Get a half to a full size bigger for true comfort.

This is an amazing shoe that I decided to get it again after 600 miles. I almost waited for the 3.0, but I decided to stick with what I knew I liked. I love them! I always pick a half size bigger than my usual shoe size and it fits great. Highly recommend these while we wait for the verdict of the 3.0.

Best made shoes I've ever had!!! Bought several of the Escalante model. Love the shoe, the fit, the feel. Hate the aesthetic changes to the stitching however, and especially hate the color choices now offered. My favorite was the blue offered on the Escalante 1 and 1.5. Why, why, why change something which is so good??? I've still got a couple of pairs in storage - wish I'd bought a few more! This is why I now buy several of any kind of clothing that I come to like. I stockpile them and can go for years without buying again. I get to wear what I like, and I save money in the long run! The best way to live! I've got a lifetime supply of socks, undies, shirts, nylon travel attire, etc. Got a lifetime supply of a lot of hard goods too! Can we say inflation-proof! LOL

I have one everyday pair for when I'm trying to give my feet some break from barefoot and minimalist shoes. It's awesome for that purpose, and I truly believe there isn't a single other shoe that would do this job better. I also have another pair just for running, and it again is my favorite running shoe when I'm trying to give my feet a break. The ONLY negative about this shoe is that since the sock-like upper has essentially no support, changing directions or doing dynamic movements isn't as responsive as it could be. But besides that this is an awesome shoe. I have a narrow heel and wide forefoot so the shape is perfect too.

Great shoe, nice wide toe box. I bought these for weight training and walking and so far they are fantastic. Very comfortable, light and soft on the bottom of my feet.

I purchased the Escalante 2.5. These are my first pair of Altra's after years in other brands (Nike, On, Brooks) and I will never go back! These running shoes have thin soles but are incredibly padded for a light, supported run. Highly recommend these shoes for anyone who likes a minimal shoe.

Altra is the best shoe for me. I've used all the other brands, but Altra is by far the best for my needs. Light, comfortable, durable . . . excellent!

So, I suffer from gout and have been looking for a comfortable shoe with a wide toebox. I have spent years looking, and have finally found the best shoe for me in the Escalante.

Great to be with you guys. The balanced cushion is astounding. It has lengthened my Achilles and changed my legs and feet into better physical performers. I am happy with these shoes. A new version I would love to see is one built for athletic maneuvers. This upgraded version needs outers / or uppers that grip to your foot and to the cushion and midsole, and won't ever want to slide out or away from the balanced cushion, letting your foot go with it when you maneuver hard. Hope this helps with a new launch !

Run at least 10-25 miles a week in these shoes. Love the wide toe box and zero drop feel. Give the benefits of barefoot running with plenty of cushioning.

The Escalante 2.5 is getting back to the original with many things, both good and bad. The soft flexible midsole is back!!! The stretchy unstable upper is back... don't turn a corner too fast because you will roll your ankle. The Escalante 2.5 is short to mid distance trainer. It is very flexible which promotes building foot strength. It is very comfortable. This is not a shoe for being aggressive in because there is no structure in the upper and it is a very high volume shoe. My first pair (gray) is a size 12 (my standard size in Altra) and they are to long, but I still wear them and keep in mind that they will be sloppy. My second pair (blue) is a 11.5 and I still have them cinched as tight as they can go and don't have to untie them to put them on. Durability is great! My gray pair have 330 miles on them and should easily go to 500 which would be, by far, the most I have ever got out of a pair of Altras.

One of the most comfortable shoes that I have ever worn. Have worn several styles for multiple activities including daily office wear, running, hiking, and going out. Strongly advise the shoes...

This shoe wants to go fast. The toe box is perfect. The shoe is light and responsive and feels better when running at faster speeds. Definitely my favorite Altra shoe I've ever had. The only slight downside is the upper is a bit stretchy. I've noticed my feet slide forward when running down hill. Once the road levels back out, your feet go back. I will be getting a second pair.
