2nd time wearing them. Decided to tie my laces underneath the tongue since it cut my ankle. Still trying to decide if I’m going to keep them

I wore them for the first time yesterday. Biggest issue I have is the tongue is very long and cut into my ankle. I just read another review that someone else had the same problem. I’m going to try wearing them today and see if I can fold the tongue and not have it bother me. Otherwise, since I have wide feet, they were comfortable. Will see after today, if i will keep them or not.

The first was fine, I get the complaint about the thin, uneven tongue. I could get used to it since I wear ankle height hiking socks. However, although the soles are grippy the shoe did NOT provide enough cushion for my troubled foot. Please bring back the Tor Summit for my hiking needs.

Love my previous HOKAS (Bondi) but these Speedgoats are not quite as comfortable yet. Still provide a lot of cushion but pinches my metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint some.

I really liked the looks of these shoes. I’ve heard such good things about them. My toes kept going to sleep. They weren’t as wide as they looked and I had to send them back.

They run a little big and feel and look a little like plastic.

I love the speedgoat 3. I have 3 pairs. The speedgoat 4 has a longer tongue that digs in to my foot. Good cushioning. Feels wider that the 3. It's a solid shoe with lots of support, but not as good as the 3.

I'm a nurse comfort wise these shoes are amazing. However the front part of the shoe on top is coming off and I haven't had them long.. I won't buy this style again but I will purchase Hoka does for work!! My feet fell amazing

My problem is a neuroma in the ball of one foot. Even though the shoe was wide enough (too wide at the heel), something about the shape of the insole aggravated the neuroma. Obviously this would not affect most wearers.
I'd also recommend:
Brooks has been the best sneaker for me.

The right shoe was too tight across the top, at the base of the laces, even when laces were completed loose.

I tried these on at specialty running store and immediately loved the cushion and fit. The store didn't have the color I wanted, so I purchased them here online. I was so very excited when I took them out to the trails, but came home very disappointed. The tongue rubbed and cut into my ankles. Although the cushion, color and fit in the rest of the shoe hit the mark, the tongue rubbing into my ankles isn't something I'll be able to ignore. A previous reviewer suggested to those of us having a poor experience with the tongue that we just cut it. But why should we do that after paying so much and not knowing whether that will only make the edge worse? Definitely can't return them after that. Happy to hear they work for others! I'd recommend folks at least give em whirl, especially with Hoka's 30 day guarantee.

I normally wear an 8.5 in Hoka Challenger, so I bought 8.5 M in this style and my toes had plenty of room. This were just not comfortable. I did not like they way the soles felt. Thank you Zappos for allowing me to return with no hassle. I hate returning shoes. I get so excited just to be disappointed.

I have been wearing Hoka Speedgoat for years (I have had no less than 7 pairs of them) and have loved them before this pair. I don't know what was done to change the model but I HATE the Speedgoat 4. They feel heavier and much more stiff (they were already stiff). I got blisters on the balls of both feet after running in them. $150 down the drain.

I usually fall between an 8.5 and a 9. I ordered the 8.5 and it was a perfect fit. My problem was with the cushion/support. It was good, if you like the feel of springs under your feet or the constant feeling of walking on a mildly damp sandy beach. My sister loves this feeling. I cannot get used to it and prefer a more minimal style. I love the look and I can understand the appeal, but these were not for me. Opted for the Danner 2650 which is perfect in both size and comfort.

I’m a little in the fence....beautiful shoe with nice support. But the toe box is narrow and it’s a very bulky (but light) shoe. It’s going to take some time to get use to them.

I ran in the speedgoat 3 and loved them. I completed one 10 mile run in the speedgoat 4 and had terrible chaffing and blisters from the new tongue design. The new tongue does not provide and padding against the top of my foot and ankle. It is too thin and creases with every step causing major sore on top of my ankle. Please redesign the tongue to be more padded like version 3.

I love this shoe except for the tongue. It's completely unpadded, asymmetrical, and cuts into the top of my ankle with every step. I had to purchase longer socks to wear with them to prevent blisters, still might return them.

I feel really off balanced running in these. And they are also a bit to wide and big for me.

I have a variety of Hoyas in my closet and love them. However, these Speedgoat 4's are too narrow, even though I ordered and received the wide size like the others. I use the narrowest socks with them and have stretched them a bit and tie them loosely. I should have just returned them!

I love the brand, both of my sisters wear them, what you have on file is a pair I sent back, and have since ordered another pair, they are the Stinson ATR 6. My biggest issue is I ordered a 7.5 reg. and I received Wide. I love them except for that.

I was bummed that I didn't love these like I loved my Bondi's and my Carbon's. I've been doing more trail running so I was hoping to find a Hoka sneaker with better grip. I run high mileage so I need shoes that last and have great support. These were very stiff and uncomfortable. The tongue cut into the front of my ankle and rubbed it raw. In just three weeks a hole appeared on the top above by big toe. Overall just not happy with the purchase. Way too expensive for the quality.
