Great traction in the infield and outfield. Wide feet people will be happy. I'm a 14 4E and the toe box works for me.

I have several pair of the SpeedCross 5 including the Wide and like the regular 5 better than the Wide. The typical SpeedCross 5 is a bit more roomy than the 4 (which I felt were a little narrow). I find them to be very comfortable though perhaps a little light on cushion for very long distances (over 50K).
They offer very good grip in snow, mud, and rocky trails. The rubber compound is fairly hard and they seem to wear very slowly (I expected pavement to wear them fast, but they do better than expected). The upper has good padding on the collar and tongue, but not so much as to be annoying.
My only complaint deals with the lower portion of the upper not offering as much protection from lateral strikes to sharp rocks. That said, I am not sure I would enjoy the stiffness and security that added layers of protection here would provide.
In 500 miles, I have seen no rips, holes, or failures in the shoes, but I will retire them (or relegate them for very limited travel use where discarding shoes may be prefered to transporting dirty gear)

I'm so happy with this product, I read about it in some pages, and I wasn't sure what to expect from them. However, even though I read that they weren't that light, I found them super light and comfortable, they hold really good on naked rock and muddy trail, I been trying them in different kind of terrain, like jungle mud, and dry sandy mountain, and the have been performing really good.

Needed a good shoe to traipse through the Central PA mud on my training runs and the Speedcross 5's did not disappoint.
I felt like the shoes fit well as I tend to shove the heal back into the heal pocket before tightening to lock my foot into place. Toe box is nice and roomy. Shoes fit nicely overall, I run pain free in them and traction holds up nicely in the mud and when it's time to bound over rocks and roots too.

I have just started running trails again after years of staying on the pavement. These shoes offer great support and traction, keeping me confident in each footfall.

I purchased the Speedcross 5's about a month ago after a ton of research and deliberating which size to purchase. Get the size you normally wear. I wear a 12 in all of my shoes and the Speedcross 5 size 12 fits my foot perfectly. I use this shoe primarily for hiking with some occasional trail running, and it fits perfect, regardless of whether I have on a thin sock or a pair of merino hiking socks. I own 6 pairs of Salomon shoes, so I'm a bit of a fanboy, but these are my favorite Salomon shoes so far. If you're on the edge of getting them, just pull the trigger, you'll be extremely pleased.

The speed cross5 have been a great shoe. I actually purchased a could pair! They are great anywhere I take them. From working on my clinic and emergency room to the trail! These have been amazing. They sell to have slightly more arch support than the 4, slightly narrower in the toe box as well. Cannot go wrong with this shoe. On the trail they are also amazing. Great traction, daddy ok the feet and comfortable even after miles

Bought it a moth ago for upcoming races. Just breaking them in now but fit great. If your foot is wide make sure you get a wide model. My first pair was way too tight. The wides are perfect.

I've been a loyal customer to Nike Air due to leg issues and I come down hard on my heel. But the Nike's wear out fast and the sole separates. The Salomon's are my favorite by far so far (and I thought I tried all brands in the past) only issue is the run larger than Nike, I got the wide and it's perfect. I wonder if the regular is too narrow?? However the feel is great. Extremely happy!!

I'm on my third pair. Great motion control, nice heel cup. I have plantar fascitis issues in both feet and these shoes are great for that issue. I also need a motion control shoe and this fits the bill. Great color choices also.

Been wearing Speedcross for several years now, the 5's are quite an improvement over other versions. Light weight, great traction and responsive. Narrowed heal took a little getting use to, but I think it has helped my foot placement on technical trails. Great in muddy conditions.

My husband received these shoes as a gift and loved them. When they finally wore out he wanted the exact same ones, which we just ordered. He is just as happy with his second pair as the first. He runs on a dirt road and grass and these have great grip, plus they fit his wide feet.

A heavily hinted Christmas present. These shoes are exceptionally well designed and made with fantastic grip on soft and steep ground. Like the debris barrier, the laces, the high rubber round the outside and the look (got blue with black uppers). I shall keep these for off road only - want the tractor grip soles to last.
