I have worn out two pairs of Clifton 3s and really liked them. I used them from everything from intervals on the track to long runs to full marathon. The Rincons have a very similar fit and feel. Subjective level of cushioning and softness is pretty good, just slightly firmer than the Clifton 3s, but a lot lighter. I used the Rincons right out of the box for 15k race and they felt really good. I'm thinking I'll probably use the Rincons for races, but think they would be pretty good for training and long runs.

Funny story but true. I originally ordered the Rincon (Size 14) on Aug 31, did a hard surface trail run of 12 miles. The shoes performed excellently as I've been dealing with a mild case of plantar's heel. No pain whatsoever. My only concern at the time was the size of the shoe with the standard insert, no support for someone with a moderately high arch. Added one of my custom orthotic inserts and made the fitment great except for the sliding of my foot in the shoe jogging down hill. I made the assumption that the shoe was too big by not going through the full range of orthotics I have available, thus not properly using my free 30 day test run, exchanged them for a 13 and totally messed up as they are too small (D'oh as Homer Simpson would say) long story short, when you buy the Hoka One One brand, don't do what I did, use the free day test run in order to gauge the pros/cons of the shoe. Hoka One One customer service (Danielle) was a great help today! Give her a raise because she knows the brand well and your processes. I'll be reordering the 14 Rincon using my Protalus orthotic.

It's basically Clifton cushion with a tracer upper. Tight and light to be a race shoe but cushioned enough to be worn every run. This is your one running shoe for road - and at its price point it's simply unbeatable.

I am currently training for a half-marathon running 15-25 miles per week and normally run with various Nike shoes. Decided that I wanted to venture out and try a different brand to get a different feel on my runs. Ultimately decided to purchase the Rincon and I have nothing but good things to say! As soon as you slip on the shoes, you can feel how light they truly are. The toe box offers that bit of extra wiggle room without running too large and the shoe is perfectly snug throughout. Fitting is true to size so order your normal size, I wear 10 in Nike and ordered the 10 here. As soon as I started my run, I could feel the meta-rocker at work. It is exactly as described, giving you a "rocking" motion as you transition from heel to forefoot. This feature has made my runs more fun and enjoyable! The sole is nicely cushioned and offered good energy return throughout the entire run. Even with ample cushion, I felt the shoes wanted to go fast and that I could pick up the pace at any point with ease. After finishing a long run, my feet felt great and relatively fresh. I do see why others are concerned with the longevity of the shoes given how the outsole was done, but the shoe is a great value regardless! All in all, an absolute great running shoe from a trusted brand!

Wow, just wow! Can you make a lighter shoe?? This model is fascinating to say the least. Besides the superior weight advantage over EVERY OTHER BRAND, this shoe simply works. Rocker placement is perfect, cushion is great and the durable wear pattern on the outsole is perfect. Thanks for the great shoe to make me feel much faster than I actually am!

I am a recreational runner to stay in shape for soccer. I have been dealing with Achilles issues lately. The support from this shoe lets me go on my runs almost pain free. The amount of support made running g on concrete seem like I was on a treadmill. Great shoe!

I work at a running specialty store, so I have a good amount of experience with running shoes. I have tried the Mach, the Clifton, and the Bondi, and not one of these shoes felt comfortable or natural for me. It was hard to describe, but I felt as though I could not quite hit my stride in any of these shoes. And I really tried : I wanted to like HOKAs. I mean, just look at all that cushion ! If only I could just find a way to appreciate the design of the shoe and run without feeling like I was always hitting the wrong part of the shoe, maybe I could save my poor aging joints from the ravages of racking up the miles of road running. In summary, as much as I want to love them, I really don't care for the HOKAs I've tried up until now.
But then arrives the Rincon. Wow. A thick-cushioned shoe that weighs as much as my beloved Kinvaras ? Maybe this would be a HOKA with which I could rap. So I took it for a spin. And finally ! FINALLY ! A HOKA that fit like a glove and strode long and easy, as smooth and natural as butter. The upper is light and unobtrusive, nothing to write home about but comfortable enough not to notice it. The midsole is super-light and very responsive, not the Ghost-like plushness of the Clifton or the Bondi. And neither my feet nor my shins nor my knees bother me after long runs. So basically, you're getting all that HOKA cushion without having to run in a HOKA. I think of this shoe like a more durable and more protective Kinvara.
And it should also be mentioned that the Rincon has got some versatility to it. I found both intervals and slow jogs to be equally comfortable in this guy, though I don't know how well it would hold up for the marathon distance. I'd say this shoe would be a great choice for a daily trainer and up to a half-marathon racer.
HOKA, thank you for hearing my (silent) prayers. You nailed it with the Rincon.
NOTE : Do yourself a favor and use the money you save on buying this shoe (only $115 !) to get a proper insole.

I have been running for 15 years, and these are my first pair of Hoka One One running shoes. I run 35-40+ miles per week, and mostly on pavement. I ran in the Nike Lunarglides from the first edition through their last edition that ended last year. My last pair of running shoes were the Altra Torin 4 Plush. I bought the Rincon today after researching many shoe options. I have been looking for shoes that are light weight, breathable and well cushioned, but not too soft. After my first run today- I am in love! I think that I have finally found my Goldilocks running shoes! The thing that I noticed right away is the energy return. The shoes felt like they were propelling me forward. I have never really felt that before in any shoe I have worn in the past (Asics, Nike, Brooks and Altra). I had no hot spots, which is rare for me on a first run in new shoes. I had plenty of room in the toe box- my toes were able to splay out normally. The ride was very stable. I loved the experience of my first run in these shoes so much that I just ordered another pair to use as my casual walking shoes! I am a little concerned about how the outsoles of the shoes will hold up, but at this price point, if I can get close to 300 miles out of this pair, I will be extremely pleased!

After putting the Hoka One One Rincon through every test I could think of, I only have positive things to say. I will describe the shoe in a series of ratings from 1-10 below:
Aesthetic (9/10)- I got the black Rincon. I prefer black shoes, and the look of this shoe is excellent. My one suggestion would be for more "solid, plain color" designs in the Hoka lineup so they aren't as "busy" looking. That is, however, just my preference.
Fit (9/10)- Comfortable, snug, the toe box is just roomy enough to not think about it without being loose at all. A nearly perfect fit, true to size. I wear a 9 in Reebok CrossFit Nanos and a 9 in the Rincon fits about 5% tighter. This is not a bad thing, not a good thing, just a note. Very comfortable shoe.
Performance (10/10)- Flawless. I would argue that it is the best shoe in its class for the value (more on that below). I have used the Rincon for the following distances:
-1 mile
-5k
-10k
-Half Marathon
I think the sweet spot for the Rincon is 10k to Half Marathon, but it is certainly capable of handling a full Marathon. Light, with the right balance of cushion and bounce, the Rincon is perfect for those short, fast runs while not beating your body up.
Durability (6/10)- This is not a shoe designed for 1,000 miles. I would say that 250 on roads would be a safe number to consider reevaluation. For the price and performance, this is honestly still an excellent value. Any more reinforcement and you cut into the weight, making it heavier with more outsole rubber, or price, making it more expensive with, say, carbon fiber reinforced upper material (both of which I think would make an excellent special edition Rincon for buffed trail use).
Price (10/10)- I could always use discounts or sponsorships from Hoka just to stock up and review their shoes without going into debt, but the price is good.
Overall: 44/50
Highly recommended racer/trainer. I hope they never change it. Keep this around and make special editions as an extra bonus.

Training for marathon with a selection of Nikes, UAs, and added the Rincon. The Hoka is way beyond the others in cushion and feel. Feet feel so much better after the 10+ mile runs on the Rincons that I'm thinking about going solely to them for long distance training. I have wide feet and bought up a half size for perfect fit. 6' and 200 lbs.

I'm a new runner - I've been active (cycling, lifting, CrossFit, etc.) for a long time but just started regularly running for the last 1.5 months. My knees/ankles/feet were killing me when I ran in my Reebok Nano 2's and my old pair of Inov-8 Road-X 233. I got the Rincon as my first dedicated running shoe, and wow, I've been blown away. Most of the pain is gone - I've been able to run a few 10k distances with little to no pain, but the shoe still feels responsive. There's something strangely good about the shoe - it feels soft and light, but feels like it wants to propel me forward more than a soft, cushioned shoe like this should. I should mention that I'm on the heavier side vs my peak distance cycling/mountain biking days (about 15-20lbs heavier from lifting and not focusing on endurance sports the last few years), so the supportive nature of the Rincon has been an absolute must to save my joints. What makes this shoe so amazing is that it can combine that shock absorption while still feeling relatively fast!

These are my favorite Hokas. They are super light and feel super fast. I cannot speak of build quality because I've only done 1 7 miler in them but they are very comfortable. I love them and highly recommend them.

I've been in Hokas since 2011. A few models have disappointed, and I occasionally alternate with Altras, but Hoka is back in the game with these! I love the heel strap for getting the shoes on without damaging the Achilles support. These are light but offer all the cushion for which Hoka made its brand. I feel as though the company is returning to its base audience... us crazy distance runners who want cushiony, cloud-like bounce, mile after mile. The lightweight material will likely send me shopping for thick winter shoes once the snow comes, but I have no complaints!
