I'm not sure why it is even called a Clifton though. The fit around your foot is similar but that's really where it ends. This is really a much lighter and snappier shoe. I chew through the rubber on my regular Cliftons at a rate so fast I picked up a lawn mowing job to support my purchasing of a new pair every two months or so. The Edges have basically no rubber and I started chewing threw them very quickly. In my mind they are NOT a daily trainer. They are for the days when you want to get a little faster, like a tempo or fartlek day or a race. Save the regular Cliftons for your daily training. If you grab a pair of Edges make sure you have a daily trainer as well. I'm not sure if the extended heel really makes a difference on the downhills, but again, the Edges are snappy and light and feel good moving along at a tempo or marathon pace. Baby them, save them for fast days, and have a daily trainer so they will last.

I pre-ordered these shoes with great hopes for a positive experience. I have been exclusively in Hoka Cliftons since January and have 4 different ones that I run in and rotate through. My son has been running in Hoka's for 3 years and I finally decided it was time. My experience with the Clifton line has been very good and I've since put my wife in a couple pairs as well as my 6'7" college football playing son in a pair of Gaviota's due to his pronation and need for stability at his size and weight. Basically I love Hoka. But the Edge....unfortunately not so much. (I'm 5'11", 180 lbs)
I run anywhere from 25-40 miles a week, varying from concrete bike paths to cushioned track surfaces. My first run was suppose to be a 10 mile easy run, but after 5.5 I had to stop. The foot opening of the upper is shaped such that it rubs in ways that caused major irritation. Additionally the material of the tongue was also rubbing badly. I run wearing compression ankle socks. The next day I took the Edge to the track and did 8x200, 4x400, and 3 different mile repeats. The sprints were all at sub-6 minute mile pace.
As far as the ride: I really enjoyed the wider base that seemed to create just a bit more stability which made for a very comfortable feel. The Edge was nice and stable. But the rubbing is just not bearable. I changed socks in hopes of a better feel...no luck. So after 10 miles and various training activities I am returning mine. It the opening fit my foot better, I would be keeping these shoes. Hopefully the Clifton 7 has an opening like the 6 or I'm in trouble trying to find a shoe that won't rub so excessively. At 53, I can't skip too many days of not running just due to shoes because I don't know how many healthy days I have left....and Hoka absolutely helps me keep on running in ways no other shoe does.

These shoes feel good, but are not my favorite trainers. I really liked the idea of a light weight trainer that can push to marathon lengths, but overall I feel pretty medium about these. They are pretty light and breathe well, but walk a line between cushioned and responsive that never really does either as well as it should for me. These are smooth shoe to run in, they turn over and transition pretty well, but never seem to encourage picking up the pace. Another thing I dislike is the upper's stiffness, though some may enjoy this. The shoes feel a little clunky, not heavy, but just a little large. Overall I don't hate this shoe but it could use a little tweak in the foam formula and a slightly more forgiving upper.

The Clifton Edge is comfortable, but it's just a bit clunky for my running style. I've given it a couple of weeks and have chosen to go back to my previous pair of running shoes.

I've been running is Asics Gel Nimbus for the last 10 years. Saw great reviews about the fit and cushioning in the Hoka Clifton Ege. I decided to try the Hokas. What I like about the Hoka is the sock like tounge. Easy to slip on and snug around the top of the foot. Unfortunately the Hoka Clifton Edge isn't nearly as cushioned as the Nimbus. If you are truly looking for a cushioned trainer, I'd point you toward the Nimbus. Quick note on sizing....most recommend a sizing up a 1/2 size on the Hoka Clitfton Edge, I sized up a full size. I'd say the Hoka is in between a 1/2 to a full size up. I probably would have been OK sizing up a 1/2 size; but it might have been snug.

I'm a transplant recipient and diabetic (onset from transplant). This is my 4th pair of Hoka's purchased... My 1st paid was the Clifton 7, then the Rincon 3, the Clifton 8 and most recently the Clifton edge... Everyone has they're unique distinction that sets them apart from one another. I personally like the Clifton 7 and 8 best as they assistant my neuropathy to the fullest however, all 4 of the Hoka's I own are the most comfortable shoes that I have EVER worn!!!

I had tried a couple of different models of Hoya with mixed success. Loved the Cavu, especially V2. Hated the Mach and Rincon. After much research and wanting combo of long day protection without bulky feel, I decided to try the Clifton Edge. Unfortunately, like Rincon and Mach, the Edge delivers plenty of protection but not much else - no energy return, bulky on my narrow foot, and mostly just a ho-hum shoe. I'll use for recovery miles and occasional hill repeat, but not much else. Nor will I get sucked into Hoka vortex again.

I have been using Edge for about a month, and the bottom sole wears out quite fast. I think it might have to do with the material used in Edge. Cliffton 8 material might last longer.

Let me start by saying I am not a runner, I am a walker. I walk about 4 miles per day, quickly. I like Hoka shoes, but am afraid this model is too narrow. This is the second model I've purchased that run narrow. I have narrow feet, so if I find the shoe narrow, I'm quite surprised they don't get more complaints about the lack of space in the toe box. After this pair, I will either look outside of Hoka for my next pair of shoes or go back to the Arahi, which seems to have a more generous toe box. I'm afraid of purchasing a wide model as I know my heel and mid-foot will be all over the place. They just seem to run narrow in the toe box.

Pretty sure they cut corners on the length of the laces, not long enough to lace lock like my last pair of cliftons.

An ideal shoe for everyday miles except for one thing: the thin material of the tongue cuts your ankle like a dull knife. This is preventable, of course, if you only wear tall socks or cover your ankles with bandaids, but if you're out of either remedy then you better have a back-up shoes at the ready!

Overall, the shoe is nice. I would caution anyone coming from Nike, Adidas, etc. that you may want to size down a half size or a full size. The toe box and overall length of the shoe is BIG and because the toe box is wider than a typical Nike shoe, I think a smaller size would help me feel more comfortable.
