It’d take more than a shoe to make me feel awesome but thanks for suggesting so. I’ve only worn a few times but really like. For some reason I’m self conscious about bright yellow color which is totally stupid and something I never care about.
I'd also recommend:
Brooks Pure flow but now extinct. Altra Toru?. Sauconys with 4mm drop

Love these shoes. Plenty of room for my toes to breathe. Crazy comfortable. I already bought another pair. Keep making new designs and colors so I can buy more.

Honestly I never leave reviews but I'm sick of all these nerds complaining. I'm 5'10 185 Lbs and I've never ran better w the zero drop. But this model in particular is ready out the box! Lasts 300m

At age 65, I walked the 500 mile Camino in Spain with these magical shoes- no blisters, no turned ankles, just ease with each step. No one else seemed to breeze through the trek with no foot issues. My Altra's are comfortable and feel so natural. I only buy Altra's now for my hiking and running! I recommend them to everyone I meet.

OK, I was not happy with the Escalante 2.0. The sock-like feel was not there and my feet went numb during running. I bought many pairs of 1.5 models on the internet in hope of an improved shoe. Qualified and ran Boston with the 1.5 model. Then they disappeared and fortunately Altra came out with a new shoe. Well done. The 2.5 is a lot closer to the original Escalante. Thanks to Altra for listening to their customers. Let's see how these new Escalantes work out.

Absolutely love the escalante racer but I'm a heavy runner (216 lbs) and I'm trying to increase mileage so the extra cushion is helpful and doesn't feel too bulky.

I wear it all day in a hospital setting. Light weight, comfortable , and perfect amount of sole height. I wear a custom insert, it fits perfectly and isn't noticeable from the exterior. Plans to convert it to a running shoe during the spring. Highly recommend

Thank goodness they feel like escalantes again. Not quite the slipper like quality of the pre 2.0 shoes, which might be a good thing. Loving them. Random niggle: noisy road sounds.

First, I hope altra fired everyone who designed that blister inducing mess in v2.0.
To answer couple of negative reviews:
1. Blister due to rubber lining: This is incorrect. A gripping substance is not going to cause blister. What actually happened was that the lining gripped to your sock and the hard, terrible upper of the v2.0s rubbed against your skin. 2.5 fixes that with the sock uppers. I am confident of this because I used blister reducing tapes on v2.0 and didn't mess with the lining. I also don't have any blisters after 3 runs in this thing.
2. Sizing: The sizing is exactly as v2s. It should be since it's the same last.
This shoe is perfect. The lining could be better. I do think Altra should give coupons to everyone who bought that v2 mess.

I use these shoes for training and races. I highly recommend rotating shoes. Multiple days in row with the same pair will significantly reduce the longevity of the sole. I switched to rotating through multiple shoes and sole / ride of the shoe was significantly increased.

First, I have slightly wider feet than average and a less than average arch. I've tried other running shoes and most of the high end running shoes, Brooke's, Hoka, Asics, Nike, etc... I expect that when I buy a pair of expensive running shoes that I shouldn't feel the need to rip out the insole and replace it as I have been advised to do.
With these shoes, I've enjoyed running more than ever. I'm in the military and run usually short distances (3 to 5 miles) with sprints throughout. At 50 years of age, and having previously (May 2019) broken my 5th Metatarsal and my Lateral Malleolus (part of the Fibula) in a single basketball injury, I was worried about support. However, after running near daily for two months in these shoes, I feel stronger and confident. My feet do not feel hot or tired. These shoes feel as if they were custom made for my feet, and running in them has been a pleasure.
Everyone's feet are different so they're not for everyone, but I'm loving that after all these years, I've finally found what works best for me.

Purchased these for my 87 year old Grandfather. He loved the last pair of Altras I got him, but those were discontinued. He says they're so comfortable he could sleep in them. I feel it's important for his balance to have a wide toe box and no heel lift, but he likes some cushioning.

The Escalante 2.5 has surpassed my expectations for a running shoe. I started with the 1.5 and skipped the 2.0 due to poor reviews and suggestions to not even try. When the 2.5 released they were purchased immediately. I've put about 400 miles in on my first pair, all road miles with a mix of hard workouts and runs up to 12 miles. I have about 90 miles on my second pair that have been used on both firm hard packed single track trails and muddy single track trails with runs up to 13-14 miles. If you know how to corner, the looser shoe is not a big issue on trails but you may want to switch to a stiffer/tighter shoe if you have trouble with rolling your ankle or a narrow/low volume foot.

I have been running oil Escalante's now since their introduction and have always favored them. Like all running shoes, they have evolved to very to meet a variety of needs, but these have been a bit of a return to the original form. The cushioning/firmness mix is there, I have no break in with these like I thought I needed with the 1.5 and 2.0. It's simplicity is it's virtue. I'll stick with these until I can't run anymore!
