The shoes are slightly larger than I need. I ordered up, but perhaps I shouldn't have. The tread is great, and provides wonderful traction on the mucky Maryland trails. The sole is not as rigid as I would like. I have run on rocks in hiking boots before, and wish the soles had more rigidity like my hiking boots.

First pair of Hoka. Trying Challenger ATR5 for mix of road and trail. So far I like them. Comfortable ride and support.

I love the foot bed, tread, and comfort of this shoe. It helps the plantar fasciitis I have been experiencing. It is a little wider than I expected.

I ordered this shoe by accident but it turned out to be my best purchase! The width and toe box fit perfectly and are comfortable right out of the box.

I have some difficulty buying sneakers that support my flat feet. These are great for me.

Very comfortable, nice cushion for me and I have Plantar Fasciitis. This is my 2nd Hoka One One pair I own.

This is a nice option for those who want a wide toe box in a running shoe, it is lightweight and fairly stylish. I'm usually a 9.5 extra wide in New Balance and Brooks, and I thought I would try the 9.5 wide in this shoe. The forefoot area of the shoe had plenty of room, but the midfoot was far too narrow for my foot, particularly on the lateral (outer) sides. I have sent them back and will try to get a few more miles out of my Brooks.

Love HOKA Challenger shoes! However, three days after wearing them, they began to "squeak"when I walked! Still trying to quiet the "squeak"-any suggestions? Haven't had this problem with any of my previous ones.

We walk 4 to 5 miles a day. Been wearing Hoka Challengers for about 2 years. With my high instep the medium width is wide enough for my feet so that works out nice; normally I have to get wide widths. The lift from front to back is critical also for my back of the heel calcium deposits relieving inflammation of my achilles tendon. It puts less strain on my achilles tendon. I wear size 10.5 which is 1/2 size bigger than my regular shoes - to be sure my toes have plenty of room.

These ran shorter than my current Hoka's (though both have the incredibly comfortable foot bed).

I loved the looks of these but I am a size 8 and they were really long - felt more like a 8.5 or even a 9.

I was disappointed this shoe was advertised as being wide, but it is not as wide in the toe box as my last pair of Hoka's, I do like them otherwise

I'm 43 and wear a size 12 in women's sneakers and size 11 in men's sneakers. It nice to finally have a company making sneakers for women with "big" feet. I grew up having to wear men's sneakers and hiking boots and have always battled with the width more than the length. HOKA tends to run on the wide side so that is the only reason I gave 4 stars. My foot runs medium to narrow. However, the Hupana 2 in men's fits me perfectly because they run on the narrow side. The Challenger ATR 5's are super super comfortable. I'm 6', 250 pounds so with my frame and height I need a sneaker that will protect my knees and my back when I am on the move. I wear these only off road when I am hiking with my dog. It took me a while to get used to the amount of cushion they have compared to my La Sportiva's but I definitely noticed a difference in how my legs felt by the end of the hike thanks to that cushion.

I hike up and run down in these shoes all over the Colorado Rockies. The support they provide helps my arthritic hip not get aggravated. I like that they are stylish and not clunky even with all of the support.

Great shoe. Need to keep improving the sole. The added lugs has improved the wear but mor needs to be added just forward of the heal to add to its longevity.

Great shoe. I was hiking in Speedgoats but they were wearing out too fast. We will see how these go!

The shoe is comfortable but is a little big. They fit good the day after a long run, I suppose my feet are swollen at that point.

I'm using these mostly for exercise walking, to support my very high arches. They did cause blisters on the first few times, but those stopped after my feet got used to the shoes. I would highly recommend them for those with high arches.

Although this Hoka style is fine, I much prefer the Clifton which I believe has more cushion and a "lighter" feel. I think these sneakers, which are made in Viet Nam, are really overpriced.
I'd also recommend:
Hoka Clifton

I love the HOKA challenger, fits well and is comfortable on the very first run. The tread is great and cushioning appropriate. However the seam along the bottom on the inside of the toebox is already thinning and will likely tear soon, I have run trails in them about 6 times for about 45 miles. The upper fabric on the Clifton has never torn there and is much more stretchy. I wish the Challenger had the same upper, feel it would hold up better. Still I do love the fit of the Challenger and would likely buy it again, even realizing I have to replace it more frequently.

I found this new Hoka to be very similar to the model I have worn for several years. I walk 2 miles a day on dirt road and the last pair is pretty worn on the sole but it's still useable after 1.5 years. I expect this new pair to last as long!

I normally wear an 8.5 in Hoka Challenger, so I bought 8.5 M in this style and my toes had plenty of room. I have the orange sole ones and I have had them close to a year, and they are starting to hurt so I figured it was time to replace them. I like the grey-primrose color and yellow. Very cool. But sadly they felt the same so returned them. I developed a nueroma so I need my toes to splay and not go numb. Going to try Newtons and Altra. Zappos you are great, thank you for letting me buy and return with no hassle. I really just want to find a sneakers that meets my needs. Returning is something I hate doing.

I just wore these for the first time on a run of pavement and trail. The shoes are so comfortable and even cuter in person, I typically have hip and ankle pain after every run/hike, but today it was minimal. I only give it 4/5 stars because Hoka has nonexistent customer service. I tried every method of communication I could find, and no response. So I definitely recommend the shoes but not buying from the website. Find a retailer if you can.
