Good Looking shoe, quality construction. Seemed to require just a minimal amount of break-in time to be fully comfortable.

I'm happy I visited the Park Royal store. The staff are very knowledgeable. The staff member recommended the SpeedCross for hikes like the one in the title. Also, it's rare to get such great warranty support ( 2 years!) . This is my first pair of Salomon shoes. It won't be my last :)

I am a lifelong fan of Salomon shoes. The fit and quality of materials is unrivaled. I have high arches, and a wide toe box, and these shoes, as with my other Salomon shoes are perfect for my foot shape. Incredibly durable, my last pair had hundreds of miles of outdoor abuse, and are still comfortable and waterproof!

I am fairly new to trail running and almost a year ago bought a bargain pair of Speedcross Pro which I have used a lot and the more I have become familiar with the Salomon products the more I wanted to upgrade and try out the new Speedcross 5.
I have not had the benefit of using the models in between however the new Speedcross 5 is excellent and such a huge improvement on the previous model I wore that its like a completely different trail shoe.
It is extremely comfortable and fits well, although the alleged "go half a size larger if its Salomon" doesn't really ring true for me.
I have used it in both training and race days and from short distances up to 15 miles and they remain comfortable and your feet with the right socks do not overheat.
Excellent shoe that I would happily buy another pair of and also recommend to others.

My partner wanted this shoe for the aggresive tread heading into the muddy fall and snowy winter to have something to run in for Parkrun.
Obviously, as soon as it arrived, we had to take both our pairs out for a test run even though the weather was still mild. Though this shoe is heavier than what I usually run in, the smooth transition and good energy return of the shoe makes up for it. Even on sections of cobblestone and asphalt the lugs don't create too much pressure underfoot, and when the terrain gets rougher they're at their best.
I've been very satisfied with them, and will probably end up picking up the GTX version as well for the spring!

Having tried Speed Cross many years ago and found them too tight fitting I had never gone back however after reading reviews and needing a shoe designed for muddier conditions I opted for the Speedcross 5; I was not disappointed! I recently ran a 90km Ultra which consisted of a lot of peat bogs and these shoes did the trick! What I would say is that they are not very sticky on rocks so treat with caution but apart from this minor issue, I'd highly recommend this model.

The Solomon Speedcross 5s are awesome! Exceptional overall design and construction especially with the GTX model! The new low-profile laminated construction saves weight and it's looks super slick! The new thicker and more durable, better treads are awesome as well, they're way more comfortable and more adaptable when walking on wet tarmac if needed. There is one feature I'd definitely would like to see added to these sneaker and that is there needs to be an additional centered "climbing" shoelace loop in the center of the top portion of the four-foot for a stronger adjustability/hold in the toe-box. Because Solomon have now lengthened and widen the toe-box a little too much, they've slightly overcompensated now. It's simple if you have wide feet get the wide model. I do not. There is exceptional underfoot comfort with good arch support but I would like to see even more arch support in the OrthoLite insoles, and the height of the drop is totaly perfect. If Salomon makes the toe-box any bigger it's going to be too sloppy, as it is already slightly sloppy already for me compared to the Speedcross 3s which I admit were snug. Never had the 4s. The Speedcross 5 GTXs are by far the best Outdoor Gore-Tex Sneakers on the market! I am the one that requested Salomon to bring GTX / Gore-Tex model here to the States, so thank you Salomon :) I'd like to see the toe-box shortened by 1 or 2 mm as well as the 1 or 2 mm in the width, as the toe-box has become a bit too sloppy now. In years past with some of the complaining about the toe-box being too narrow Salomon has now overcompensated to much unfortunately, but the design and construction is excellent! I have now purchased three pairs because I like them so much, I would just like to have the toe-box slightly tweaked/decreased by 1 to 2 mm a bit. It would be cool to see this exact same upper with midsole with a hybrid tread geared for slippery tarmac conditions, and also a mid version with some ankle support. GearFreakNY Approved!

I started with the SpeedCross 5 Wide and then tried these becasue the wide seemed loose. I tried these out with a local 50K as my first run in them and they did great. I recommend these for technical or sloppy trials.

These are my second set of Speedcross 5. These are a nice upgrade over the Speedcross 4 - better material, better mud shedding. Used these in the Spartan Trifecta World Championships last week and they performed perfectly in all terrain. Love the fit, comfort and performance. Only recommendation is to go back to the black sole (white is a bad choice).

I have three pairs of speed cross 5's. Love them. Still working on destroying the first pair. Few more hundred miles I will be done with them. They performed really well in the Spartan Trifecta in Hawaii.
