Really wanted to love this boot. The foot fit perfectly and was super comfy. However the calf was huge. The description claimed it was only 14inches in circum. but it measured to 18. Felt like I had firemans boots on! Returned!

One of the things that I love about Born is the consistency of sizing. I've been a 9.5 in EVERY piece of footwear I've ever gotten from Born (which is a lot - I love their boots & their flats). But this boot felt both too narrow & too short. I tried a 10 and the fit was still not right. I'm used to getting my Born shoes/boots out of the box & wearing them all day, with no "break-in" period required. I'm not sure how long it would take me to break in these boots, in a size larger than I normally wear, and I'm not going to find out. These are nice-looking boots, with a simple, classic feel - but I miss that Born level of comfort right out of the box. These are a return.

Great for people with narrow calves! In a size 6 the toe box was more tight than the Born Cosna in size 6. The material is a bit different too. The North is more matte in color but it was great to have a pair of boots fit snug and not tight for someone 5'2" and teeny calves. Returned only for style in the Cosna. Both boots have nice lightweight lining that feels soft to the touch. both boots feel of high quality. I am sure the toe box would soften without any problem but I couldn't keep all of the boots! Attractive flat boot, ran small, had damage to toe upon arrival, returned. Color true to image. Seemed not as good quality overall as Born boots I have bought in the past. Returned.

These boots are exactly what I was looking for! The leather is supple and the fit is fantastic (I'm slender but am a runner so I have muscular calves). They cost a bit more than I was hoping to pay, but are worth it. They are well made, and I know from previous experience with Born shoes that they will last a very long time. And for those who care about details like this, the zipper is bronze.

The leather and sole of these boots is supple and high quality, very comfortable in the feet right out of the box and the sizing was accurate. However have to echo another reviewer who said that the calf size is inaccurate on the Zappos website. The circumference is at least 16 inches, actually too big for what I wanted (boots to fit snugly and wear with a dress/tights) but they're so comfortable that I'll just wear them over skinny jeans. Zappos, your service is outstanding, but I would update your website information about the calf size or more people will just return them.

I was looking for boots to wear with a skirt that could also be comfortable for doing a couple of miles of urban walking, and these fit the bill. Super comfy. I have very average calves (maybe slightly on the thinner side) and the circumference was a little loose, (in a good way--perfect for wearing over skinny jeans also.) My only very minor complaint is that I feel like they could have a tiny bit more arch support, but it's not bad.

I really wanted to love this boot. I have always purchased Born boots for both quality, comfort and style. This failed on multiple levels. I normally go for less of a pointy boot, but thought I would try...Wow this felt very narrow on the toes and my toes hurt ~ 5 min of wearing them. They would definitely need a break-in period. The quality of Born shoes seems to also gone down. The soles are now all rubber (they actually used to make these hard soled with real sewing) the color resembles a brown swede not a grey, but they're still a beautiful color. The calf size is OK on me especially when wearing calf covers. Overall, disappointed in the tightness and quality... returning product.

Born is very consistent in sizing. Size sevens usually fit me perfectly, and this pair was no exception. I like the simple outlines of these boots, the almond toe and the low heel. They feel sturdy, look stylish, are comfortable and easy to get on and off. I plan to wear them with skirts and tights.

Beautiful leather, great arch support, and very comfortable. But I took a chance on the regular calf width because the wide calf was not available, and it's just a little too snug to tuck in a pair of jeans. So I'm reluctantly returning them and ordering the wide calf version directly from Born.

I tried several boots this season to find a brown-tone one for the long haul. Born's North boot was it--I love it in the suede; the brown leather scratched very easily, and seemed too difficult to keep nice. I'll be waterproofing the suede (professionally). I give it four stars overall because the calf is way to wide...I had to take two inches off of each boot's circumference so that it didn't look like I was wearing my mom's boots (when I was five!). It upped the boot cost by a 50%. But it's the best looking and best feeling boot that fit my aesthetic/needs. It's a shame that Born didn't make a narrow version of the boot--I know they make a wide one.

Love the simple line and construction of this boot! I purchased my size and it fit perfectly with thin socks. I can tell it would be tight with thick winter socks, but since this is primarily for indoor use I'm happy with the fit. I have a wide toe bed and narrow heels and this is the first boot I've tried this season that did not slosh around my heels when I walk. I love the fact that the lining fabric does not grab my socks when I put them on. i.e. I can wiggle my toes after the boots are on. I also love that there is a bit of "spring" in the footbed cushion. Very simple lines, somewhat matte finish, substantial metal zipper. Just what I was looking for. I wanted boots to wear under pants, not over. If you have wide calves, these might be too small for you. The only negative for me is that the leather is a bit thicker/stiffer than I'd like in this style boot. Hence the 4 stars for comfort. After looking around online I can see that I need to give these a dose of mink oil to soften them up.

I am a huge fan of Born boots (this is my fourth pair) and was in the market for some flat-ish brown boots that were fairly simple. These are beautiful boots in terms of the leather (I ordered the brown), though they did come with some scuffs/scratches already on them. These fit well and similarly to other Born boots I have. However, I agree with others that the calves seem HUGE to me. I have relatively slender calves so I do face this issue with most boots, however the Borns usually are not that bad, but I agree with what one other reviewer said that these looked like large rubber fireman boots on me! I ended up going with the Born Turne which seemed a little narrower and/or the embellishment of the buckle on the calf region took away from it/made them look less like fireman boots!

I love 'em. I usually wear 7.5 in athletic shoes, 7.5 to 8 otherwise. I went for 8 so I could wear thicker socks. They are super comfortable to walk around in. Liners are comfortable and reasonably warm. I waterproofed them when I got them. The gray is very versatile, beautiful.

These boots fit exactly like my other Born boots-perfectly! I love Born because they are comfortable and supportive for my very flat feet but are still stylish-I needed a pair of sleek and neutral boots to wear with dresses and skirts and I think the simple style of this pair is perfect!! LOVE

Love, love, love these boots! I was looking for a minimalist, classy flat knee high boot and these are them!! Look great with leggings, skinny jeans, dress/skirts. They are lovely and good quality. Worth every penny!

Very nice but seems long. If I go down a size, toe area will be too narrow. Keeping and adding orthotic for better support and fit. Very nice boot.

These are beautiful boots, but the the top of the shaft is wide. It creates a more casual look, as it is not fitted to the calf. But if you are looking for casual and high quality, these are great.

The circumference of the shaft is way bigger than the description and drowns your calves.

I only returned these because based on one of the Q&A listed said that these were a true grey. I should have read additional Q&A on this subject as others indicated brown undertones. They were definitely too brown. I have owned a pair of the brown ones for years and love them so much I wanted a grey pair. The brown almost look better the older they get. I wish they had a true grey offering.

Very comfortable and no break-in period required! I will note that the lining is almost a flannel-like material--It's very warm!

I bought these for my wife after her last couple pairs of Fryes fell apart. They look like good quality boots and my wife assumed I spent $400 on them. she wanted more colors when she found out the price.

I had a pair of Born boots that were my most comfortable go to boot for about 8 years. Finally, I needed a replacement. The Born North was my choice and I am loving them as much as my previous pair. Leather and style looks classy, yet casual. I like the simple look without a lot of garnishing and the color of the leather is beautiful. These boots will be with me for years to come.

I love how these boots fit and the height of the boot. The calf circumference is perfect. I wear a size 7 1/2 and these boots hit the mark. They worked for me. I have just a regular sized foot, not narrow nor wide, about medium and my toes have wiggle room and the rest of my foot feels comfortable. I noticed there is a bit of arch support, as well, and again, just fits very well. It’s stylish! I bought the grey color, which is more like a grey-beigey color that I happen to love! Thanks Zappos!
