We just got back from a 3 hour hike in Sedona up a moderate to extreme trail and I wore these shoes for the first time. While I thought about the careful climb and incredible views, I never once thought about my feet. I scaled the slippery surfaces and rocky trials straight up with no problems. My thighs are burning and I am exhausted, but my feet are fantastic. I cannot say enough about how much I love these shoes for trails and hiking! I am a 6.5 to 7, mostly wear a 6.5 and the 6.5 fits perfectly. For correct support, don't size up!

Needed a pair of cushiony shoes for distance walks/runs on gravel and dirt trails. The Hoka One One Challenger appealed to me for its light weight. Most true hiking/trail running shoes are heavy. These are amazing! First time out, did 5 miles without even feeling a thing!! It’s my first pair of Hoka’s but I can’t imagine it’ll be my last! Well worth the $. Oh, I’m an 8.5 in regular shoes, 9 in running shoes and these 9’s fit perfectly. I bought the charcoal gray/blue accents pair and love the neutral color.

Have suffered with plantar fasciitis for years. After wearing my first pair of HOKA shoes for two days, the pain was gone. This is actually my third pair now. Wont buy any other brand now.

I bought this shoe for work. I am on my feet for 12 hours work day. Even the first day, they needed no breaking in period. Very comfortable.

I'm trying to love Hokas. I had a pair when they first came out and the soles wore out so quickly it took me years to try again. Seems to be the same situation. I struggle with the idea of having to replace my trail shoes every 2-3 months. I wore these twice and the soles are cracking splitting. They feel great and nice wide toe box but it's a dealbreaker. No reason this can't be a good Vibram sole on top of the cush. I have an old pair of New Balance that I've had for three years and the soles are still strong, keep going back to those. Hope Hoka can figure out how to combine their trademark squish with a solid outsole.

I wanted to love these. I had originally ordered a size 10 (my normal size) and they were too large so I got the 9.5 instead. The length was good but the feel was off - like my foot wasn't sitting in the right place inside the shoe. Also, the toe box is narrow along the inside (big toe side) of the shoe. I wear B width shoes and don't have wide feet, but these felt tight along the sides. I had to return them for Saucony Xodus ISO3, which are true to size and fit very well.

These shoes are so comfortable but within less then six months of wear I have holes in each shoe. The rubber toe guards don't extend far enough. Very disappointing. I can no longer wear these to work bc of the obvious holes.

These were great initially. Then the mesh on the top fell apart after 6 months and the arch support fell flat and it aggravated my plantar fasciitis.

Very comfortable sneakers right out of the box. Light weight and feels like I’m walking on marshmallows. Highly recommend for anyone who must wear wide shoes.

I bought these because I wanted something to handle the rails-to-trails and paved greenways that I run on frequently, and maybe a little single-track action for the squirrelly days. These fit the bill! Length is spot-on across the board on Hoka, in my opinion. The Challenger ATR 5s feel great on my high instep, high arch foot with plenty of room at the toe box too. The arch support is incredible and hits in the exact right spot. The cushion is great: comfortable with good rebound. The tread gave me good confidence running on some looser sections without being so bulky and knobby that pavement feels awkward. The upper is nice and breathable without feeling unsupportive and flimsy.
I also need to praise Hoka for their lacing. Their magical combo of lace choice and upper construction makes it so easy to get a snug fit without having to wrestle to tie and maintain tension at the same time.

Ugly and comfortable. I've suffered from plantar fasciitis for several years and this show works better than popular name brands I have tried. Lots of cushion.

I have been wearing Altras exclusively for 5 years for running, walking, hiking, backpacking, and the gym, but revisited Hokas because of their dreamy cushioning. I had done of the original Hoka Cliftons, Arahis, and Ultra Tor hiking boots. While I liked them, I was not in love with any of them only due to fit. I couldn't get a perfect fit in an 8 or 8.5. Since it has been several years, I decided to give the Challengers a try. I purchased them in an 8 Wide, since previous experience and reviews told me they ran narrow. I have a slightly wide forefoot, average midfoot, and narrow heel. I went with an 8 because I know Hokas run true to size, if not a bit long, when it comes to length. The shoes felt perfect when I first put them on, but they felt a bit tight in the forefoot after several hours. This was quite a surprise since I don't wear a wide in any other shoe that I own. So, I only wear these shoes for a few hours at a time. It may seem like I've overrated these shoes considering that even the wide feels a bit narrow, but they truly are perfect otherwise. They provide great cushion, support, breathability, and traction. They are also Hoka's best looking shoe in my opinion. I do recommend purchasing these shoes in your normal size, but definitely order a wide if you have even a slightly wide foot.

These are the best shoes I own and I have 25 pairs of running shoes! I bought these shoes for hiking since I did not want heavy hiking shoes. These are for running trail, I loved them so much because of its weight that I started wearing them to the gym and every day run. I have tried different Hoka but the other are more narrow in the front and not as comfortable. I will buy one more pair in a different color.

This style is very satisfactory, although I definitely had to put in my own orthotics. There is virtually no support and they are pretty flat. But the length and width are great. Going to keep them!

I'm flat footed and have tried some many different types of shoes. I stand all day at work on concrete and walk close to 10 miles a day. Then I purchased some Hokas and I have never looked back. I can't say enough about how amazing these shoes are. I now have all my coworkers wearing them!!!!

I will never buy another brand of shoes. Hoka charger atr5 are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I have flat feet and where a size 8 in ASICS shoes. I bought a size 8 in the Hokas and they are perfect. Runs are a breeze now! They absorb the shock well from the road and are the perfect balance of cushion and stability.
Additionally, Zappos was responsive and excellent to buy from. I would buy these shoes again and would purchase from Zappos again. I’m an all around happy customer.

This is my second pair. I had a pair in purple but sadly they no longer have that color in regular size 9. It's a good running shoes. Feels like on the cloud but still a lot of stability.

I ordered wide in these after trying a regular Hoka and feeling it was narrow. I normally wear a regular width in Keen, but for Hoka I need wide for toe room. I love the cushioning and the arch support. Only thing I don’t like is the lack of back heel support when walking up hills, feels less steady, but maybe I’ll get stronger in those areas.

I’m flat footed so I had no comment on arch support. The toe box is wide and roomy. The shoe cushioning is good. I have a wide foot and I pronate but no problems with the shoe. I think I will probably reorder again. I’ve formerly worn BROOKS and ASICS both in wide widths. These seem more comfortable than both of those.

This shoe runs narrow to me. I have a narrow foot and it is snug in the width. The length feels true to size. The cushion is good...similar to the Bondi 6 to me. I may try either a women's wide...or a men's regular to see if the width issue improves. I am dealing with plantar fasciitis (now in 5th month)...and am looking for good walking shoes. Overall, these felt good...just too narrow.

Ordered a 9 but felt a half size too long since foot slid front to back, returned shoes and went with an 8.5. Now the shoe is too small but I could possibly make this work if the midfoot section wasn't so tight; this shoe squeezes on my metatarsal and causes pain at the top of my foot.

I have neuromas, torn plantar fascia, and high arches, with a wide forefoot. The fit of these Hokas was awesome and I literally danced down the trail! No pain, even after elevation changes of 5000 ft and 10+ miles & some 8-hour days. However, after less than 70 miles total (20 mile training hike, then a 50 mile backpacking trip (5 days) in the northern Sierra granite, the shoe is tearing apart. The front toe guard and rear heal solid tread is separating away from shoe. ALSO, the cushion part of the sole is almost totally torn off. So disappointing. I need to complete a 25-day backpacking trip soon and I thought I'd found THE SHOE to make the journey totally pleasant. I'm hoping for successful warranty claim. I guess if someone doesn't need durability, and is hiking on packed dirt only, these might last.
