Awesome fit, awesome feel, and awesome performance. Seems to be an energy efficient shoe when running easy paces up to, and including tempo pace. Not sure of shoe efficiency when really pushing the pace beyond tempo. You are heading in the right direction, Hoka. As for wear, I do not have enough miles on the shoe to determine the longevity.

I bought these as a trainer and would alternate with my Nike Vaporfly and Nike Next% for racing. The reality became that the Carbon X are both great as a trainer and a racer. Plenty of support vs. the Nikes and much more durable. Also, the toe box has plenty of room where the Nike tend to be narrow. I would HIGHLY recommend using them as they have the perfect combination of comfort, support and speed. Hoka hit this one spot on.

So far I've only been wearing these for treadmill running, but they feel great so far! I have the flattest feet in the land and have to use an insert, but even with the insert the shoes are very light, comfortable, and responsive. I usually wear the Bondi 6 (which I love), but these are quickly becoming my new favorite.

I ran in Clifton, Clayton and now these. Arrived the day before a 203 mile Ragnar race. My first run (of 4) was 7.3 miles. I knew these were special within first mile. Best Hoka I have ran/raced in. Light and quick feeling, not spongy. Felt even better when the pace got faster. Great on flats, hills, downhills. Felt very stable. Next 3 runs were on smoked legs and short rest, but I was pumped up knowing I was going to strap these on to race. You definitely feel the design technology doing its thing. Based on reviews people thought it ran large, I bought 2 sizes, but my usual 11.5 fit perfect, so IMO they are true to size.

Wow... I love this shoe. I was very skeptical purchasing the reccomended size because it was a half size smaller than my other shoes. Even after trying the shoes on for the first time in my living room I was thinking I might need to go up in size but after the first run, the shoe felt great and after my second run I was loving it.
I am hooked on HOKA. If you feel the need for speed get the Carbon x.

I got these shoes a couple of weeks ago and after a couple of runs I will tell you that they are fast! You really do feel the spring back of that carbon plate and it feels amazing. I am using them for tempo runs and races. They do not do slower pace as well as my other Hokas, and they are not as cushioned, but that is okay as they are responsive and fast and that's what I want in a race!

I do fitness walking as a low-impact way to keep in shape. I recently wore out my pair of Bondi 6s, and decided to try out the Carbon 1x! Hey, if someone uses them to run the Badwater 135, they can easily handle my 5 miles each night! When I put them on for the first time and took my first step, the shoes launched me forward. Interesting feeling! And when I stepped out of the house for my routine, I immediately started running! These shoes WANT you to run. They feel so good, that I have started incorporated some running into my nightly routine! But when I am not running, they propel me forward and I have been able to cut my walking mile split times by up to 30 seconds! Nice.
These shoes are amazing. I encourage you to give them a try. The carbon fiber plate is no joke, and the cushioning/comfort is perfect in my opinion.

Due to a previous ankle surgery and bad knees, I haven't run in years. I do, however, walk briskly for exercise. I use running shoes for this activity. So, I read about this shoe and thought I'd give it a try. Wow, great responsive cushion and surprisingly light. Though this shoe is made for running, it proved to be great for fast walking as well. Will get another pair to rotate. I would hope that Hoka will eventually come out with some other colors(other than black). The current colors are nice but the light colors could show the dirt more easily.

I use the Carbon X for workouts and so far they have performed well ranging from 1ks to Tempos. As a heavier runner I appreciate the extra support and bounce to my step while moving fast. Legs don't feel too beat up after a hard workout which can be attributed to the shoe as well.

I ordered the Carbon X in size 10 which fits me tighter in Brooks, Asics and New Balance. I knew after wearing Clifton 4's that Hoka runs bigger. When I got the shoes I was surprised how much room the shoes have. The length was fine but the toe box and midfoot were both almost too big for my narrower foot. I just cinched up the laces a bit and it was fine. The performance was very noticeable in these shoes. The way they almost forcibly propel your whole body forward was amazing. The subtle arch support and great heel cup geometry were also spot on! Weight....what weight? I barely noticed having them on! My hip flexors say thank you, Hoka. All in all I absolutely recomment this shoe for a race pace shoe or 10+ mile run shoe. I would say every day running shoe but at this price I wouldn't be replacing them every other month.

These shoes are the best running shoes I've ever worn. Well worth the price. If you wear Nikes, these feel true to size.

Shoe lives up to the hype. Went on a 20 run, little effort put in and the shoe does the rest. Comfortable throughout the run. Easy to pick up faster paces and sustain them

Very great fast shoe! Definitely came out the box stiff and didn't feel anything like a HOKA I had previously owned. After about 20mi on them they started to give a little more and then felt perfect. Really helps you find your rhythm quick and helps you turnover well. I usually wear them on my long runs as well as some tempo days.

First experience with a carbon plate shoe. I am a very big fan of it! Bought them right before a 10K, tested them for a quick 5 min run on the tread the day before, but they felt absolutely perfect on race day! Cushioning is just perfect for a performance shoe that is forgiving for the long haul. Extremely responsive and the shoe feels great going uphill and downhill (I was concerned with that since the sole doesn't bend due to the carbon plate). Definitely my go-to race shoe. Looking forward to my next ultra and marathon with these.
This review is coming early, so no idea on how the shoe will hold up to the miles.

Best HOKAs since originals. I've been running in HOKAS since 2012.. finally they are listening to their long time loyal customer. Back to super Cush. With the carbon plate in them, lots of spring... only con is just a little expensive and doesn't look like they last 250 miles.
