This is my 3rd pair of Speedgoats. I went to look for a new pair and saw online reviews that the tongue of of the shoe had been changed to a thin hard material, rather then the previous used slightly cushioned soft material on my last two pairs. In some of the reviews I read, people were complaining about blisters on their ankles from the new hard tongue rubbing. The store associate that was helping me said he has them and he was aware of the reviews but he didn't have any issues. So I went for it and first run, I had a blister on my ankle right were the tongue hits. I love everything else about these and don't get why Hoka had to change a good shoe. Rather the return them because everything else is perfect, I had a shoe cobbler sew an old tongue from a previous pair behind the hard tongue on the new pair, which stopped the tongue from rubbing the ankle but I'm sad I had to ruin the look of my shoes and spend extra money to fix them.

I've worn these shoes for three years as my go-to trail running shoe for short jogs, 24-hour treks and everything in between. Yes, the older versions wore through on the uppers sooner than I'd have liked. However, the newest iteration has overcorrected. The newer, tougher uppers crease constantly when I run and the creased area digs into the tops of my feet so much so that I have red marks after every run. The rest of the shoe is as comfy as ever but it's not enough to stick with them anymore. I'm super bummed that I'll have to switch shoes.

I ordered the Speedgoat in a size 9 D (Wide) but they felt more like a Medium/Narrow. I think a 9.5 D would have probably worked. I own a pair of 9 D Hoka Bondi's and they fit perfectly, so it seems the Hoka shoes sizing varies by style. Also, the yellow color was just too much for me. From the photos I thought it would be more subtle, less glaring (Provincial Blue / Luminary Green). I had hoped these would work out as a hiking shoe for dirt and rocky trails but decided to return them for the reasons stated and went with the Oboz Sawtooth II Low in a 9.5 Regular instead. Not as stylish but the fit & feel is great!

I can't say enough about HOKA ! What company let's you wear.. try out a pair of shoes? I wore this pair on trails . I wanted SO badly for them to work for me, because they were so cushiony, like walking on a mattress. I tried men's for the wide footbed. My problem was the arch. I have very high arches. There just wasn't enough sturdy support in that area for my feet!

I hear nothing but great things about The Speedgoat. Cushion is great - feels supportive/stable. But I have super high arches and there is not arch support. I mean only my heels and pad of my foot hit the bottom of the shoe. I learned my lesson long ago. Not risking the pain!! I won’t be running, but trail walking/hiking and must have the arch support. Back they go. Cute color combos though.

I have associated this style to the most comfortable shoes from Hoka, unfortunately this one disappoints. It looks a lot nicer than my previous ones but I'm not as happy with this.

I sooo wanted to love these shoes... I love the look of them. I love the support & comfort on the bottom of my feet, would have been perfect for my high arches & plantar faciatis. However, I ordered 2 different sizes of this shoe & cannot get past the rub on my ankle. With all of the positives of this shoe I just can't overcome the ankle pain.

I'm on my feet 8+ hours a day (walking/standing) and that's my main use for the shoes. The shoes are great quality. The problem for me was lack of support.

I felt like Minnie Mouse in these shoes--they are so big! But, I would have kept them since they are light and I was starting to like their unusually big look. However, as others have pointed out, the tongue on the top of the shoe keeps hitting the front of my ankle. So I think I will return them and keep looking for the right hiking shoe...

I forgot to mention in my previous review that the front of the shoe fit well (1/2 inch of room for my toes in the front). I generally wear a 9 1/2, and that is what I ordered in this shoe (true to size for me).

I was really disappointed when I received these shoes. I really wanted them to work for me because they looked good when I put them on, but the fit just wasn’t right for me. When I initially tried them on, the side of the shoe rubbed against the little toe of my left foot and the opposite side of my right foot. I adjusted my socks and was able to prevent rubbing on the left side and to some extent on the right side, but I was worried that I would have problems using these shoes for 10+ miles on trails (intention when I ordered them). In addition to the rubbing issue, the material in the ankle area was very stiff and I was concerned that this would cause problems, regardless of the length of my socks. I considered keeping them, in hopes that they would loosen up a bit with wear, but I decided against this because the current pair of Saucony trail shoes that I have been wearing were comfortable right out of the box (better off sticking with a shoe I know works for me). Unfortunately, I will be returning these shoes.

They fit fine, but the fabric is rubbery and my feet were sweating while wearing them in our hot and humid weather.

This is the 2nd pair of Hoka's I have purchased. The first pair help up great. These....not so much. I bought them 4 month sago and they are starting to rip. I spoke to Zappos customer service and all they could offer was a $20 off coupon for a future purchase. To me, that is terrible! They are not exactly an inexpensive shoe!

… for three months, coming home to put these on after work was the absolute highlight of my day. I have high arches and a bum knee, and these were truly amazing.
It’s been almost a year and now these are relegated to “okay” shoes for around the house. For a while, these were fabulous, but I am incredibly disappointed in the lack of durability. Trim details are peeling, and the inner awesomeness is just not the same.
For context, I’m a 38-yr-old educator who does NOT run marathons— only after my own kids. I’ve not been hard on these at all— they were purchased mid-pandemic, when neighborhood walks were our excitement.

i wanted to love this shoes so much. i was very disappointed, the shoe itself is bulky, the tong is a hard plastic that left a mark on my foot on those minutes I tried it.
i work in healthcare and stand on my feet all day and thought these shoes were very comfy. they were returned the next morning.

The tongue is unbearable in these shoes. I wish I had listened to the other reviewers. I was careful, wore them around the house to be sure it wouldn't be a problem and thought I was OK. Wore them for a short hike, no issues. Wore them yesterdAy for longer and now have rubbed my skin raw on the top of my foot where the tongue hits. Wish I could return them but they've been worm now.... Boo. I now thread the tongue Thur the threads so it sticks up and won't run, but yuck. Not good. So too bad as I love Hokas and have been buying them for years.

Hi everyone. My wife and I are planning some hiking/ trail walking adventures this summer. Her old shoe were giving blisters all over her feet. Not a good thing at all. So my search began for a new shoe for her. After reading what seemed like a million reviews, I decided on the speed goat 4 for her. She wears an 8 1/2 wide.
She says they grip the ground really well. She also like how comfortable the are. Her knees don't hurt as much. All good things. She doesn't like like that they are kind of tight at the base of her toes. They are not stretchy in that part of the shoe. That's where her foot is the widest. She also that will cause them to crack on the outside also. At this time she is undecided on the shoe. She's had the about 3 weeks now. I will update my review more as she give more details about the speed goat's.

Returning tennis shoes was a great experience. I would have kept the shoes however when I walked there was a funky feeling to my right foot. It was like the material wasn't glued to the Saul correctly. I sent the shoes back. This is twice now but some thing like this is happened and I'm very sad about it because I love my Hoka tennis shoes that I purchased at Other shoe stores.

I've worn out several pairs of previous versions of the Speedgoats and loved them for the springy, cushy, and all together zippy ride. So when the Speedgoat 4 became available I was excited to get my next favorite pair. But on the 4, the tongue is made of thin stiff rubber material and is extremely uncomfortable. Tried thicker socks and taller socks to cushion but they still rubbed so badly I never left the house. So sad; they were returned. Why Hoka, why? Please change back to the old style of tongue. I need some speedgoats!

I would say that I do love the comfort of the shoes, unfortunately I am not a fan of the color. My main reason for the lower score, however, is because I bought them for supination, which they apparently over corrected, according to the podiatrist I now have to see because of the severe heel and foot pain I now have after wearing them.

I remember when HOKAs had a wide toe box, and I sure miss it. I ordered 1/2 size larger, and the WIDE option, but they're still too narrow and my small toes are squished. I LOVE everything else about HOKAs, the durability, the quality, the tongue and lacing, the sole, and of course, the awesome cushioning. I hope HOKA will consider making a wider toe box, as I'm going to have to cross over the line and try Altras.
