Customer Reviews New Balance 1540v3

Since my normal go-to shoe (Brooks Ariel) was a total failure in the quality department, I needed to find another shoe that provided support and motion control for my flat feet and resulting overpronation problems. The New Balance 1540v3 has been an acceptable substitute. While it totally lacks some of the Ariel's features that makes walking easier and more comfortable, it's also been rock solid in the arch support department, and provides good motion control. This is a solid shoe, very stable, and well-made. True, they feel heavy and Frankenstein-like compared to what I've been used to over the last couple of decades, but it performs as advertised and they feel like they are going to be around for awhile, hence making them a good value. It's true that they are ugly as sin and stiff-soled, but you know what's uglier? Paying a lot of money for a shoe that is shoddily made and leaves one with ankle, foot, hip, and knee pain. Those other shoes-that-shall-not-be-named did that. This shoe did not. It's a good product and I recommend it for the flat of foot.

Have worn this shoe for many years. Very disappointed in the 1540V3... NOT the quality that it once was . I need a shoe that is for someone that overpronates , and the 1540 used to be a wonderful choice. Why was it changed but still the high price?

Nice looking shoe but poor insole (no cushion) and arch support. This was a vey disappointing and expensive purchase. I have been wearing New Balance for years but will begin looking at other brands for future purchases.

This shoe was uncomfortable for me. It seemed to lack shape and the tongue on my left foot hurt the top of my foot. Not sure why. It seemed to be big enough, but no matter how I laced, it was painful. There really was nothing I liked about the shoe once I put it on. Felt more like a box than a running shoe

Extremely hard sole. Don't buy this if you need more cushioning.

This shoe also needs to be made in a lower foot drop. It is a 10mm foot drop, which is total strain and damage on my back and back condition. It is to bad, because I need these stable ankle shoe support, yet they keep making them in high 10 or 12 mm foot drop. Can't do it. Why won't they serve more people with a low foot drop for crying out loud? Had to return them right away of course.

These hurt my feet and ankles terribly. They were wide enough to get on my feet but then the toe box was too big. The opening around the ankles is hard and unyielding. I do wanted to love these shoes, but alas it was not to be.

They had been put on by someone else and shoe string on right side had a knot in it and could not get the not out. They had been laced up by someone that tried them on and was not laced up right.

I need a tru narrow width, These are not.

I loved the shoe. It was wide enough in the front - but my heel slipped around. I guess I need a combination last!

Very disappointed. I've had NB for a while and usually they fit well. These feel too small and there is absolutely no arch support. Returning these needless to say.

I have been buying New Balance and this series of sneakers for many many years for my elliptical workout. They are pricey but usually very comfortable with excellent support and cushioning. NOT this pair. Mediocre support. Less support in the new sneakers than the worn out pair I'm replacing. The sneakers I got also creak loudly like old wooden stairs. Never been disappointed by a pair of New Balance sneakers: until now.

Zero Cushion

The extra width is great, but the shoes feel too long.

I really wanted these shoes to fit, but my heels slide up with every step. The shoe laces are too short for the shoe, and the shoe is too rigid for comfort. Returning these shoes as they are far too expensive to try to modify the fit.

Not enough cushion

This is a great shoe. In this case they shipped me a dirty used pair in a sealed plastic bag. Totally disappointing.

the fit was so tight on the top of my foot and after walking, I got a horrible pain on the top of my foot that also created shin splints. These shoes I guess should not be used to put orthodics and these shoes aren't for flat feet. I'm shocked because I've used other New Balance and these were recommended. I am icing my shin and foot as proof of my trouble.

Tried these on and they were very stiff and felt like they would be very uncomfortable; so unlike other New Balance sneakers that I have purchased. I was too hesitant to wear them out so I am returning them.

I just posted a terrible review of these shoes which developed a significant hole after just two weeks of wear. After I did, I realized I should have called Zappos and given them the opportunity to remedy the situation. So I called and a very friendly and personable customer service rep quickly offered to refund the purchase. Really appreciate their terrific service and friendly demeanor!

Do not buy! Two weeks of very low key wear and there is a hole on the side of the shoe. Very poor quality for a shoe this expensive!

The shoes were great, until they just separated across the top just above the laces … both of them … after only a few weeks. I fixed them once with Shoe Goo, which made them oh so attractive, but then I gave up and a pair of shoes with almost no wear on the soles went into the trash.

This shoe was used!! Very worn and dirty!! Arrived in a generic box with no tissue!
