I run in Brooks Glycerins and love them, I tried the Hoka Clifton 6 as they have a great reputation. I loved the cushion and balance of the shoe I think it is very plush, however, the upper is too narrow on the toes and after 20 miles I had serious blisters on my pinky toes and had to shelve them and run in my old shoes. I will continue to run in them and see if they break in but the uppers don't seem soft and I'm concerned they won't loosen up with time.

Great shoe but my geel felt like it was slipping off the inside of the shoe. Since I probate a bit, this was not good. I sent them back and am trying the wide size. I dont typically wear wides but I'm hoping they'll hit the spot.

Ok, I loved the Original Clifton! It's taken till now the Clifton 6 to get a better fitting upper, The cushion is AWESOME!!! The only thing that really SUCKS is the Higher than normal Arch, It just hurts and all my friends are complaining about it... I don't want to give up the supreme cushion, so I'm force to make my own mods to cut some EVA out in the arch area. Do you have a test program?

Very slightly too narrow. And too plush for me personally but the quality control of the shoe was my biggest issue with it. The left shoe fit perfect but the right shoe was almost a completely different construction the heel pocket didn't sit as deep as the left shoe and the stack height in the back was higher than the left shoe as well by a good mm or 2. Also the right shoe was very stiff and abrasive on the arch area. I have rincons and other running shoes from new balance and do not have this issue although it does happen from time to time which is a little annoying in my opinion this is not the first time that quality control has been off and different between the right and left shoe with hokka and new balance for me. Every once in a while you will get the perfect "pair". KEEP IT!

Great sneaker, bad insert. Tired a couple pairs of these before realizing the issue. The cut on the shoe insert resulted in blisters of my left medial arch. Right foot felt great; left foot arch was in pain. I’ve been running in Hokas ever since Clifton 1 came out and have kept a few of inserts just in case I needed them. Switching inserts worked wonders and no more arch pain. So great shoes... but make try different inserts.

I've enjoyed the Clifton 6's but they are not the perfect shoe for me. There is a ridge on the instep that is quite bothersome. I am able to combat this by wearing thicker socks. It is really annoying and has caused me blisters and sore feet. The tread on the heal is starting to wear out after only 100 miles. I will keep wearing them until they are fully worn out and then I will try a different model of Hoka's. I do love the cushion and support that these shoes offer. Hopefully I will find a model that suites me better.

About 200 miles in the shoe. I really like the midsole but there are a couple of issues: 1. The rubber outsole is starting to come off. 2. The arches are a bit iffy and have caused a lot of blistering. 3. They kind of squeak where the insole meets the arche. 4. The cloth material on the inside of the heel is loose and separated. 5. Feels like it has lost some torsional (midfoot) stability. Lastly, I'm not a fan of how pointy the toe is. Seems to change the ride of the shoe...how you roll off. Again, I do still really enjoy running in it, I'm just a bit disappointed I won't be able to use it for ultras. Also, I was at least expecting it to be more durable than the Napali or C3.

I was looking forward to training out these shoes a lot. Ordered normal size, 10 2E. Width was fine but excessively long. Also there is something truly amiss with the arch. Both feet had pressure at the arch but the right foot was unbearable. Return as defective hoping it was just a mistake. Just received the replacements and have the same problem. Will be returning these asap. To note, I have a pair of Hoka Carbon X's I just started using for racing. Did a few break in runs with the X's and raced one half marathon for a PR in them. I have none of the length or arch issues with X's I did with the Clifton 6's. Also my X's are 10 D.
I'd also recommend:

I purchased these to train and compete for a 50 mile ultra marathon. I think when it comes to any endurance run, Hoka shoes are definitely a focus gear. I picked these up in July and racked up close to 150 miles in 2 months. I must say, my legs, joints, knees, and tendons feel amazing! Not a single issue. But boy did these do a number to my feet. With any running shoe I buy, I always replace the insoles with more durable ones. I especially made sure of this due to the narrow fitting stories I've heard about Hoka's. Even with aftermarket insoles I experienced multiple toe nail disembarkments, blistering in the arches, blistering between and outside of toes, and heal rubbing to name a few. I tired altering socks, using lubricant on my feet, tying the shoes differently, running in different temperatures - all of which made no change. The sizing it true to size, and I've a very comfortable wiggle room for my piggies. I've since quit the shoes after experiencing a blister the size of pangea on the bottom of my foot. With a marathon 4 days away, I did everything I could to heal my foot. The day of the race I switched back to my original runners and ran a painless and blisterless race. What I've deemed the issue with my first pair of Hoka's is the material on the inside of the shoe. It is rough feeling, in comparison to other shoe's I've ran in. I also think these shoes have poor breathe ability which created hot spots and friction points on my feet. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I love the cushion of the shoes, but it comes at a price. I've considered trying a wide size (unfortunately that option wasn't available to try in the running shoe store), but probably in a different model. Anyway, maybe you will have a better experience - or will keep these comments in mind when trying out a new pair of Hoka's.

Shoe has great cushion. Although the thick cushioning takes getting used to, if you can. The rubber on the sole was noisy and although very soft in the step, the shoe doesn't give much bounce in return.

Ok, so here it goes. This was my first pair of Hokas. My cousin has had them for years and told me that if I was starting back into running to go with the Clifton 6. So I read, studied and pulled the trigger. Shoes look sharp, but unfortunately it seems they will be a casual shoe. The arc on these shoes are high, but more over the inserts are not impressive, and the midsole design is lacking. I have never had a blister from running shoes before but got a nice high arch blister on my left foot. It seems like the rim around the sole pokes down on the thin side walls. I wanted to love these, and will probably keep them, but was definitely let down.

I love my new Clifton 5s for mid-distance running (10-15 miles). They feel great on my feet and calves feel great too. I have two issues with the shoes... (1) I wish the upper was more breathable. I have started running ultramarathons this year and I sweat a lot. I am finding that I cannot wear these shoes much further than 15 miles as the shoes hold sweat, my feet stay wet and prune-up. I've tried changing to fresh socks but since the interior of the shoe is soaked it transfers to the fresh sock and they are quickly saturated too. (2) The second issue I have is with the high-pointed heel collar. Surprisingly it is fine when running; however, when I slow down and walk during my longer runs it pokes my ankle bone (the lateral malleolus), over, and over, and over, and over again. Unless you are a Jim Walmsley, most ultramarathoners will do some walking. This means my ankle bone is being poked for miles. Considering the Clifton is marketed as a road running shoe I am confused why they have this high-pointed heel collar. Usually this feature is on trail-shoes as protection for the achilles tendon. I had originally purchased these shoes hoping to wear them on upcoming ultramarathons. I love these shoes; however, I will limit them to my 10-15 mile training runs. I may also limit these shoes to cooler weather long runs.

I wanted to love the clifton 6 badly. and as soon as I fit in them I felt really good. But then i started to run and blisters popped, in places I rarely had before. Mostly on the outside of big toes as well as under the foot ball. I tried different socks, lotions etc. As much as they are fantastic shoes, unfortunately the fit didn't work for me. I tried to read forums online about Hoka and blister issues and it's very much a hit or miss. I would recommend this shoes no doubt, but fit is very personal. If it works for you, you have an amazing shoe. I just ordered the Rincon and I hope I will have a better luck with the fit.

Off the bat, these shoes looked promising. However, I was very disappointed when I put them on and immediately found them constricting my foot around the arch. I tried running in them to see if that would help loosen them up, but they caused my feet to cramp up. I decided this just wasn't the type of running shoe for me and returned it.

I bought 3 of the same HOKAs in different colors. All 3 were marker EE. Only one was wider and even the wider one was only slightly wider. I recommend anyone buying to double check the width by trying them on before using especially since they are so expensive.

These are terrible. I've owned several pairs and all of them seem to loosen up on the uppers. My last pair ripped on the side and didn't have many Mike's on them. I would never buy Hoka s ever again.

Rigid and less cushion. The sneaker seems narrow and is causing me pain. I work in a hospital and am running on my feet often and unfortunately, I wasted money on these sneakers and have to buy something else.
