With the Beast 18, Brooks has finally succeeded I creating the almost perfect shoe for larger persons who need optimal stability and support in a well designed and very durable package. The roomy toe box is constructed of a much lighter and very well ventilated engineered mesh that provides exceptional comfort through even long hot days. While not a big fan of the original black and light grey/blue models, I love the new ebony grey/biking red version. John B.

I love these shoes! I fall in love with a Brooks shoe then the next year it is changed and I have to find another Brooks shoe. This is the third time I've had to do this but this time I ordered another pair of the Brooks Beast '18 because I totally love the feel of them. I need comfort, no tightness, no pain of any kind because of the shoe and I need a wide toe box. This shoe has it all!

I've been running for almost 35 years. I know what I want and need. Kinesiologists, magazines, and shoe companies are now convinced that nearly anyone can run comfortably and injury free with neutral or minimally supportive shoes. Nonsense. My Ravennas and Adrenalines were ruined by the anemic guiderail system. After sustaining injuries for the first time in over a decade, it was time to find a new stable trainer. Enter the Beast. Threw down a 12 miler right out of the box. My lingering aches and pains started to dissipate. Phenomenal support and cushioning! Nice and roomy toebox. The generous heel is plush. Heavier and stiffer than what I'm used to when transitioning to the forefoot. I don't mind that at all anymore. With all the good alignment they provide, I'm able to nail my paces easily. They fit my feet like a second pair of socks and I never think about these shoes as the miles fly by. No heel slippage whatsoever. These are the highest compliments I can give any shoe. 5 stars. Check these out if Brooks new guiderail system shoes are not cutting it for you.

My son has really high arches and wears anywhere from size 15 .5 to 17 depending on arch support. These shoes provided the arch support that the 16 fit perfectly. He also has a really wide foot and the 4E fit him perfect. I would say the 4E in this shoe is not as wide as others in 4E. Given his shoe size. anytime we see a size 16 in a shoe that looks good, we get them since his size is hard to find. He says these are the Cadillac of shoe for him since they feel the best of any he has had thus far.

I am 6 ft 200lb with flat feet and run 18 miles a week. I waited until I had 250 miles on this shoe to write a review. I was replacing the NB1340V3 because the model dramatically changed. In short, the Beast 18 is a solid motion control shoe. At first the thin, airy uppers threw me but they are really nice. The shoe is lighter, cooler and more responsive. I will order a few more pairs in case Brooks changes the model. Overall, very solid choice for MC shoe

Brooks Beast have been my "Go To" shoe for many years. When they changed to the '18 I bought one pair. The fit was perfect. No transition was needed from my Beast '16.
The fit was so comfortable, that I ordered a second pair just to be prepared with my next pair.
Interestingly, Zappos sent me an email that said "try them out for 30 days". I wore the new pair today and they were also perfect. So I will put this pair on the shelf for the next day.
I am not a runner. I am a walker and world traveler. These shoes always travel with me on my trips for long walks and sometimes the workout room at hotels.
An unsolicited Zappos comment from me: Wow! Thank you for easy ordering, quick shipping and fabulous return options!

I don't know what I would do without these shoes. I have crazy flat feet and these support better than putting pro orthodics into normal shoes. Saves my whole body, I wear them daily as well as to run.
Huge fan of the design upgrade to the '18 shoe in black--they actually look good with Jean's and sre somewhat stylish, in part bc they eliminated the white from the base. For the future please keep casual style in mind for your design, as I am forced to wear these every day haha. Would love to see some other earth and natural tone color options that are easy on the eyes like this black pair, like army green, dark brown, or maroon. Tbh I still hate the gray/blue color...looks geriatric with Jeans.

I've been wearing this model (Beast) for some 10-11 yrs. because of the excellent support it has for me... I usually buy them from a local retailer but after ten years of loyalty they let me down. So I tried buying them from Zappos and was amazed at how fast I received them. I did expect an online purchase to be considerably cheaper but that was not the case. The difference was literally only .05 cents cheaper than walking into a store. So I saved on not having to leave my home. These shoes are worth their weight in gold though so I'm extremely happy with my purchase. I only wish they were much more affordable... Hint Hint Zappos...

This shoe was ordered for my husband...he uses them for work. He ordered a 9 instead of a 9.5. I sent them back to Zappo and called to make sure I could order another pair right away. I was formerly wearing Asics Gel Nimbus, but the cushioning support dropped considerably in their 21 model, so I had to find a new shoe. I normally buy Merrel shows in size 10-1/2. Brooks requires an 11. Also had to purchase width EE instead of normal width.
Received the shoes yesterday. Been wearing them all day today. These are without question extremely comfortable: good support - excellent arch support for my flat feet.
My biggest critic, my spouse, said "wow, those are great looking shoes!" So there you go, I'm looking good.

I put these shoes on the first time and, WOW, did the feel great. The padding is phenomenal and give a good "ride" all day. I usually wear orthotics but do not feel the need for them with this shoe. There is no pinching anywhere and they feel great all day long. I wish there were more color combinations available but it is what it is. I am used to having Vibram soles on my shoe of previous choice (Merrill) but the Vibram is stiff but doesn't wear out. I trust the soles on the Beast will hold up as well, however, the comfort and flexibility will make up for the wear factor even if they wear down too much. After the major gulp when I saw the price and the soul searching I went through deciding if the Beast could be worth $160 I decided to give them a try and I am glad I did.

My son got these shoes a few years ago upon the recommendation of the orthopedic doctor and the orthotics specialist. He is an athletic high school kid with flat feet and these allow him to be mostly pain free and prevent knee and hip issues. They aren’t the most stylish shoe for a teen boy but he doesn’t care because he feels so much better in these!
