I am a beginner runner but an experienced hiker and I love these shoes for both. I normally wear a size 13 or larger because I have wide feet. Normally a 13 is too long for me. With these I can wear a 12.5 very comfortably. I haven't used the shoes enough to fully test the durability but as I am very hard on shoes I can already feel these will be good for a long time. I normally wear flat shoes like Vans so these worked great right out the box. I live in the PNW where trails are very muddy at this time of year. These shoes have held up great to those conditions so far.

Hiking a wide spectrum of terrain from pavement to rocky mud and snow and for the past thirty five plus years of hiking Ut/ Colorado to the Smokies and in between I've finally found what fits my stride and how I move. Please don't ever change or discontinue these perfectly performing feet coverings! They are by far the best fitting trail runners. They're snug where they need to be so you're feet aren't sliding around and the toe box gives your toes just the right splaying room. The zero drop, insoles and weight has helped my stance, back and older body aches from heal to head. Anyway thank you for making them!

These replaced a much older pair of Lone Peaks that had served me well for hundreds of miles. I probably would have kept going on those except one of my dogs chewed a hole in the toe, and the last time I ran in slushy snow, that foot got pretty wet. Anyway, this is just a wonderful trail shoe. I have run about 30 mi in them so far and they are perfect out of the gate. I also got a pair of gatiers to help keep trail debris out on rougher runs. Looking forward to hundreds of great miles in these puppies. Another Altra win.

These shoes are great. Love the feel. Came back after switching to Hokas after running in the Altra LPs for a long time. The LP let's you feel the terrain. Self regulating when needed, super stable. Way sweeter than other other trail shoes.

First Altras I actually had to break-in. I prefer my Superior's. A really good grippy Trail shoe, comfort so-so I don't like seams inside. If I couldn't get the Superior's I would definitely go with these however they are perfect for Rocksylvania (PA)!

I hike in all conditions and have plans for the A.T. This will be what I have on my feet. From the toe box to the zero drop please don't change this trail runner.

One of the best shoes that I own. I have very wide feet and this is really comfortable. I decided to buy another pair in a different color.

The men's version of the Line Peak 4.5 has turned out to be the best light hiking shoe for my sore (female) feetthe women's sizes in almost all hiking shoes are either too narrow or the women's wides are too wide. These men's trail runners are perfect and have solved my 25-year search for the best hiking shoethey feel like you're wearing slippers and they have super grip but weigh almost nothing. I just bought a second pair to have ready when I walk the bottoms off of my first pair. I'm now hiking every day and my feet feel great. Such a great productthank you!

I have wide feet. Like super wide feet. Fallen arches. Plantar fasciitis. The plight of being a dancer/athlete/runner my entire youth. I'm a woman but have found men's shoes give me more room. Any restriction and my feet swell. These shoes are wide in front, narrow in back to keep my heel in place, light weight and a bit water resistant (not waterproof). I wear them running on the road in snowy conditions. My feet are warm and they grip the road. The only drawback is I get rubbed on my back heel but I put some moleskin on it and I'm good to go. So glad I bought these.

These are my first Altras and my first true trail shoes. But, I am a Altra runner for life. Comfortable right out of the box. Great traction on leaf and snow covered trails. Very little slipping. One area I had to get used to is the larger toe box. I have tight hips and that extra space certainly made me change my form a bit. But, that's my style. Love these shoes otherwise.

I had the original Yellow lone peaks 10+ years ago, and they have been getting better and better every year. I have the mid RSMs for hiking with my wife and dog, and run in the lows in everything from loamy trails to hardpack snowy trails at 10000ft elevation - a run I just finished and came inside to write this. The shoes are just THAT good. Perfect traction, fit, ground feel vs cushion balance. Take my money, Altra.

Usually I am frustrated with updates to the models that I already like, but Altra's updates to their Superior somehow make my perfect shoe even better! Little tweaks like the gator hook add better functionality without messing up the fit or feel.

I am a Nurse in the Operating Room and on my feet all day! I started with the Lone Peak 4, loved them. A pair for work and one for home/everyday!! So I was a little hesitant to go to the 4.5. However they are just as great! I used to wear ASICS, then Hokas. I was lucky to get 3 maybe 4 months out of a pair of shoes. Tried Altras on a friend's suggestion. Best switch I have ever made. I got 11 months out of my work pair. Between work and home on my 4th pair, each have lasted 9-11 months!! I don't foresee myself changing brands anytime soon!

I've been an Altra guy for the last two years. Aside from some wary blisters on my heel, the Lone Peak 4.5 is yet another example of why I will remain an Altra guy. Great for trail or road running.

I think these are the best models since Lone Peak started. I think they are more roomier than old models but I had lost a little weight so that could be why. I like the more rugged tacky sole as opposed to the older octagon version. I was disappointed with the 3.5 version but this way outshines that model in comfort and performance. My only other disappointment is Altra did not send out any window stickers like they used to with your purchase.

They fit right out of the box with the addition of a bit of moleskin in the heels for my very narrow heels.
