Good hiking build on the Speedcross frame, but needs more eyelets; doesn't tighten enough across the tongue. However, not having to tie boots with a traditional lacing system is a huge timesaver and convenience in difficult conditions. Next version could be perfect!

These are very comfortable. Run big. I enjoyed these boots did a 6mile hike in them. Only issue for me is the ankle support. No matter how tight i pull the quick lace is does not tighten up the ankle area. I have speedcross 5 shoes and i feel like they wear similarly. If you're looking for boots with ankle support these ain't the ones. If Salomon developed a quick lace system that wrapped the ankle i would demo it.

I could give them 5 stars but I do prefer the lace up style that was the previous model. Loved the old ones, did section hiking on the AT in ME., Spartan races and really enjoyed them in those different settings. The sole of the new model is also different, so far so good though. We'll see at the Killington Beast in September!

The laces are wirey and are tightened with a cord lock that doesn't stay tight all the time so that's a minus. Plus one lace eyelet catches the laces and makes it very difficult to loosen them. Overall though these shoes were a wonderful buy. Just went on my first hike with them today!! They are comfortable, give your feet room to move a little, and I'm impressed with how light weight they are and the rugged sole they have. Very high quality.

Comfortable. Good Support. Maybe its the Goretex, Too hot to wear in Summer. The Draw string should have a place to put it I just tuck in the side of the shoe at my ankle. I do like the boot very much

Comfortable.Seems to have really good traction. My only complaint is it seem like the top latch should be a little higher. When you pull string tight I don't feel a lot of ankle .support.Still seems like a good shoe though. I've only hiked a couple times in them

It took me a while to find it, but you can tuck the quick lace ends under the flap on the front of the tongue.(with the 'S' on it).

Where to put the drawstring ends. To long to leave loose and not tucking inside boot

So, only had these 2 days, 2nd day of wearing them was in a field doing gun dog training in the rain.
Had a pair of gaiters on but still had some dampness both feet, both inner and outer damp up by the tongue where it joins the boot. This I believe is may be an issue as the tongue join is a little low from the top of the boot.
The lacing system seems fine at present and aside from the above mention the rest of my feet remained dry. Very early days yet as can be seen and I will update in the near future once I have worn them several times in different scenarios.

I bought these 2 months ago as well... A cross hike boot I do my morning and evening runs and I hike in the western slopes of washington they are a great spring/summer time boot would not recommend for a rainy season they are some what water resistant I also went to my local retailer for fit and the boa system is sweet

So I did alot of research on so many different boots and brands. Im glad I went with these, so light and comfortable. No breaking in needed. The major reason I went with these was the tread, and it does not disappoint. Great grip going downhill and on rocks! Cons, there is a clunking noise with every step from toe crease, but not of significance. Also, the quickstrap do tend to loosen up over time. Like others suggested, could use another loop for strings. Happy with purchase.

I have had these boots for two months. Even though they are not meant for winter, i use them for walking my dog on trails in Yukon Canada. I bought a half size bigger and they fit perfectly even with a heavier sock. The grip and feel of these boots are fabulous. Even in snowy conditions these boots work! The sole design ensures that the snow does not stick. The lacing however is suspect. When I tighten them down they do loosen off after about two minutes of walking??

I finally unpacked these beautiful looking hybrid hikers, I'm familiar with this type of lacing system from my snowboard boots so it was easy to adjust a comfortable fit on the first shot. Immediately the lightness was apparent so off to my local coastal trail I went with much enthusiasm, initially grip was great on the mostly descending trail it wasn't till I got on the rock part of the trail is where I think more ankle support could be used as the very uneven, and unstable, surfaces stretched the limits of this shoe. I also noticed that tiny stones can easily be funneled in and thus having to stop for emptying small debris, but that was minimal. Off the rock and onto ascending dirt is where this hiker shined so overall I'm pleased with these and look forward to more miles!

I ordered red and black.... didn’t have in black. They looked sharp and fit great except for the toe area was too long. Almost as if they sent 14’s with size 13 label. I have found that even the best shoe companies can’t always make shoes bigger with no issues. If it looks, feels, and fits great in size 10 that same shoe in a 13 or 14 may look funny and not fit . Also I thought I would get away with using as work boots like most trail boots but they were closer to cleats and just were designed for the trails
I'd also recommend:
Timberland or danner

Great idea to turn a Speedcross into a hiking boot but needs more. Other reviews said needs another eyelet for cinching laces tighter. I very much agree. Otherwise nice boot and very grippy on mud, ice and snow. I haven't added a orthotic to these yet so hopefully will help with the sloppiness I have had going up a half size.

I got these boots a month ago, hoping to use them for hiking. Unlike most other Salomons I own, they are a bit bigger and less supportive. I have to pull the laces super tight to keep my foot from moving around in the shoe. Also, despite being a mid-height shoe, there is virtually no ankle support.
