Although I’ve been wearing this same shoe by Brooks for the last several years, when I purchased this new pair I found the insole lacks the degree of cushioning than the previous pairs. The insole gives very little support and I will have to buy better insoles to achieve the fit I need.

I ordered my regular size and found them tight. I then ordered a 1/2 up and they fit perfect. Really like the stability of this athletic shoe.

Nice wide shoe. My orthotics fit, in the shoe but I'm an overpronator and I didn't get enough support in the shoe. Unfortunately I need to return and find something with more support. Cute shoe, though!

I've now had my Brooks for about 6 months. I wear them on weekends and every morning when taking my pup for a walk. They are so comfortable. They aren't the Ariel's of past (which I miss) because the past Ariel's just seemed to fit a little better around the ankle -not tight but also not loose. The Brooks brand was recommended to me years ago since I overpronate. These have just the right amount of arch support and stability I need. I highly recommend.

The arch support was too high and really hurt my feet. The overall shoe felt fine, but the arch pain was just too severe.

Ariel is a solid stability shoe and I appreciate the wide width option. I ultimately had to buy the men’s version (Beast). There is something in the Ariel fit and sizing that makes the footbed uncomfortable and hits awkwardly in my arch area. I tried a few size options, but nothing worked. The men’s medium width is the same as women’s wide and the men’s design worked well and seems slightly more streamlined than the women’s. I purchased 1.5 sizes smaller in men’s. If this shoe works for your foot, it will feel solid, very cushioned, and controls pronation beautifully like the men’s Brooks Beast.

Too Stiff. !!! Uncomfortable for long walks. Very good arch support but stiffness spoils them.

Liked the larger toe box, but very heavy. Returned. Back to the Brooks Adrenaline.

This shoe surprised me. Usually I order a 9W. This order is a 9WW. Instantly comfortable. My orthotic fits well. The only negative is the styling: the gray and the colors clash and there is a strange postage-stamp-size silver patch on the toe portion. Weird.

This is the second pair of Brooks Ariel I have purchased. They are very cushioned and comfortable and I log almost 30 miles walking each week. They are great for older active walkers with arthritis.

Rubbed on heel

The shoes were really cute and they fit well, but the left shoe made a horrible squeaking sound with every step I took on an uncarpeted floor. The sound was pretty loud, too. Family members joked that I would never be able to sneak up on anyone with these shoes! I returned them in favor of a quieter shoe.

I found the heel too high making it push my toes into the front of the shoe. Also, it was somewhat difficult to slip on.

After reading the reviews about the Ariel 18, I decided to play it safe & order half a size larger than normal. I have worn the Brooks Addiction Walker in leather for years in size 10. The Ariel 18 in size 10.5 was still too small. I am returning them. If you are like me and prefer plenty of toe room, I'd advise ordering a full size larger than you normally wear. The cushioning and support were excellent thought. I've tried other brands and Brooks just can't be beat when it comes to support & cushioning. If you have any type of foot problems, you should try Brooks shoes.

These were pretty, and I'm sure would be comfortable, but they just looked too bulky when I tried them on.

These shoes have a wide toe box and fit bunions comfortably. The support is excellent as is the stability. It is a great shoe for those who pronate. However, my heel slips in these and my sock work down into the shoes. I’ve tried a half size smaller but they are too tight on my feet. Also, there is not a lot of cushion, the shoe has a firm feel to it. I like the lighter gray which is all they had in stock in the extra wide. However, the hot pink accents are horrible. Come on Brooks and give us wider shoes without the pink!
