I would like the shoe if I didn't already need a new pair. The excitement I had for them has faded to nothing as the craftsmanship is well below expectations.

I have been wearing the shoes to work for four months so basically very light use however the soles are starting to peel. I would expect better quality at this price.

The outer tread started to peel away from the sole. When I contacted support, I was instructed to send back. No fix, no replacement, just send back. I would never run if giving up that quickly.

Couldn't be more disappointed with the new escalante 2.5. Altra claims they improved the shoe but what they actually did in my opinion is ruined a good shoe. No heal structure, flimsy sole, no struct

i got these and began to run on them. i didn't run too far, but i ran heel first. i didn't know they would ruin my knees, but they did. moderate cushioning is not that. it's hard.

I bought these to replace my Torin 4s which were discontinued. Unfortunately the fit of the shoe is completely different; way too loose around the forefoot and the heel. I am very disappointed. If this was my first experience with Altra I would not go back; but fortunately I have other Altras that fit much better.

Very comfortable in the store...on the road...not so much. Ive never had plantar fasciitis. After a single, three-mile run I have it now thanks to Altra. I hoped the shoes would at least be suitable for HIIT workouts but noplantar fasciitis flairs up every time.

Altra had it right with the 2.0. They ruined the 2.5 Escalante shoe. I've purchase about 10 pair of the 2.0 and returned the New 2.5 after one hour. Terrible!

Here we go again, another great shoe the "Escalante 2.0" is ruined by so called updates or improvements. I feel what Altra has done to the Escalante 2.5 is that they've cheapened it under the guise of improvements. Feels and wears worse than a cheap shoe from Payless. I've now scoured the earth looking for what's left of the 2.0 on the market. Once they run out I am done with Altra. I've recommended Altra to many friends over the years but unfortunately I can no longer do so.

I recently purchased some Lone Peak 5's and love them. Therefore, I thought the Escalante's would be the perfect shoe for my road runs; Unfortunately, the Escalante 2.5's are not as high quality. After just 2 weeks of ownership, the sole has begun to tear below the right metatarsal. I have never experienced this with any other running shoe. It is especially surprising considering that I rotate my shoes and have only worn the Escalante's on five or so runs.

The loved the Escalante 1.5, after the first week in them, I bought a second back up pair. I just got the new 2.5 2 days ago and the toe box isn't as wide and for some reason the bottoms of my feet burn after about 2 miles into a run.Very disappointing. I'll be returning them tomorrow and trying the Rivera

I used the product for sprints, olympic weightlifting and power lifting. Here's the problem, I cannot continue those hobbies without these floppy shoes getting in the way. Way too squishy, with no hold whatsoever. The knit upper is a joke, you cannot hold your feet down in these. With the laces super tight, my feet literally fly out of the shoes when I tried to push a sled, flip a tire or ignite during sprints. They are better off as slippers. This company values quantity over quality, so if you put out a lot of teasers that suck, you can have one decent shoe come out of nowhere and people throw their money at it. (Like I did). Zero drop just isn't worth the hassle anymore.

The new 2.5 version escalante lost the heel cup support and top lace holes...therefore you can no longer lock your laces...I returned the 2.5 version pair that I bought from Sole Sports in Phoenix AZ before Xmas. BTW I buy a new pair every fours months and walk 5 - 7 mile a day... and even wear them to the office...It was a terrific shoe that never needed to be remodeled or redone!!! It appears that others agree with me according to your reviews

I absolutely love the ways these look and feel but overpronation and these don't mix. There isn't any support and just look horrible while wearing.

I was a big fan of the 1.5, but the Escalante 2.5 was a big disappointment for me. The new knit upper was very loose, and I couldn't get a secure fit around the ankle at all. I could move my foot around quite a bit. Tying the laces tighter didn't do anything except put a lot of pressure on the top of my foot. The toe box was very large. I like to have plenty of toe room, but this was weirdly large and my toes were moving around quite a bit. Aside from the upper the bottom felt pretty similar to the 1.5--just a little bit heavier and less flexible.

Do you remember when altra made foot shaped, zero drop, neutral running shoes that were unique from anything else on the market? Are your feet maybe a bit wider so you liked the fact that you didn't have to order a wide size and they would still fit? Did you spend a lot of time changing your gait to adapt to zero drop and quit heel striking? Get a time machine, and go back and time and buy an Escalante 1 or 1.5, because these are not for you. I kept hoping, after the mess that was the 2.0, they'd find their way back. These (in size 13) are literally 1/2" narrower than the 2.0. They are pointy like a pair of nikes. What happened? Did too many people buy these and not understand what they were about and then complain to altra about it? It's like everything that made altra's unique is now gone. I've had probably 25 pairs of escalantes, this is probably my last if I can find something else.
