Excellent training and racing shoe for those needing comfort. After 50 miles, I’ve experienced zero hot spots or any signs of discomfort. These run true to size, mid sole is very comfortable and the upper has an acceptable amount of support. The heal collar is comfortable but it doesn’t offer a lock-down feel but I haven’t had any heal slippage issues, I may just have to get used to it. After running in Hokas for the past two years, I have found my new favorite shoe.

I really like these shoes they are very comfortable. Fit like a sock standing on soft cushion, but firm enough to get a good response when you make contact with the ground. Put a good 30miles On these walking mixed with running. The upper is very breathable with enough firmness that if you had to go up or down a hill your foot would not slide off of the sole of the shoes much but I would still slow down and be cautious. The inner shoes has a fabric for extra support in the mid section for more security. All in all I would say this is a indoor/ flat track shoe. The cushion on the bottom is so soft small sharp objects got stuck in the sole even plant based weed spikes got stuck in it, I don't know if I was just having an aggressive run or what but it left small impressions on the sole. All in all a good show very comfortable but for the price tag I would say use primarily in doors so they last a while.

I purchased a V9 at the same time I purchased the V10. I use this as a everyday shoe and not just a runner. If I used this shoe as only a runner, I might feel different, but I believe the V9 is a better shoe. The upper on the V9 fits better and the heal is more comfortable. With that said, the V10 is a good shoe; just not as good as a V9 in a narrow size.
I'd also recommend:
None, I only wear New Balance because of narrow size.

I read all the current reviews prior to purchasing. None of the reviews mentioned rocks getting inside the heel cup due to the elf like design. This was what came to mind when I first saw the shoe. Because I usually have a gravel road or trail as part of my road running route I was hesitant to buy this shoe. I do think the design is interesting and reflects the natural flow of a runners foot.
I purchased a pair anyway feeling the + outweigh the -. I purchased the wide version (Thankyou NB for offering widths). They fit perfectly and true to size. First run out of the gate I enjoyed the ride. 5 runs in I am singing praises of the 1080v10. Except for one thing; the ease at which small rocks get into the heel cup gives me pause in considering another pair. Be forewarned, If you run on the occasional gravel/dirt road or trail as well as pavement rocks WILL get inside the heel cup. It's a slight annoyance but because the heel cup design allows for easy on/off you can stop your run and quickly remove the rocks. Otherwise you will likely get blisters from the small rocks between the inside of the shoe and your foot.
Overall I am very satisfied with the shoe. 4 Star due to the heel cup design.

Super great running shoes. Cushy with just enough bounce back to keep the fatigue at bay a little longer so you can go a little father and a little faster.

Good for overall. Felt a bit narrow and I ordered EE. They may stretch though. Great cushioning and support.

1st New Balance Shoe Ever! Been running since at least 1978... Ran almost exclusively in Saucony Jazz to Ride to Breakthru Saucony new design causing knee pain and extreme Shin Splits..... I have 50 miles on 1080's. I would say different- as You run the shoe seems to wraps around your foot.
The shoe gives a great run with no knee pain. Really is interesting starting out and feeling the shoe break into the run with you.
The only problem is trying to run on Snow. The shoe packs with snow and you lose footing.
Running 25-30 miles a week

I've been using a 1080 V9 for long runs (10 to 14km) and More for refreshing short runs. I love the 1080 V 9, good cushioning and wide base. The V10 is a little different, the midsole is wonderful, a little harder that the V9, wish is nice (the V9 was too soft), and not so hard as the More. The shoe and toe box is a little stiff. the street makes it feel too tight in the first rides, but loses a little bit after 2 to 3 runs. It is a shoe for running, not walking, but feels a lot comfortable, but it will be a little tight in the first runs. Bottomline: like it a lot, maybe loving after some more runs.

I've run about 25 miles so far and the cushioning is great, but the price point for this shoe seems a bit too high. Also, would be nicer if the heel did not flare up and out so much, seems like more of a Nike design element rather than a functional component. Overall though, really good daily running shoe.

Here's hoping that V11 incorporates a few improvements: 1) a shorter tongue 2) a less pronounced elf shoe-like heel tab 3) a slightly deeper heel cup to accommodate orthotics and 4) a few more colors (gray). The cushioned ride is great.

I loved version 8 of the 1080 and wasn't a huge fan of version 9 (especially the heel cup)... so I was a bit nervous about spending the cash on version 10 after seeing the design change. I had no need to worry. These shoes are awesome. I was sold after the first run. One caveat: the new heel cup is (vertically) a bit short for me. My heel is locked in and snug when I use the insoles that come with the shoe. However, when I put my own insoles in, they are a tiny bit thicker and the heel isn't as snug. So I can't use them. That being said, the insoles that come with it work fine, but are not preferable.

I use these for the gym. I typically walk/jog for 45 min to an hour on the treadmill followed by weight training. I don't lift too heavy. I just try to stay in shape and keep up my strength. I find that after about 15 to twenty on the TM my feet start to cramp and ache. The shoes are not as cushioned as I would have hoped for and make it tough to get in my full cardio routine. I was used to Adidas Ultrabounce and had no foot pain wearing those. I am considering switching to another New Balance with a softer cushion.

I prefer the 1080 v9 - I have wide feet and though the width is OK, the v10 have built in stretch material to hug your foot. I don't like it; I find it a bit constricting making the show too snug, tight across the top of the foot. I prefer the v9 which allows you to lace the shoes to your preference. Also, I take a 2E and these seem less wide than the v9 2E si think because of the stretch material that hugs the foot. That said, the shoes are well cushioned and supportive. If you don't mind a snug fit it may not matter to you.

I like the feel of wearing them but the fit is too tight across the arches of my feet. Never had this problem with other shoes.

The 1080 V9 fit perfectly, I have a very narrow foot. V10 and V11 a little too wide. The extended heel is a pain when putting the shoe on, and running your heel feels like it might pull out, but I have gotten use to it. I need a 13 for my right foot, but left is only 12.5, so another issue along with my narrow foot. For me, they should have just reproduced the V9!

I would use it for running. I love the colors and design but it was a little small and tight so I will return.

Very light weight, comfortable, felt like an upgrade over the prior years in terms of comfort - all the good things you want. I'm here 9 months later and with moderate use, the heel area has torn apart to the point that I am returning to my 1080v8s. My 1080v9, 1080v8, 1080v7 all wore out in the heel with expected wear - that's not the issue. The 1080v10 heel is made of a foam (unlike the older ones), and after putting shoe on over the course of ownership, the foam has torn into many pieces. this started after month 2 or 3 but at this point they are unwearable. If you replace your shoes often then you should be fine, but for someone who can't afford to replace $150 shoes every year, I'd consider looking elsewhere.
for reference, i use the shoes as walking shoes and as running shoes.

I have always owned the fresh foam new balance. I have not purchased a new pair in a while and my past model was unavailable. I found this version of the shoe cut narrower across the arch which is unusual for my new balance purchases.
I'd also recommend:

Right size, but width, XL/EEEE was still not wide enough for me. Is there any shoe manufacturer who makes XXL/EEEEE with arch support?

I barely measure a 13 2E when I step onto one of those metal measuring devices used in shoe stores, but with these 1080v10's, a 14 4E is almost too small. I have three pairs of the v8 which has a sole that is literally a 1/2 wider in the center of the forefoot than the V10's, and although the insert is the same size in both shoes, the v10 definitely fits a lot tighter.
I think it's a little disingenuous for shoe companies to make shoes that seem so arbitrarily sized. Anyone who is a true 14 4E couldn't even get these on their feet.
On a positive note, the v10's are light and have excellent cushioning. If they were wider, I would have purchased the other colors, but I got the Brooks Ghost 13 that has equal cushioning but a wider more accommodating toe box.
And like always, 5 stars to Zappos for the excellent customer service.
