I've worn Brooks GTS for years, but this is the first time I have tried the Ariel. The have even more support and cushion. Perhaps a little less flexibility, but I love the extra support. Very happy!

This shoe offers good support for people who have had a foot injury. I sprained my foot early in the summer and my foot feels well supported and comfortable in it. Good for long distance walking as well.

I have worn brooks ariel 16 for the past two years and basically didn't like the grey color because I could only wear clothing that was complementary to the shoes and vice versa. I've read a lot of the reviews for the brooks ariel 18 and was certain that I was going to HATE these colors even more, so I didn't order either ariel color- my sister bought a pair of brooks ariel 18's at a local shoe store and I got to see these in action. Girls, the color isn't bad at all. It is considerably more neutral than the orlder versions of this shoe. I loved it so much that I bought both colors. Now, it's true that it doesn't go well with tans/khaki per se but it really is quite fine with blues, purples, even greens, blacks and of course greys. The fit is fantastic. The cushioning is FABULOUS and the support for my serverely pronating feet can't be beat. Please give this shoe a chance. I would rate it 5 star for shoe and 4 star for color selection.
p.s. I've worn brooks ariels since the beginning of time for this shoe. I'm an ariel veteran!
I'd also recommend:
pretty much just brooks because of the aid for severe over pronation.

I am 65 and have some pretty serious foot-joint injuries, but walk 5-10 training miles per day. Like many, I now need excellent support in the arch, sole, and heel, but light fabric across the top of my foot to accommodate joint issues. These shoes have also corrected some ankle roll over issues from walking on uneven surfaces. I purchased the WIDE and wear with medium weight, hiker smart wool socks. This is the best shoe I have had for hiking and walking in years. I am headed out on the Camino walk across Spain and these shoes have been through rough testing while I have trained. Highly recommended. I rarely take the time to leave product reviews.

Shoe was fairly supportive & light weight. Laces were easy to adjust & shoe appeared well made. I had to return them as I was looking for something more stylish & less manly looking.

I finally found a pair of shoes that works with my orthotics. My normal size in a Brooks shoe is a 9 wide but I had to go to a 9 1/2 medium to get a good fit lengthwise. The toe box is very roomy which was a requirement to deal with a Morton's neuroma. This shoe is comfortable right out of the box.

The Ariel 18 felt good right out of the box and that is for someone with multiple foot problems including neuropathy, arthritis, plantar fastitis, and a bunion. Unlike the Ariel 14 and 16 models which required me to wear an 11.5 wide, I am able to wear 11:5 medium, my usual size. There is ample toe room, flexibility with support, and good cushioning. There is arch support but it could be a little better even for my flat feet. But since I’m no longer using them to run this works for me; I do wear them from morning till bedtime and they are comfortable. I hope Brooks keeps this style and doesn’t change them again in 2years. This model has the good features I loved when I started wearing the Ariels years ago.

I look for a shoe that has great cushioning and support for my feet and ankles. This shoe delivers on both. I usually wear running shoes for my power walking but these are great! It took me months to find shoes that offered the cushioning I like with the support in both the ball of the foot and around the ankles and this one seems to be it for me. I have a wide foot and this shoe fits well without pinching but you will need to wear thin socks. I look forward to many miles in them. If you can swing the price, I highly recommend them!

The Ariel no longer corrects my severe overpronation on my bad foot. So sad returning these. The toe box is roomy and the cushioning felt amazing.

I bought this shoe in an 8.5 which is what I have always worn in Brooks Ariel (although I wear an 8 in other shoes/sneakers). I found that it was too large for me so I ordered an 8 and it's perfect. This is my go to reliable sneaker because I have tons of foot issues. Works for me!

The Ariel 18 is very comfortable and provides the support that I expect from Brooks shoes. These felt good the first time I put them on. I ordered my usual size and that fit, unlike the Ariel 16 which runs small.

I had been wearing Ariel '16 but my toes were crowded and part of the solid stripping came loose.
The Ariel '18 feels ultra comfortable and the design fixes the stripping weaknesses. The toe box is longer and wider and soooo comfortable. I thought I would need to go up a size, but the same size, in this new version, corrects all my complaints.I have planters fascitis and need a tight heel. This shoe fits all my needs.
Would love to see this with the teal color of the Ariel 16.

My favorite incarnation of the Brooks Ariel to date. The insert is much more padded than the ‘16s. Feel great. Amazing Zappos customer service helped make these shoes even better.

Love my Ariel's, but wish I got them in a bigger size that was not available at the time.

Loved (5 star) my Brooks Ariels - initially 'prescribed' by my doctor for plantar fasciitis over 20 years ago - until Ariel '16 then things changed - still very good - but the fit doesn't feel as supportive as the older models - I like the darker colors of Ariel '18 - had to buy a new pair because the cushioning material around the shoe opening unravels quickly - still a good supportive shoe for walking.

I would have given them a 5 start, but the inserts are falling apart after about 3 months. Kind of a bummer as these are my 5th pair of Brookes Ariel. Clearly my favorite.

While I absolutely love the fit comfort and feel of the shoe, I agree with other reviewers that the material wears out too quickly. I've had numerous pairs of the Ariel in the past 13 years and they all wear holes quickly. Brooks fix this please!! It's not right to spend do much for shoes that wear holes within 6 weeks.

Great fit but so wish you would carry more color options for those of us that don't have dainty, narrow feet. Time to recognize those of us that have Fred Flintstone feet. You know, as wide as they are long! Help us!

The heel needs to be more narrow because it doesn't grip as well as prior years. The wider toe box is great. The colors and aesthetic are not so great.

Let me start off by saying I love Brooks sneakers. These deserve a five star rating, but I found they are a little to roomy (wide D) in the toe area. I might of got away with a half size smaller. Love the look, style and it comes in a lighter grey. I also liked the Brooks addiction.

These were extremely comfortable out of the box and I have not been able to say that about many shoes since my foot surgery 5 years ago.

I love the fit and feel of my shoes, BUT after only a month the inside webbing near shoe laces already has worn out and there are holes on both shoes. (See photo) Not sure why this would happen or if this has been a common problem with this shoe. Other than that, I love the shoe. Comfortable from day one. No break in time. But disappointed in the holes on both shoes in one month!!!
