These shoes feel like slippers. They are very light, flexible and very comfortable. The grip is very good and I am looking forward to trying them on challenging smooth rock surfaces. There are aggressive lugs towards the outside of the sole which should really help on rock surfaces. These are my first zero drop shoes and I have not felt any effect on leg muscles so far but have not completed any vertical hikes with these yet.

Normally, my shoe size is 10.5. With the Altra Lone Peak I had to go up an entire shoe size for the correct fit. This is my second pair of the runners, and I really love them. I put on about several hundred miles of mainly walking mixed terrain with them and they lasted quite well until they were worn out. Highly recommend them, and suggest you go a size larger than you usually wear.

Love the spring and support in these shoes. Walked over rocks and could hardly feel them. These are my first pair of Altra and I’m definitely a fan so far!

For this version I needed a 1/2 size larger. Otherwise the width was fine and the shoe feels wonderful. I look forward to hiking in these trail runners.

I love my Altra shoes. Have been buying 4.0 for about 3 years, now to 4.5.

These shoes are great. The fit well, are really comfortable, and break in quickly. Broke these in with a 5 mile hike wearing 30 pounds through some really muddy terrain and I didn't even need to get out my microspikes. Best shoes for the trail I've owned.

Comfortable out of the box. I'll probably use them for every day casual.

I use this as an everyday shoe for international travel. I just finished 6 months touring Europe and only had this one pair of shoes and a pair of flip flops. I explored 18 countries in my Lone Peaks. I used them to backpack to the top of Norway. Walking in the rain for two days. They did great but got soaked. I know this is way beyond the scope of this shoe but they did well and they dried out really fast once inside with the footbeds removed. I just got the mid hight version that is more waterproof and I can't wait to get them on a trail soon. Thanks, Altra for making this highly versatile shoe. PS. the Zero Drop in the Altra cured my Plantar fasciitis. Many thanks for that!

I recently had foot surgery. This brand was recommended by my doctor. I ordered three pair and am keeping two. This pair was just slightly smaller in size than the others. I was worried they would be too big but they were actually a little smaller than expected... I ordered 11s; my last shoe was a new balance 10.5. But I am satisfied with the fit, very comfortable toe bed. They look sturdy too, which is good as they are a bit more expensive than I am used to spending.

I just bought a pair of Lone Peak 4.5's and used them on a weekend trip out in the desert. I had read mixed reviews of this specific model, but for me they were great. The fit was extremely comfortable. I have wide feet and this is the first pair of shoes I've ever had where my toes didn't feel squeezed. I walked on rock, dirt and rocky dirt and the cushioning felt just right to me--not too much so that I couldn't feel the ground at all, but plenty for the varied surfaces. My only concern is that the rubber toe cap on the left shoe has already started to peel off, and dirt and small pebbles eventually lodge in there. This worries me as to the durability of the shoes, but for now we'll see.

I like everything about this shoe except that it was a bit narrower in the midfoot than I would have preferred. It fits adequately enough to keep though, it will probably stretch out a bit over time, and a larger size would probably be too long.

Great all around cross training shoe for wide feet. I've owned ~12 pairs of these shoes and always worn a 12.5. Had to go up to a 14 because of the new hard toe feature & size 13 wasn't offered. Still recommend them

The fit was perfect. The wide toe box is wonderful and there is enough padding forultiple 12 hour days on a concrete floor.

I'm really liking this shoe. I like the wide toe box and the zero-drop design. The only complaint I have is that it feels as though the left shoe is a bit narrower in the mid-foot than the right. I can feel the outside edge of my foot slightly hanging over the edge of the insole. I'm going to try different inserts to see if this alleviates the issue. Otherwise, super comfortable shoe with a great design. Hopefully they are as durable as they appear to be.

This is my first pair of Altras and I'm really digging the fit and wide toe box. I also really like the zero drop style. Time will tell on the durability, but they seem well made and will hopefully hold up well.

These felt at least a half size smaller than the previous version of these I had (I think my old ones were series 2). I wore a 14 in the old ones and they fit great, but the new style in 14 has my toes hitting the front on the way downhill, even with the lacing as tight as possible while still comfortable. Overall I think they're great shoes. I like the improvement in the materials.

The shoes felt terrific when I tried them on. The only problem was that they ran quite small for me.

I really wanted to like these shoes. I am looking for a light trail runner with good traction. The zero drop is appealing, and the insole is nice and squishy. The Olive color was very low key. My first impression was good. The wide toe box is a bit too wide for me, but the bunion space was perfect. I’m female, and my feet measure 10.5 in women’s. I ordered these in size 9 Wide. The length was ok. Width fine. However, the tongue is gusseted with elastic, which is too tight on my high arches. Returned. The search continues...

The shoes themselves seem like they would be fantastic if the "Foot Shape" was foot-shaped. All of Altra's shoes have a weird curvature, leaving tons of extra space on the big toe side while crunching the smaller toes. (I've attached pictures here to illustrate. In the picture, you can see my big toe in the middle of the toe box.) As a result, I sometimes have to size up a half size to have enough room for my small toes. It's hit or miss. The Solstice, Solstice XT, and Superior, I wear a 10.5. I JUST fit into a Torin 10 without having to size up. I went straight to the 10.5 to these, and they just feel a bit big and clunky. I might try to go down to my normal 10, but am concerned that will mean my little toes will get squeezed. It's interesting. Altra loves talking about "giving toes room to splay!" but there's really only room for the Big Toe to "splay" (and lots of it!). There's absolutely no room for the rest of your toes to "splay". Please make shoes with enough room for the little guys too! I'll mark this as "Yes, I would recommend to a friend" but mostly just if you have curved feet and toes and your toes curve inward. If your toes point straight from your feet, you'll likely have similar issues.

Liked the look of the shoe, but unfortunately, size runs small. Since I wear a size 16, nothing for me to do but return. A distinguishing characteristic of this shoe is plenty of room in the toe box, so if forefoot is larger, this shoe will probably work for you.

This shoe is not as I expected but will give it a try. I don't like the piece that is stitched on the tongue because it makes the shoe fit tighter.

Absolutely loved these shoes on their first hike! So grippy and roomy.... really thought I found the perfect shoe. Until around mile 12 when I noticed the sole separating in two places from the shoe. I returned them and ill try the the Timp2.

I tried on a pair of size 11 Lone Peak 4.5s and compared them against my size 11 Lone Peak 4.0 (normally I'm a size 10, but in Altra I have to go up a size). The 4.5 is narrower than the 4; it is very slight, but enough to feel my two out toes being slightly restricted. The rest of the shoe did feel not as roomy as the 4s, and the 4.5's footbed felt just a little bit firmer than the 4's footbed, but it was the width in the toebox that was the main problem. This is really disappointing given that the 4.0s fit me great. I returned the 4.5.
