I returned them. Felt like I was wearing heels as I'm used to a much lower drop shoe. But - lots of folks swear by them. They just didn't work for me.

My last 10 pairs of shoes have been Hoka, usually the atr I decided to try something new, shoe box is a little small, the cushion is nice, will probably go back to the atr next time.

Had to return these after wearing around the kitchen for 5 minutes. The tongue was so high and stiff and scraped into my leg after simple sweeping.

A disappointing step down. The Speedgoat 2 was engineering genius for a wannabe distance runner with pain issues, and I'm so grateful I had the urge to buy a second pair. (As recommended by my orthopedic surgeon, in fact.) The Speedgoat 4 took away everything that was cushiony, supportive, and balanced about the Speedgoat 4 - almost like they took an ice cream scooper, stuck it into the shoe, and scraped out millimeters of interior comfort from toe to tongue to heel. You should see how much light gets in when you hold them up to a window. Rather than a Speedgoat successor, it feels like a cheap Speedgoat knockoff. It's a return for me.

The larger toe box I am not a fan. I have a narrow foot. The new thin tongue that slides to the side - not ideal. Same cushion which I do appreciate.

The pictures are of my two pairs of Hokas. I had the grayish pair since 2017, and they were fantastic. I traveled to Europe, and they were great for walking on the cobblestone roads and walking for long periods of time. The blue pair are my second pair of Hokas, and I was really debating whether I should buy them, and here are my reasons why: 1.) I take a EE, and women sizes only go up to D; 2.) Since my foot is wide, there were very few choices to choose from (only 3 choices), and the color options weren't great; 3.) I was worried that they wouldn't be true to their size. After wearing them for a day I came to these conclusions: 1.) Due to the wider forefoot feature, a D in width for my foot was good with a little extra space (I think a EE would have been too wide); 2.) Where my foot bends, you can notice that a crease has already started to form (circled in red), so I'm a bit concerned that overtime, the shoe material might break there; 3.) Shoe looks better in-person. I needed a pair of shoes that have a cushioned heel, because I have plantar fasciitis. With this said, sometimes the higher heel makes the shoe looks clunky; however, I found these shoes looking pretty sleek; 4.) The tongue of the shoe is very thin and tough, which might be painful if you don't wear a thicker sock; 5.) The shoes are true to their size. Overall, I give these pairs a 3.5 star rating for these reasons: 1.) Extremely limited color selection for people who have wide feet; 2.) There's a crease already forming where my foot bends after wearing them for only a day; 3.) The tongue is tough. I think that Hokas are a great brand, but I just don't know if these particular blue shoes will work for me. I recommend having more colors available for people with wide feet; going back to the softer shoe tongue; and doing something about the easily-formed creases on the shoe.

My first pair of Hokas was the Speedgoat 2s. They were pretty much perfect. I was hoping these would be the same. The cushioning feels as good, my main problem is the lack of padding on the tongue. I was hoping my feet would get used to it, but it seems to have gotten worse the more I wear them. It's actually ok when I'm running, but more bothersome when I walk before and after a run, which I usually do. Also, the cut out on the ankles feel a bit high. Only bothers me on one side on my right shoe and is not as bad as the harsh tongue. Hoping for some changes in the next model!

I have had six or seven pairs of these shoes, miss the old type of waterproof speedgoat, and the new tongue bothers the top of my foot, there is presure and rubbing after I walk , please go back to the old type . Between the challenger shoe and this one I currently have eight pairs in various conditions, its all I wear. When they are changed I go into a panic, fearing I will go back to being uncomfortable. Hope you do not put this new tongue in al your shoes.

I am a slim person with thin legs and I wear a narrow shoe in all shoes, my dress shoes and sandals have to be a size 8N for narrow. So when I read the reviews that this was narrow for a sneaker I thought to try it and was very surprised how narrow it is. The toe box is not wide at all instead very narrow and pointy, even for me, however the heel slipped. After walking in the house 15 minutes it was just so uncomfortably tight. It is a very lightweight shoe and cute, but that's about it. Looks nice but not comfortable at.

Huge fan of the Speedgoat 3. I'm hoping I like them more once I have more miles on them. Same size in the 3s feels bigger in the 4s.

I am going to have to order a different Hoka One One shoe. I love them. This pair did not seem like what I expected. I actually accidently ordered two of the same shoe, because I thought one order did not go through! LOL.... My bad.

This isn't my first pair of Speedgoats, they are a shoe I have run many miles in but this new pair didn't work out. I did a quick 6 miles and my feet hurt so bad. Trying the challenger as it seems a little lighter.

The fit and size were true which was great. I love everything about these shoes EXCEPT the tongue. It is so hard and rough and not flexible at all! It made marks in my shins where part of it is pointy and it's really painful. I am not sure why they would make a tongue to be so rough and long, it should be softer like a normal shoe. I am keeping the shoes because I like them so much and have a hard time finding shoes with good arch support. I cut the tongues to be shorter so they wouldn't hurt so bad and I am hoping they will be broken in soon. I love Hoka's but the tongue comfort needs to be changed for such an expensive brand.

I really wanted to like these shoes - I’ve been eyeballing them for awhile now. I wasn’t sure how I was going to like the big, rocker-style soles, but I decided to give them a shot because I needed a really good, solid pair of shoes and Hoka has a great reputation. The shoe itself seems well-made. I probably should have listened to my instinct about the sole, because I didn’t care for how it felt. However, I wouldn’t base my review on that because that really is a personal preference, and I knew what I was getting. That said, what I found surprising about the shoe is how rigid and stiff it was. I was expecting a more breathable, meshy-type of material. But it was more solid, very firm material. It felt almost like plastic (though I don’t believe it is). In putting the shoe on, it felt stiff and uncomfortable. Not something that made me want to go right out and take a walk or run. I imagined that If I had done so, I would have been dealing with a painful break-in process, with blisters at the very least. I didn’t need to walk around the house for long to know these weren’t the shoes for me. I returned them and got a pair La Sportiva Helios instead. Way better fit for me. Overall, I think the design of the hoka is good, the color ranges are unique and fun. The shoe just didn’t do it for me.
I'd also recommend:

I love everything about the speedgoat except for the tongue. After my run a scab formed on both my ankles where the tongue rubbed through my sock. I took a scissor and cut an inch off the tongue and now they are great. I have 3 pairs of the speedgoat 3 and they were awesome.

I use this product mainly for trail running in very muddy terrain. The grips are awesome and the shoes keep my feet relatively dry. I will say that the Speedgoat 4's feel slightly bigger than the 3's and the material is stiffer and bends weird in the toe box. I did try the smaller size and while the length was better, the arch in the sole of the shoe was too far back.

The toe box and tongue is made with pk Lastic now : the tongue is cobwtaly digging into your ankle so you are always bending over a readjusting it

I like the design, and the sole, but as far as comfort, nothing beats the Brooks brand. I have tried many different brands.

Upper rubs on little toes., and slips on the heel even with heavy socks. Very disappointed. Hokas just don't seem to work for me. I've tried.

I use these for running and the tongue of these actually have no padding and cut into my foot, unlike my other 3 pairs. Also the back buckles when I put them on which I have never experienced with Hokas. So sad because Hokas, they have been the only sneakers I have used for the past 4 years. Once on though with high socks the support is a Hoka.
