finally a shoe that isn't super narrow. i was concerned if the shoe would fall apart or if my feet would hurt from no drop. shoe lasted longer than i expected and i got hundreds of miles before needing to replace, and my toes don't feel cramped and sore when coming back from runs. I haven't had any issues with feet or ankle issue and am running pain free. As thin as the shoe appears, i don't most of my running on blacktop and they've held up great.

I run 2 to 15 miles in my 2.5s and love them. Tremendous improvement over the 2.0s. The 2.5s are roomier, more breathable and a breeze to run in. Even ran a technical 24k trail race in them (worked fine) probably should have worn my Altra Superiors though. So very thankful for the improvements in the 2.5s.

I have now run over 50 miles in these shoes both on road and trail. Soles are too light for trail running, so probably THE best road running shoe I have owned in 30 years of competitive running.

Gift for my husband who wears only Altras and has for years. He switched to another Altra model once, but requested the Escalante again. He has narrow feet but the generous toe box etc is not a problem for him.

Had a pair of Escalante's and wore them clean out. Was wearing Escalante 2's as replacements. I like the fit and feel of the 2.5's, similar to the originals. Great for wide feet!

I am a competitive marathoner, and I have absolutely loved the fit and function of this version of the escalante for a variety of my road workouts! I like that the heel portion has slimmed down a bit, and the toe box is wonderful. I wouldn't recommend for power lifting, because yeah, this is a running shoe, not a power lifting shoe. Some reviews mentioned that. If you plan on using this shoe for running, I think you'll love it just as much as me.

for walking. Have a worn out pair I refuse to toss --- tape the toes. Love the new ones.

Took a day to break in but then felt like a completely different shoe. Very light, excellent "bounce" (perceived energy return with foot strike) and comfortable.

New escalate feels like the one from a few years ago. It's like a sock. It's fantastic.

When I look for a shoe I look for something I can "trust" for the long run. This is a shoe I can trust to hold up, whether I add extra miles because Im pushing it, or because Im lost haha.

Just like running in your favorite pair of slippers. This is my second pair with maybe 20 - 30 more to come. DO NOT change a thing on your Escalante 2.5s. If you intend to make any changes, drop me a line so I can by 25 of them up, will ya?! Thanks or for your excellent engineering.

From walking to Riding my bike, I love these shoes. The width is great and feels snug fit to my feet, theyre bit heavy, light to walk in. Plus it's my last name ESCALANTE! I'd actually love to be a brand ambassador if possible, send me all the Escalante colors hahahah

Great shoes. I love the toe box room and top 5 pair of shoes I have ever ran in. Will most likely buy a second pair just in case they change the shoe before I wear these out.

I have a casual office, with the neutral gray color I bought these to wear to work most days. Incredibly comfortable. Having worn these a lot the last few weeks it feels weird to wear any shoe that isn't zero drop. The wide toe box is good too, however it feels like it the shape wasn't fully thought out. There is lots of room to move my big toe, as it is extra roomy there, however on my little toe, they could use a little more room on that side to true have a free toe movement feel.

I have been an Altra user for years. The escalante line (with the exception of the 2.0) has been the best all time road shoe I have ever ran in. The only downside is the somewhat lack of durability compared to some of the other shoes on the market. But you won't find a more comfortable sole to run in that still has the zero drop and standard for at the rear foot with wide "foot shaped" toe box.

I have tried the Instinct twice and I think the sizing is off. Maybe it is just me. The Escalante is sized better for me. I wore out one pair and my new ones are great! I can wear a slightly heavier pair of socks (wool in my case)to keep my feet warm in the winter. They are wide for me because I am a woman with narrow feet(size 12 1/2) but I can lace them tight around my arch and my toes can be free to breathe. I have tried other brands that say they have a wide toe box but no go. I do put a different insole in because I need more cushioning and a little arch support as I have arthritis in my feet.

Outstanding shoes. I’ve run in Altras for the last two years and this shoe is incredible. Comfortable, perfect cushioning, zero-drop, nice size toe box for longer runs, looks great (I got the gray ones). The only think to consider is they’re not as stable as other shoes on uneven surfaces due to the material used on the top.

Not as good as running barefoot, but the first shoe I've tried that naturally allows me to run like I do without shoes.

I've run in escalantes/racers for many years. The orig escalante upper was too flexible and sole was too squishy. The esc 2.5 feels very much like the orig racer but fixed the mesh so better all year.
