The coat is warm and comfortable. My only complaints are that the hood pops off even when I am just lifting it off of a chair. Because of this, I often just leave the hood off instead of taking the time to reattach it. If you plan to spend a lot of time outside in it and would like a hood, I would buy a coat that the hood zips on or isn't detachable. Also, I bought a black coat, but tiny white feathers show on it all the time as they work their way out of the coat. I'd say there are better quality coats for the money.

Too big. It needs more shape at the waist, like a belt or elastic band to make it more snug fitting and flattering. Since I know how to sew, I will just add it myself. Otherwise the length of this coat is really nice.

Love the coat - my only complaint is that I am constantly putting the hood back on as it comes unsnapped.

For how expensive this jacket was, I would expect a better zipper. The jacket will not zip 70% of the time. I am otherwise happy with the warmth and fit of this jacket, however without a functioning zipper it really cannot keep anyone warm. I will not be purchasing a Northface jacket again.

Medium fit well at 5"7" 115 lb. The hood keeps coming unsnapped :( AND the metal zippers are not near as smooth as a similar NF parka with plastic zippers, often catching on fabric and getting stuck.

I really wanted this coat to work based on prior reviews - lightness & warmth & look on the page. Unfortunately, this coat didn't work for me. Ordered a large (garnet) which turned out to be too small. Other persons described themselves similarly in size (I'm 5'6 & 160 lbs) who felt even a medium was too large - they sized down to small etc. So I'm surprised by this discrepancy, but whatever. The coat in large fit just so with little room for layering and hugged around hips which imo interfered with an attractive drape - that aspect seems to be part of this coat's profile so the style wasn't for me. Was surprised that the line seemed subtely not quite right -hadn't expected that given how models looked. (I'm really not that large lol.) The fabric did seem flimsy but did not see b/4 returning any evidence of feathers coming out of seams. The garnet color is lovely! Appreciate great people at Zappos in customer service!!!

Love the look and fit of this coat, but the snaps that attach the hood are so flimsy that the hood falls off literally every time I wear it. You can barely touch the hood without the snaps coming undone. Super disappointing for an expensive coat.

I bought this jacket for my wife as Christmas and birthday gift. Con: hood snaps out very easily. Very bad design. They could have use zipper instead. Not returning the jacket only because my wife likes the style. I had to stiched the hood into the jacket to fix the hood snapping out issue.

I love the design/ style of this coat. What I don't love are the feathers that are constantly falling out the coat. The coat appears cheap. Very dissatisfied with the quality.

Please fix the problem with the hood other than the problem with the hood its a great coat.

I love north face coats! But I am not in love with this one! The feathers come out of the coat making it look cheap! UGH! This coat is too pricey for the feathers to be coming out! I wish I could return it!!! :-(

They changed the snaps from metal to plastic. Bought this one to replace my 5 year old North Face Parka, which I loved. So disappointed in the snaps of the hood, not secure at all, become unsnapped at the slightest movement of your head. I get mad every time I wear the coat. Was hesitant to spend the money the first time around, but since I loved it, wasn't that hesitant this time. This time I may not buy another one.

Nice and warm, good fit, but the poppers attaching the hood pop off at every head turn, sit, arm movement. Very annoying. I'm sure I'll lose the hood one day

I have to admit it was a bit tight on me. However I really didn't care for the uneven hem. I thought it would date the coat and North Face's are really timeless. I found another model that fit better and will always be basic but in style.

I love this coat and have gotten so many compliments on it and how stylish it is. I'm 5'7 150-ish lbs and purchased the L. I can wear a sweatshirt comfortably under the jacket. My biggest complaint is that the hood detaches really easily, and I found myself having to snap it back on regularly (until I lost it).

3 star because of the Velcro on sleeves. Why not design the sleeves tapered to wrist? I had the tailor remove the Velcro and tabs and add elastic loosely instead. No tab and snaps to cover zipper. What happened Northface?

I have a lot of other North Face coats and jackets . My children have them as well . We have been purchasing North Face products for over 10 years and this is the first time that I haven't been happy with a product.

This XS runs a size larger than other TNF XS parkas so the wind would've gone up the bottom of this. I do like the high low hem line style though. The 550 fill is not sufficient to keep the cold air out especially without a windproof exterior fabric. It felt very light and thin, would only be warm enough for cool Fall weather or very mild NY winter.

I've heard great things about this company so decided to purchase a winter coat. However, I was not happy when it came. The inside feathery material was coming out of the stitching area all around. I have returned that coat and have purchased another one. Hopefully, no issues 2nd time around.

Nice warm coat, length great for really cold winter temperatures BUT sheds feathers like crazy! I would not buy this coat again.

The feel of the parka is excellent, but the design can stand improvement. First, the front is overly fluffy so that it lacks good style (although the back is just fine, surprisingly). Second, the sleeves don't have a tight cupped fit that would insulate the wrists from the cold without gloves. Although the parka provides good warmth overall, the dimensions don't curve around the body and make the fit look bulky and square instead.

Zipper doesn't work but I really like this jacket ?

I wanted to really love this coat but it just isn't that warm. It is light and non-constricting which makes it very comfortable to move around in. Unfortunately, I am still in search of that perfect warm, light, long black winter coat....

This coat would be perfect if the back was not so long.
