The shoes were too small for my feet even though they were a full size bigger than what I normally wear

Very uncomfortable. I usually love Merrell, but this product was very disappointing.

I have loved brooks running shoes for over a decade.
I usually stick with the cascadia or ghost models.
I Was excited to try a more padded option - these.
I ordered black which was very sleek looking.
The padding inside felt comparable to hoka one one's.
Very impressive.
1 HUGE PROBLEM THOUGH- the rubber on the toe box is FLAT. I tried them on and BOTH SHOES had pretty intense PRESSURE ON BOTH BIG TOE NAILS. I had my sister try them on and she felt the pressure too.
I've already lost a toe nail from hiking boots, and didn't want it to happen again. I honestly feel if I had walked 5 miles in these, BOTH big toe nails would have fallen off. Way too much pressure..
I sent them back for refund. I think if brooks went back to a normal toe box like the cascadias, on this model it would be a whole new ball game..

But everything about it is just so wrong. I have a pretty flat foot, no sign of a high arch, and I like a roomier toe box, which is why I've been buying Merrell's for quite a few years now. But with these, where the tongue attaches to the shoe, there's this band of fabric that holds the tongue in place, that's got no give at all, and it's low. It's so low that it's actually painful. The way that the laces are placed near the top also cut into the top of the foot, and there's no way to adjust that, so I'm left leaving them tied super loose to try to alleviate the pain, but because that band doesn't flex at all, it's not much help. The toe box is roomy, the only good thing bout this shoe, although I do find it slightly longer than it should be in my usual 8.5 size. And the tall heal guard that's supposed to prevent hot spots - so if you do any activities that require you to bend your ankle back, like kneeling, or driving even (pressing the gas pedal) this gets in the way and rubs like there's no tomorrow. And lastly, and this is my fault because I should have paid more attention when ordering, but OMG the weight. These are heavy!! And not at all breathable. My feet feel swampy all the time, and it's only been about 16C so far. As I wore them straight out of the box because I needed shoes, I'm pretty much stuck with them, but I can't keep wearing these.
