This my absolute favorite sneaker! It fits like a glove, super comfortable, and looks great. The only issues I have with this shoe is that it isn't waterproof. If the shoe ever hits water, my shoe will smell every time I wear it. If they make those fixes it will be the perfect sneaker.

Second pair of these! Still challenged to fully adjust to the minimalist sole but that's not the shoe's fault. With tightening the laces significantly I can get them form fitting to my narrow size 6 feet but they still leave room in the toebox. True to size. Best fitting minimalist issues I've been able to find.

I ordered a size 8 which is always my size and they were a little big so I returned them.

I gave 4 stars and a 4 for comfort, only based on trying them on at home; I will be returning...read on! I did read reviews about sizing down, but since I have a wider foot decided to order my regular size (9.5). Should have listened to the reviews; they were easily a half size too big...since return shipping is not free, I am returning and will be trying to find a place to try them on before going through another trial and error process.

I just bought the Trail Glove 5 as my running/trail running shoe. Typically I have had the Vapor Glove style but decided I wanted a little more protection. The Trail Glove vibrum sole reaches around the heal. I haven't had a chance to take it on a long run yet, but I love the feel of it: it gives me support while keeping the barefoot style.
The only thing is it is a little narrow. My feet are typically a little wider, especially because I have semi-bunions (gross I know), and I would prefer a little more space.

This shoe fits like a glove. Unfortunately the tread is not as great as i was hoping for and I still tend to slip a lot while trail running and hiking.

I am a long-time wearer of Merrell's barefoot trail running shoes, all the way back to the OG pace gloves, and these are a solid shoe in the line. They are not my favorite but they will do. I'm sad that these replaced the trail glove 4, which are hands down my absolute favorite trail running shoe ever. I have high arches and a history of plantar fascia tears in the arches of my feet. The 4 had this webbed strapping up the inside arch of the shoe combined with the burrito tongue, made them feel literally like a glove. These are a very solid shoe, but those features were abandoned in the 5 and I truly miss them. That said, the colors on these are amazing! I got the aqua and it's a stunning shoe. I also really like the sole, even though it is not nearly as flexible as previous iterations of the trail glove. The new Vibram sole is solid and made for a comfortable and stable run.

I find the fit to be perfect. They are very slightly larger than my size 8 more traditional runner.. but not a bad thing. They snug up nicely mid foot and have lots of space for toes. ONLY thing is... I immediately noticed less shock absorption than my last runners.. lots of flat rock on the trail... felt more jarring/vibration.. I will purchase insoles and once that is done I'm sure I'll be 100% happy.

I typically wear an 8 or 8 1/2. I have Merrell's sandles in an 8, Based on reviews about them running big I went with a size 8. The arch was great but my toes were on the end of the shoe. Customer service sent return labels and the 8 1/2's arrived just a couple days later. They are longer but the arch doesn't feel as good but they will do. There wasn't a huge difference between sizes I live that they are stable but minimalist.

I loved the colours of those trainers. They are very comfortable and have a good plantar support. they do wear a bit larger, by they are perfect for wide feet.

The shoes fit well except the arch is a lot higher than I'm used to with conventional running shoes. I improved my form to adapt to that, and I run faster now than I did before! I use these shoes mostly for running on the back roads near my house, but when I get the chance I do trail running, my true passion, which they are wonderful for. I also walk in and wear these for work, which involves a lot of walking, for which they work wonders as well.

They stated shoe ran big, not big ,wide.so is my foot. I can wear the shoe but would have ordered 1/2 size bigger for comfort . Arch is a perfect fit, very light weight, I love my Merrell shoes I own multiple, have always been happy with the shoes and durability

I bought this for weightlifting and the occasional trail run (I typically run on the road) and I very much enjoy it. It has good arch support for a minimalist shoe, but as another reviewer pointed out it does seem a tad bit wide or roomy in the heel, but nothing that had noticeably affected the fit during a workout. I definitely do recommend sizing a half size smaller. I'm an 8.5-9 shoe and I had to buy an 8. I originally bought an 8.5 and it was definitely too roomy. Unfortunately when I exchanged for an 8, the color I preferred was no longer available, so definitely order correctly the first time. So i highly suggest a half size smaller. I listened to the other reviews who said it wasn't necessary to size down and I regret that.

I love these for trail running. Only issue is that the bottoms are very slippery on surfaces that are even slightly damp.

These shoes are lightweight which makes it so freeing to run with them. The extra mid-sole support took some getting used to since I have gone to zero drop, minimal shoes. However, my feet have adjusted to the feel and I have not noticed any adverse effects. They are a bit longer than I thought they would be, so a thicker sock might be needed. I wouldn't size down though, because they would be too narrow. I haven't taken them out to the mountains, but I am not sure how they would hold up with rough terrain. They are thin which makes great trainers out of them.

They fit perfect and feel like you're walking on air. However, I have never slipped on a trail as much as I have with these shoes. To be fair, it was a trail criss crossing a stream so you had to go from wet mossy rock to wet mossy rock, but I was not expecting the amount of falls and near falls I had. On the dry surfaces this shoe was amazing, just a heads up before you take them out in a wetter environment.

I am into functional fitness. That is to say I run, lift weights, etc. I didn't buy this shoe so much for running on trails as I did to deal with the Yuma desert. These shoes are a bit more stiff than I recall. I started training in 2011 with Merrell minimalist shoes (I couldn't recall the name if I saw it, sorry) then tried Reebok Nano and Nike Metcon when it was time for new shoes. My feet, when doing repetitive weighted movements, always exhausted and I would take whatever I had on my feet off. The toe box in both brands is wide (Nike shocked me as they are traditionally narrow). I finally came back to the minimalist shoe. It was a toss up to go with a stiffer shoe but we have rocks, 2in+ thorns, and goat heads (basically the end of a flail, but smaller with thorns). A sturdier bottom seems to handle well, I haven't had any thorns stab my foot yet, so I guess you could say things are going well. The sturdier sole comes at a cost, however. These shoes aren't as flexible. The arch is also very stiff and takes some getting used to. I also wear these with socks. I seem to get blisters on my heels without them.
Overall, this is a great shoe. With some breaking in (whether it's me or the shoe is debatable) they're comfortable. I ordered the Ever Glove as well to do a comparison.

I recently purchased these to replace my trail glove 2 shoes. I usually wear a 9.5 in women's. I sized down a half size to 9 women's but these shoes still feel big. I think the heel in these shoes is wider. I wanted to exchange these for a 8.5 but they are out of stock now in this color. I don't think these shoes will last me as long because of the fit. I would love if I could get the 8.5. My advice is to buy two pairs closest to your size and see which one fits better. Then return the extra.

I own several pairs of Vapor Gloves and love them. I was looking for a sturdier sole for trails and hiking. The arch on these shoes is too far forward and way too aggressive. Also, I’m usually a size 8, I always order 7.5 in Merrell Gloves. They tend to run half size large. Besides the arch support being too aggressive, the shoes fit perfectly: wide toe box, perfect sole for hiking. The arch is a deal breaker for me. Too uncomfortable. Returning.

I bought these for some intense hiking! They are very comfortable but the grip on the trails are not the best. I will wear them when I do easy trails but I am purchasing a different pair with better soles.

Beautiful color (dragonfly) and there are really no 'bad' shoes from Merrell! but i was looking for a really really minimal 'feeling barefoot" shoe to help with my balance and this has a bit more substance to it. that said it would probably be perfect for trail running and should hold up well... after reading some reviews i ordered my normal size and a half size smaller - they both 'fit' but the half-size smaller made the difference in properly aligning the important arch support.

This shoe came smaller than expected. It says it runs large so I ordered a 7.5 instead of size 8. I should have ordered my regular size! Now they are out of stock of my preferred color and I have to return the shoe.

Love the Trail Glove 5; In dress shoes I wear a sz 7.5, in runners I have always worn a 9. I sized down based on the recommendation of several reviews on this website and purchased the sz 8.5. They are incredibly comfortable and functional, but based on the width and length, I have turned these into walking shoes. I'm about to repurchase them in a sz 8 so that there isn't quite so much of a gap between where my arch should be and where the support is.
