I have wide, flat & bunioned feet, so the width in this style is great! I just don't like the insole of Hoka shoes, i change them to Dr. Scholl's gel inserts to give more bounce & cushion.

Nice show but I returned. Something about the fit wasn’t right. Arch support in wrong place and ran slightly large. But I have problem feet so maybe my fault

The Challenger ATR is a good shoe with good support. I prefer the arch support of the Clifton 5 but the soles of the ATR seem to be wearing a better than the Clifton. I prefer the "looks" of the Clifton. I am hoping the next version of the Clifton (version 7) brings back the arch support that was in version 5. I have narrow feet and so far only the ATR and Clifton seem to fit me for the purposes of power walking.

I love the shoe but it's a bit too small. Can't exchange it since my size isn't available. Very disappointed in that but it's a great shoe

I run distance 3 times a week and love the shoes. I do not like the color choices at all but settled with the blue.

I ordered these to replace an older pair of Challenger ATRs that have some mileage on them. Even new out of the box these shoes did not have the padding and comfort that my old ATRs did. I ended up going with the Stinson ATR which had much better padding especially in the forefoot where I need it most. The arch support on the Stinsons is also quite good. Sad because this was a great shoe. I actually bought two pairs at the time because I was worried they might change it and it appears so. : (

Once inserting my Sole shoe inserts and heel support the shoe was perfect. Plenty of room for all sizes of orthotic insoles and accessories. The sole absorbs a lot of shock and my joints feel better after long walks. Which are 1-3 a day everyday. (I have a dog).
The laces provide extra support around the arch area where I need it most. Enough toe box room. The shoe fabric is a bit stiff looking and the gray is a tad institutional but my feet were very happy so I over look that. Otherwise they are decent looking shoes. Run a bit large but I don’t mind because of the insoles. If they made less shoes with bright white soles ...

I love the sole of this shoe. Sadly the upper is fairly stiff and rubbed/pinched the top of my foot with ever step. They are going back. They seem like great shoes just not for me.

My first time wearing Hokas. I work on concrete all day and this shoe has been amazing. No more foot pain. They are great. Can't wait to get a second pair.

I've had 4 surgeries on my right foot and one on my left foot. I need a wide toe box, especially on the right. When I saw that the Hoka One One Challenger ATR 5 came in a medium and wide with, I decided to try the shoe. I wear trail running shoes most of the summer, because I'm often on trails with my dogs and I like the light weight and the grip. The Challenger ATR 5 is perfect. I ordered the medium width and the toe box fits well, even if I'm wearing my toe splint. The shoe is cushioned well and does not rub at all. The Challenger ATR 5, also, has a longer tongue than the Hoka One One Stinson, so when the shoe is tied, the 'knot'/shoestrings don't cut into the area of your ankle that flexes. Arch support is something I don't usually notice, unless it's too much...or none at all. This arch support was noticeable when I first put the shoe on. However, I've worn the shoe for about 6 hours now and don't notice the arch support at all.

I absolutely love the fit of this shoe, but they 100% cannot be worn on technical or slippery terrain. Also the sole wears down way too fast. I have to wear my Speedgoat EVO to do any sort of technical trails, but those are not nearly as comfortable as my Challengers.
For reference, my foot is on the wide-ish side, but not enough to buy wide width shoes. The fit of the Challenger accommodates that well and offers enough cushion to keep my feet from getting sore during long runs. (Unlike the Speedgoat EVO that gets tight and uncomfortable on my feet after a couple hours.)
Hoka, please put a Vibram or grippy durable sole on the Challengers for the next model and they will be nearly perfect!

I was hoping that the Challenger would be as comfortable as the Clifton 6, but, alas, they were a bit too narrow - boo hoo!

I bought these shoes in June 2019. I used them to run trails and train for a 25K trail race end of October. They are sooooo comfortable! They are my favorite running shoes so far! (I've been running for 18 years) Now, it is November 2019 and I just discovered small holes on the insides of both of the shoes, a tear in the mesh right next to the soles. I gave these 4 stars because I am disappointed that they have holes so soon. I understand that running trails increases wear and tear, but still, it feels too soon for mum favorite shoes to be breaking down.

I liked the shoe when I tried it on, but when I was going to wear it for the first time, I noticed the back of the shoe folded down and there was some rubbing on the heel cuff. I figured out that the foam did not continue up the entire back of the heel so it was creating this rub point and because there was no foam there, when you put the shoe on, that part of the shoe folded inside the shoe. So even though I liked them, my pair was defective and I am sending them back.

Love these sneakers. I wear size 7 and these are a bit loose but so comfortable and supportive for workout classes and walking. They look great and I got a great price!

I like New Balance and Brooks also

My orthopedic surgeon recommended rocker soled shoes. I have an implant in one foot and arthritis. I did the research and the Challenger fit the bill. I live in these shoes. They are the only style of shoe I can wear without discomfort.

I love this brand. I am trying to replace my Speedgoat 2. No longer available. These shoes felt and looked very clunky!
May have felt comfortable but didn't give them a chance.

I really love these. They're comfortable and stable and basically just what I was looking for. Only problem is, after less than a month of owning them and less than 20 miles on them, the material by the toe has a chunk hanging off and the bottom looks overly worn for the wear (I do not wear these on pavement). I live in Georgia so we're not talking crazy terrain. Problem is I don't really want to be without them long enough to return! So, great shoe but sadly I don't expect them to last.

Very cushiony shoe with a low toe- to-heel differential. Good for minimalist running or walking.

These fit much different than the older version. They seem to be wider and not as flexible. I find them to be too clunky for me. They have great cushioning but my foot is much too narrow for these.

I am an overpronator with arthritis in both of my knees. I originally purchased these as trail running shoes. While the fit and the cushioning are great, they are not very supportive. Even with my orthotics in them, I feel myself rolling around a bit. However, I need the cushioning and will continue using them until I can get something more stable. Hoka, PLEASE make a stability trail running shoe with moderate cushion- a Gaviota with more aggressive tread??

Forefront of the shoe felt fine. I have a problem sometimes with the side of the heel being too high for my foot and unfortunately, this one of those shoes. I actually thought the shoe was better looking than a lot of Hoka's I've had.

I love hoka shoes! I'm a waitress and on my feet a lot! I'm also overweight since having my son. If I wear any shoes but HOKA, my knees hurt at night after being on my feet all day. HOWEVER.... I have wide feet, and I really appreciate all the new colors that you're starting to offer in wide! It's so wonderful! But please offer the cute colors in wide too! I always find the most beautiful pair only to find it's not on the 'wide' list. I would love your plum and poppy red color in wides. Please expand your wide section! And thanks for what you already have!

These shoes offer a high level of support and "squish." However, for me, it felt like my foot was swimming in the them (too wide - and I have a wide-ish foot/rarely say a shoe is too wide). My favorite Hokas are the Speedgoats.
