Customer Reviews New Balance Made in US 990v5

I have diabetes and this shoe provides my feet the support they need for good circulation and support. New Balance customizes the shoe for length & width with added comfort and durability. My old pair is still usable for yard work (4 years old now) while my new pair is for out in public dress. I have gone to a New Balance shoe store to get exact measurement for my size , 12.5 4w, no guess work as its an investment in my feet.

The color just did not fit with any of his clothes.

I measure 11.5A on the left and 12A on the right, therefore nothing fits me. For one, who makes an A width anymore? I didn't have much trouble finding A's until the Eighties. Did our feet get wider as we got fatter? This shoe in 12AA (extra narrow) has been my best fit for decades. I use it as a casual shoe, and when they get worn down I use them for yardwork. BTW, I have custom orthotics for my flat feet. This shoe runs wide to me. The AA feels like an A or even a B. Compare it to the only other extra-narrow men's shoe that NB offers, the 847v3, which is a true AA, significantly narrower than the 990. I wish I could order an 11.5 for the left and a 12 for the right. The 12 is too long on the left and the 11.5 too short on the right. These shoes are too expensive to order 11.5 and 12 and mix and match, plus, what a waste that would be! The differences between v4 and v5 seem to be subtle and merely cosmetic. They generally last me a little over a year. I get holes in the toe box over the big toe and the support starts to break down. They offer good lateral stability, but the 847 walker provides a better stride. Don't expect to have dry feet in the rain. It's a great shoe but it has its limits.

Best fitting longest lasting pair of casual "gym type " shoes I have ever owned. It took me several years to wear out the 1st pair. No other shoe if this type can come close to New Balance. Keep up the Quality.

Love these shoes. Expensive, but they look great and offer a ton of stability, which is good for my 47 yr. old body.

Been wearing them for several weeks and they are doing well. Walked several miles in them already comfortable for me. I wear orthotics and can easily fit them inside these shoes.

I bought the 11 online regular and it fits perfect. That was after I went to the Lynnwood New Balance store and bought the 10.5 but I wore them for a couple weeks and now am stuck with a newish pair that I won't wear--anything I can do? Regards, Scott T

These shoes are awesome. Stylish and super comfortable. I've only worn them to work and for leisurely activities and can't speak to how they will holdup in a workout or run but so far I love them. Plus these are made in the USA which is a nice added bonus.

I'm 77 and have been wearing NB since my initial blue and red suede, three eyelet, waffle sole version I bought around 1963. I walk the talk: NB is the best constructed, best sized shoe in the world. Yes, in the world.

990 shoes are known for how comfortable they are, and the new colors look awesome!

Have had several 990's... love them for everyday wear... I found them a little hard for the half marathon distance... but as someone said these are a luxury liner and if they're not worn cleaning stalls they'll last a long long time! So well made! So comfortable overall!

These are the greatest shoes in the world!! I have a lot of knee and foot problems, I have tried multiple shoes and nothing has worked like these. They are so comfortable and are the best things that work best for me.

I'm a big guy. I tend to wear out shoes quickly. And it's hard to find a good fit in the first place. I put these shoes on shortly after I got them and it was like nothing I'd experienced before on my feet. I will be ordering a couple more pair soon to have in the closet as it seems like every time I find a good shoe, it gets discontinued soon thereafter. Please, New Balance, don't screw this up and discontinue this model!
