I'm 6'2" and in decent shape for a septuagenarian. I'm generally a 13 double or quad E, and I have flat feet. My goto has been New Balance. But lately my feet have wanted more padding. I gotta say, these shoes feel great, EXCEPT I found them to be too snug across the foot. If this really is HOKA ONE's extra wide, I guess they won't work for me. I'm so sorry, 'cuz I love the style and the padding and the confidence I felt jogging up and down our hallway.
I'd also recommend:
Skechers, New Balance

Love everything about this shoe, the lightness, stability, cushion, grip is perfect for the trail running I do. BUT I cannot run with low it socks. The update of the tongue from the 3 wasn't the smartest decision. It cut into my ankles, and I just gutted through a 13 mile run to find that they didn't just rub annoyingly but actually cut into my skin and I was bleeding! Definitely doesn't happen with taller socks, so I'll be more aware, but just wanted to throw it out there as a caution for anyone else!

I was a little trepidatious to try Hoka's for a long time. But I went through 4 pairs of other brands over an 18 month period and hated them all. So I broke down and got some Speedgoats. I was nervous at first that I'd be rolling my ankle thanks to the massive amount of cushion. But not so! These things are super stable, super grippy, and pretty dang comfy. I wear these on more rocky, technical trails (also got some Challenger ATRs after a while for road/dirt road runs). I'm sold. Only thing I would change is I'd like a little more cushion in the heel, to lock it down more tightly. Otherwise, great shoe for me.

Excellent grip on hill running up and down! I like the shoes would love with a padded thong! The reason I gave a four instead of a five! I'm use to the Bondi 7 and Clifton 8 which I love for road running and everyday use!

After 50+ miles of mixed trail, technical single track to rolling hard pack,I couldn't be happier with their comfort and performance. Good grip on wet rocks and muddy hill sections. Hold well in the heel and provide good protection under foot with sufficient cushioning. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is due to durability concerns, laminated protection area starting to peel slightly. We'll see how they hold up over the next 50.

Bought this shoe to pace my buddy in Leadville. I'm used to altras and the rincons. This shoe is heavier and more supportive than I'm used to. The vibram sole seems more durable than the rincon lightweight foam but it is heavier. The tread helped maintain my footing on some trails in North Carolina recently and offers comfort on the roads of south Florida. Excited to see how they perform out in colorado.

My only complaint is the sock liner being narrow, I had to get aftermarket sock liners to put in and now they feel great.

Hoka is known for cushioning and superlative sole grip, which go hand in hand. Excellent cushioning, thick soft sole that provides incredible grip. I hike a lot in NM and many a time, My Hokas have exhibited Spiderman power as I climb on and around large boulders and steep slippery slopes and pulling myself up soft talcum powder consistency dirt that often just falls away. Many a time I have made a mental note of, 'thank you Hoka!'. However, the Spiderman ability is in part due to the soft rubber grip and pattern. Which means, all this hiking on rough, sharp rocks, large and small, is very hard on the soles of the shoes. IE, the shoes wear out more quickly than a shoe with harder albeit slippery, sole. For me, paying more often for a good Hoka shoe is a necessary safety and comfort factor. Oh, also, the very thick soles do not allow the long spikes from the Ocotillo to penetrate which can be very painful and difficult to pull out.

I like the design, tread pattern, & the cushion of the insole. However I wear size 10 & 1/2 Wide & this shoe still feels too snug for my liking.

When I first put these shoes on they felt tighter then the other 2E shoes I've worn, especially when I was sitting down. Standing, they felt better but still a little tighter then the other 2E I was used to on my other Hoka shoes. After wearing them for a day they felt much better. Cushion is really nice I don't feel little rocks at all.

I've only used the shoes a few times. I'm liking them so far. Good feel of the trail and stability. Decent amount of cushion. I'm not crazy about the tongue. I'd prefer it have a bit more padding. All told, they're good shoes and I'd buy them again.

To date I've been wearing my Hoka One One shoes for local walking, which is the primary purpose of the purchase. I walk a lot, so I wanted better support than typical walking shoes. They are clearly better for my feet. I intend to try them on a NH hiking trail, but mostly I'll continue to wear my boots for hiking.

They were more comfortable and stable than I thought. I had a little soreness with the tongue and top laces but it cleared up. Love them for running and good looking too!

Extremely comfortable, light weight, good traction, and it comes in wide, which is what I need. However, with every pair I've purchased, the portion of the outsole on the outer part of the heel starts to peel back after less than 200 miles, even on mostly dirt trails. After cutting off the first few flaps, the entire outsole under the heel peels away. This has been a problem with both the Speedgoat and the Stinson, but nothing has been done about it. Either poor design, poor quality control, or a brilliant marketing strategy. If this problem were fixed, the shoe would rate six stars.

Product runs small compared to my normal leather tennis shoes (8.5D). I had to up a half size and up to a wide EE before they were comfortable. I went to a 9 EE and it fits great. On the last couple of short hikes, the tongue of the right shoe was biting a little into the top of my foot/ankle. If it continues, I'll tuck it back or get a piece of tape to lift it a bit. (or I may cut the top of the tongue back a half inch) It's a very comfortable shoe that feels like I'm walking on a sponge ball! No impact into my back at all!

I'm a supinator with bad knees so cushion is important. This shoe gives you cushion without losing grip on the trail. Best trail shoes for gravel.

These are my third pair of the Hoka speedboat 4's. This review is based off the previous pair and why I continue to purchase them. Extremely comfortable in all terrain. I run a very rooty and rocky terrain in most cases. Rocks are about fist size and tree roots are common. The shoes are very stabile and forgiving with ankle rolls. It can also be muddy on most runs and the hokas bite very well, lose little traction and are responsive. Though I've ran many long distances the longest I've ran is 23 miles at one time and the shoes were great! The only two cons are....I have is that all 3 pair have worn out in the exact same spot by 350ish miles. I final toss the shoes by 450ish. A hole begins to form right beside/behind the big toe at the bend of the toes. And on steeper descents the foot slides forward jamming the toes into the toe box more than I like.
