The fit and feel is no joke, you can feel the American made difference. The only problem with these shoes is the way they last. I do like to shop for new ones once and a while and you know these shoes are going to just keep going and going.

I've been wearing the NB 990v series for about ten years because I have wide feet and they're the most comfortable shoe I could find. They definitely change the feel of the shoe. Now it has a much more soft cushiony feel, with less support. Which I HATE!

I'm using the shoe for general walking, exercising and work at the office. I was surprised by how much narrower they were than other new balance shoes. I had to move into a D width shoe Which is still a little tight on the left foot. Shoe appears well built and had room for orthotics.

Shoes looks great. I have worn about 25 pairs of 990v4's and this was my first 990v5 and the heel slips and feels slightly smaller than the 990v4. I still have about 3 more new pairs of the 990v4 so I returned the shoes and will deal with this down the road a bit. Maybe with some more break in they would fit better but just disappointed.

I have been buying NB 900s from Zappos for several years through a multitude of versions. Prior to this purchase I was swayed by reviews of the new V5, and decided to try a similarly priced manufacturer’s product. This was not one of my best decisions.
The foreign produced shoe was well made and looked great. However, after Zappos did all they could to supply the proper size, the shoes still hurt my heals. Although I am no longer a competitive runner, I currently walk paved roads in the Blue Ridge Mountains 4 to 5 times a week. The 900v5 shoes have performed exactly as previous versions. They did not cause me any of the problems listed by other reviewers and I am again a believer in the New Balance shoes that are made in America.
I'd also recommend:
I will stay with New Balance exclusively.
