I have owned these boots for nearly a year. The Forces version has some slight differences, most notably the tread and the coloring. I finally reached the boot's limit while hunting elk in the Pioneer Mountains in Idaho. The mountains are steep and rocky, containing lots of loose shale, dirt and top soil. Traction was excellent on dry and damp surfaces. Wet rocks led to a few falls though. In the third week of the hunt, I started getting wet feet. I dont think they are leaking, but they are so wet on the outside they are no longer allowing any venting. The soles are starting to break down, but that's to be expected after a few hundred miles. All in all, I think I have a few months left before I buy another pair. I would say these boots outperform Danner boots, but aren't quite Kenetrek level. No blisters, very few hotspots from time to time. Somewhat noisy as well, squeaks and creaks.

I bought these because I needed something sturdy for carrying weight but light enough for quick hikes as well. The trail shoe/sneaker lightweights that seem popular just didn't give me the support I wanted. These boots feel as sturdy out of the box and give me as much support as my favorite military boots I wore for years but at more than half as light. The laces are very long and it is a bit tricky to lace in the dark though. Also they don't come in wide sizes so go a half size higher and they fit great. My rating is based on initial impressions from a couple of break in hikes. More to follow as time goes by.

I was worried as there were a few pressure points while breaking them in. But these were great for over 50km of hiking in Norway!! Incredibly comfortable and supportive!

Good solid fit, thanks for the replacement, I like the shoe and needed the arch support.

I love the boots the only issue was the color. They were described as being black but were actually green when I got them so I can't use them at work now.

The price scared me first, but after much research and sick and tired of buying boots that did not last, I pulled the trigger! From the first time I put them on I knew buying these boots was the right choice. I have had Irish setters, timberlands and others. No break in period. From hiking to standing on concrete there was no foot fatigue.

I wish these were available in wide width. Great boot otherwise.

I have been wearing these boots for a while now and they are an excellent boot. The fit is exceptional and comfortable. The boot is very well made. My only concern with this boot is they do squeak when worn. If not for the squeak, the boots would have gotten a 5/5. Not sure if it is only my boots that squeak or not though.

These boots are great from the moment you put them on and continue to get better as you break them in. I used them in multiple types of terrain and performed extremely well in all of them.

I bought the boots to climb volcanoes and they have an excellent grip on loose terrain. Recommended...

I am an office hiker (wear these every day at work). Overall, the boots are very supportive along the sides and very comfortable on the foot as compared to my older Merrell boots of which made my feet sore. They are great on stairways up and down and make me feel a bit more secure than wearing sneakers or the dreaded Sanuks. The support keeps my feet from rolling on uneven urban terrain that I experience and that is good for this old man. The large padded tongue will make the sides of your shins a bit tender for a few days, but after your body is used to the pressing in of the tongue, then its ok. If you are a confirmed wide shoe wearer, these seem to run true to D width so you could experience some discomfort.

I bought this for a sheep hunt I did in Alaska. It worked well for what I needed it for: Dependable, waterproof, stiff enough to edge but not too stiff that its uncomfortable to walk. Really, my only complaint is that they hurt my feet a little every time I walk in them. Its weird but it takes my feet some time to warm up in them, which has never happened to me before in any boot... I am a pretty experienced hiker so I was a little disappointed because I was hoping they were going to work out for me. I probably won't buy another pair after I wear these out.

I had been a long time Redwing boot wearer. When my boots finally needed replaced, they no longer made my style anymore and I hated all the new ones. I decided to give a hiking style boot a try. I have Salomon Speedcross and Amphib shoes, so I decided the Quest 4D 3 was the one I'd try. So glad I did! What a comfortable boot that is very well put together! Great traction, comfort, support, style, waterproofness. I definitely reccomend.

I actually got these as a replacement to some existing Quest 4D 2 boots. They are hands down the most comfortable and well made hiking style boots I've ever owned. They're lightweight, well waterproofed and I can wear them for long periods without any fatigue. The grip is good which has helped me avoid slipping on rocks etc. and the fact that they are backed with a solid warranty only adds peace of mind.
I gave mine an extra layer of waterproofing with some Nikwax wax on the leather portions of the boot as per the recommendations in the product info and this has only further improved the product.
Would recommend these to anyone looking for a great all rounder boot!

Good so far. Have less than 100 miles on them. Very comfortable and waterproof. Order one size bigger, fit small

The boot is comfortable. It does not need much break-in time. They do have a higher platform than I am used to, so on some uneven surfaces it is easy to lose your balance. Over all I look forward to having these boots a long time.

These were very comfortable out of the box, needing no break in. Initially they were quite waterproof but after a year or so of occasional use I found my socks were wet inside the boots around the toe area after walking through wet grass and the occasional shallow puddle. This is despite reproofing with the correct Nikwax product. Clearly the Goretex membrane has broken down or worn through in a relatively short time.

Bought these boots a few months ago, I've now walked about 100 miles in them and they are very tight around the calf area, ive tried multiplye techniques of tieing the laces and just can't get comfortable in them over long distance, they are ok for short walks of about 5 miles but nothing more, to be fair the fitment issue is probally more my leg shape than the product, but if you have larger calfs like me you may encounter the same issue, the back of the boot is just too high. On a positive note the boots are very well made and comfortable except the formentioned issue, they have also kept my feet dry and the grip is very good, im considering purchasing the shoe version as i like alot of the features the quest range offers, but I'm not convinced it's the right move yet, especially at the price point

I have worn these comfortable boots very regularly for six months. Hiking in a variety of terrains including forests, pastures, stony and paved ares. Unfortunately the soles have worn down significantly in the central area of tread and the rear area of the heels are virtually smooth. One boot heel has actually worn through (see picture). This degree of wear is not what one might expect from the product description: "For maximum traction on mixed terrain and extended durability, Contagrip TD combines a deep, aggressive lug pattern with our most durable compound."
I have stopped using these boots as they no longer provide safe, effective grip in winter conditions.

This felt big, clunky, and stiff. It's a very well made boot, and some will probably love it, but it wasn't for me.
