I have a avid overlander and SWAT Operator. No matter if I'm in the mountains in on the beat, I need the best in comfort and stability. The speedcross 5 has been the best yet! With comfort, stability, and traction, it is the best I have worn in my career. I will wear nothing else..

I have about 100 miles of hiking on these and they have been incredibly comfortable. The quick lacing system snugs up fast and might need a snugging once in awhile, but much easier than retying and double knotting slippery laces. Feet feel secure and wrapped inside them and the toe box has been widened from the 3s I have. The sole feels much thicker on trail and the heel really dampens the strike when running down the trail. Traction is super on dry terrain and rocks, but I feel still could be better performing on wet rocks and slab as compared to other compounds being used out there. That is the only negative if I had to think of one. I did shoe goo the edge of the rubber toe guard back onto one shoe after only a few hikes, but they really took a beating on a few +10 mile hikes. That is a possible quality control control or design issue to be aware of. Overall, I love these shoes, and have moved away from wearing heavier mid hikers now after using these for everything. The lightness and nimble feel they give you, and spot on traction, make for my favorite all around hiker now.

I've been an avid Speedcross 4 and 5 buyer for years and I abuse the heck out of my shoes. See the picture on how they wear out for my foot pattern. The Speedcross 5 are amazing but the Gortex GTX models are 100% different and I hated them. The darker pair in the picture are the gortex versions, my feet sweat non-stop in them, they were hard and not comfortable from day 1 and never broke in to a point I actually thought they were okay. Maybe I got a 1-off but they were HORRIBLE so I highly recommend not getting them unless getting them soaked is super important which I thought was important to me but definitely not worth it. The Regular ones were absolutely amazing the second I put my foot in them so I was highly suspect when the GTX were not good but I still fell for it. Im currently buying a new pair of speedcross 5 :) But in all honesty, the regular ones are absolutely the best thing I've ever put my foot into. There are 3 things you need to do to get your life together, and owning a pair of these bad boys is one of them so smarten up & quit struggling!

A nice evolution from the Speedcross 4 with a few refinements in the style and the features. A little more comfortable and the speed lace thing works in a smoother fashion. The look - with less black overall - is more stylish and cleaner looking. One thing, for the 4s I wore a 12. I ordered a 12 with these and had to return and get an 11.5. So just know this may be an overall thing w the 5s.

Let me start by saying that I am not a dainty hiker. I'm a brute on the trail and go right through the good stuff quickly instead of keeping my shoes clean. I've owned both the speedcross 3s and 4s and have always enjoyed their durability and these new 5s seem to enjoy their success. I tested these with a tough/muddy 11 mile hike in the Adirondacks directly out of the box, I never even wore them around my house to break them in. Initially I was worried, as I thought they might be too big and cause slipping/blisters even though they were the same size as my last two pairs. It turns out there is just more room by the toes so they don't feel so claustrophobic and they stood up to my test just fine. The tongue is a little longer so its easier to tuck the lace in as well as more comfortable at the ankle bend. Even after getting a little wet they dry off very quickly and are very breathable. The stud patterns were excellent in propelling me through mud and over rocks and tree roots with minimal slipping. The only thing I DON'T like are the two "antennas" in the front of the shoe. (two studs like on the bottom but are at the very front of the toe) I'm sure they help in the mud, but I feel as though they are a little too high or come out a little too far as they caused me to trip on the way down 4-5 times. Nothing serious, but just enough to catch a small stick or root and hiccup the stride. I'll probably end up cutting or filing them off. Even so, these are a fantastic shoe and even more comfortable than the previous generations and very worth the money!

These are my second pair of Speedcross 5's. I loved the first pair so much that I wore them out on the hiking trails here in Western Colorado! These shoes are amazing! Great fit and even better technical features. I love the speed lace system. The secret pocket to secure the lace loop is a plus. You can't beat the agressive lug soles when it comes to trekking up steep grades or scrambling over boulder fields. Speedcross 5 is also very stylish. Just an all around great shoe!

On my second pair... One of the best trail shoes I've ever ran in. The fit is true, speedlaces work well and the traction is amazing on all surfaces.

Way back, I had an original pair of the speedcrosses and found them too narrow at the toe, and was not a fan of the anti-pronation split density sole. So I was much relieved that the new Speedcross 5 has improved on the original design. Fit is maybe a little large in relation to the XA Pro 3D's (of which I've owned 5 pairs over the years). I have flipper feet: narrow heels, low density, and flat/wide at the ball/toes. I'm normally between an 10.5 and an 11 in the XA Pro's, but I was swimming in the Speedcross 11's. So I returned for a 10.5, and they fit my feet like a glove... or a shoe that forms to your feet like a glove. Have put about 40 miles on my Speedcross 5's so far on mostly dusty/rocky trails in the desert foothills and mountains. Great grip, no blisters. Love how the material sheds dirt/debris. Got the blue with white soles, and that seems to help with heat build up when the temps go triple digits on the hot desert floor.

These replace a 3 year old model of Speedcross 5 gtx which were simply the best all around shoe I’ve ever owned. Fit like a glove. If your thinking about them just go for it you won’t be unhappy.

Shin splints went away. I typically just run trail, with rocks and sand, with these shoes. When all I can run on is pavement though they respond perfectly. Even on wet pavement they've had perfect traction and it feels like low impact. In the trail is really where these shoes shine though. Whether it's shale rock, soft sand, sticky red clay/mud, rain or shine these shoes seriously perform better than any other i've ever had. And again I run on pavement with them all the time.
