For someone with flat and wide feet, bunions, and a displaced sesamoid, these shoes felt great! Thank you for not adding extra reinforcement at both the big and small toe areas, and of course the extra cushion on the bottom. In the previous model, that toe reinforcement was there, and bothered those of us bunions on both sides of our feet. Great roomy area in the toe box too!

Finally! After trying on and sending back several pairs of Brooks, I've finally found a pair that fits well. I was so disappointed that they stopped making the Addiction 12. The 13s just didn't work for me. The Ariel 18 comes closest to the fit I had in my Addiction 12s.
At first, the hard plastic logo bugged me, but I got used to it after a few hours. Overall, this shoe is comfortable. The toe box is roomy. The back is padded nicely. The cushiony gel insert is nice--though I swapped it out for my custom inserts, which fit nicely.
I never would have guessed that this bargain hunter would ever be satisfied with $160 sneakers, but being able to wear a comfortable shoe on my arthritic feet is worth GOLD.

I have very picky feet. While comfortable at first, I felt that they didn’t provide enough support and stability for my advanced needs. Also they are bulky looking.

I got this shoe today as I am looking for a comfy sneaker. I must say the cushioning in the shoe is excellent. It felt soft all around. I felt that the length was short, as my toe was hitting the front of the shoe and i always wear and 11.5 in Brooks. So if I were to keep it I would have to order up a 1/2 size. I didn't like the styling of the sneaker. It was very bulky and almost orthopedic in look. Very boxy. Unfortunately I will be sending these back.

The Ariel 18 is roomy in size. Nice wide toe box. Nice cushy insole. I only wish there were more color selections available. The look is a bit clunky, cut can't beat the comfort.

I love this color!! Exactly what I've been looking for but alas, why is it not offered in 2E width?
If you are an overpronator, eventually your foot is going to turn outward while wearing motion control support/stabilizing shoes and you will need an extra wide shoe so as not to pinch your little toe.
The wider toe box feel is an improvement (probably because of removal of overlays that were in the Ariel '16 design). Overall, the shoe feels slightly softer and more conforming.
Please, please, please Brooks, make this color available in 13 2E!! The light gray color is not nearly as flattering- too light and makes a person's foot look even bigger! I want the dark gray- not navy as in the '16.

I've been wearing Ariels for maybe 10 years. My favorite--for my feet--was the Ariel 16. Although the 16 ran short (I'm usually an 8, and I had to size up to an 8 1/2), when I finally got the right size, they were perfectly supportive.
The new Ariel 18 runs true to size (I can wear my regular 8). The support is very good (although not as good as the 16). I do not find them stiff, like some other reviewers, and I like the cushioning very much.
And like many other reviewers I'd love to see better colors! Bring back the old white/silver combinations, please!

I wore out 2 pairs of Ariel 14’s and ordered the 16 when it came out thinking it would be as good; it was not. I searched everywhere in the hopes of finding some old stock with leftover 14’s to no avail. Nothing else really worked so I walked less and rode more. I had even contacted Brooks to inquire where I might find some 14’s; they did write back to tell me the 18 was being released in May and it would be more like the 14. It is not. I found the 16 to be too long and the 18 is as well. Unlike others here, I think it is narrower than the 14 and 16. I’m using it because I find a tish better than the 16 but am going to order a 10.5 W and see if it fits better than the 11M I have (and usually wear). I think if this next pair isn’t 100% what I want I’m going to try something different altogether.

I am so much more happy with the 18 than I was w I thought the 16. I have a very large orthotic in the right shoe, I have order a wide whith. In the 16's i had to have a double E and an extra size. I was conservative in ordering the 18. I got my normal size. They fit perfect with my orthotic! They are a whole new design. They look much better than the old style. Did I say that they were comfortable? No break in time. Put them on, out of the box, and I have worn them everyday all day since then. Fabulous!

I got a pair of Brooks based on recommendations, and while they are great shoes, I can not wear these all day without foot pain/ foot fatigue. I am disappointed but because these shoes were expensive; I continue to wear them, even though I don't feel like my money is well spent on brooks. I have Ryka shoes that are older and more comfortable then these; and I can wear my Ryka's all day no pain/fatigue.. Very disappointed. I also got a sports bra at the same time, and feel let down because it was an expensive sports bra that is only 2 stars, the Victoria's Secret sports bra is far more effective and cost way less. Memory foam is always touted at excellent, but I don't really find memory foam all that great of a material, and believe it to be a hyped up material.

After trying out several pairs of walking sneakers from different companies, I was so excited that I had finally found a pair to suit my needs. In terms of addressing my overpronation needs these sneakers performed well. However, after one week or so of wearing them, they developed a hole in the heel collar of the shoe. Because the shoe was so comfortable I was tempted to keep them despite the product breakdown. But I quickly realized that the same issue occurred with the Ariel 20 that I had to also return for the fit and the material breakdown after a very short period of time. The shoe is too pricey to have the immediate breakdown in the material. Brooks got the structure of the shoe correct, just not the material. I have to send them back.

These are just OK in my opinion. I fail to feel any kind of cushioning but the support seems to be there. They are just not very comfortable. I prefer Addiction and will stick to them in the future.

I have two pairs of Brooks Ariel '16 and love them. I ordered these and was really disappointed. The is different but my biggest complaint is that the back on Achilles is much lower so every time I took a step, they slipped. I ended up sending them back and will have to wait for stores to open so that I can try on before buying.

My right shoe fits great but the left one hurts where my arch is suppose to be and doesn't fit properly. I used inserts from my other athletic shoe it is a thicker insole and left foot better. I had foot surgery on both feet so I thought I would purchase Ariel but honestly I love my old Adrenaline's. I am going to go back to Adrenaline's next year. I haven't been running but walking they aren't as comfortable for me like Adrenaline's and I have flat narrow feet but Adrenaline's feel better.

As the last pair, toe box is very wide. I have narrow feet so it's a bit of a problem, not to mention that it makes the shoes look even more clunky. But I have to wear these Brooks for the sturdy support otherwise so I have to keep them.

Ordered these in 9.5 EE and they were too wide in the heel and my toes were right up to the front. Also did not care for the grey color. I am sending back and ordering the Ghost 12 in 10D. I have had these in the past and prefer the look and style of the Ghost. The Ariel is chunky and heavier looking.

Had to return the first pair I ordered (8.5 D) because they stretched out after only a few days wear. These shoes have a very roomy toe so the second pair, in a smaller size is an improvement in the overall size. However, the new shoes feel stiff and rub in the heel area.

I am a nurse who is on her feet 8-16 hours a day. I have been buying Ariels for the last 4-5 years and I buy them approx every 6-8 months because I need to take good care of my feet. I always thought the Ariels were a little ugly, so I thought I would change it up by buying the Ghost, but they have little cushion so I use those for the gym. Most recently I tried the Addiction, using them for work they barley made the 6 month mark which is sad considering the price of your shoes. I went back to the Ariel this time, the color is better than it has been, I like the new upper part it is nice and soft and flexible, but am sad to say they are not as cushy as all the other Ariels I have had. The ball of the foot area lacks the cushion and give the older models had. Very sad to feel the decrease of quality.
