This is my first legit pair of hiking shoes, and I'm very pleased with them. In the past, I had always just worn sneakers, but wanted to upgrade to something more durable and waterproof.
I opted specifically for this style because it seem to be a nice hybrid between a trail running shoe and a hiking boot. It could more than effectively serve both purposes. It's a solid-built shoe, trustworthy, and attractive.
I would say it fits true to size. I stepped up by 1/2 size to accommodate hiking socks, and this was perfect.

This is me second pair of North Face hiking/active shoes. Their products are big on comfort and durability which is great - I still have the old ones just wanted a new style.

This is my third generation of these shoes. The previous version was excellent for 16 fourteeners and part of Camino de Santiago. They lasted for a very long time. Used them even hiking in mud, crossing creeks in the winter. My feet were always dry.

Nice shoes that felt good, only they were larger than most 9 1/2 walking shoes I've tried on recently.

Overall these seem like great shoes. They are comfortable right out of the box and they look good. My only worry is whether the string loops for the laces will hold up. I wish they were metal eyelets instead.

These are overall sturdy durable shoes, but the shoe lace loops wore out too quickly. Happily North Face replaced the shoes under warranty.

The loops that holds the shoe laces seems a bit fragile and I'm afraid it will get torn quickly. This wasn't the case with the 109 GTX which I had prior (and were awesome shoes!)

My go to winter running shoe in Minnesota and Wisconsin. My feet never get cold, I run up to -10. Great shoes, I also have the Ultra 109 which I have ran in for three winters and can still use as my backup. Seem to be very durable!

I’ve worn the 109 for several years and really like it. I needed a backup and just recently got the 110. From a fit and feel perspective, the 110 feels like the 109 which is exactly what I wanted. I hadn’t noticed the change in the lace loops until I started reading some of the reviews. Now, I’m a little concerned. So far I’ve only worn my 110s a few times, casually, and they’re fine but looking at them, I can see how they could break, depending the material. I wish North Face had stuck with the 109 loops. Otherwise, I expect the 110s to be fine substitutes/backups to the 109s.

I ordered a size 13 and should have gone down a size or possibly half a size. Great looking shoe and very comfortable considering it was too large. I would purchase again but the return/refund time is wayyy too slow!

After 7 months of moderate use, one of the eyelets gave out. I like the shoes so much that I ordered the replacement knowing that Zappos customer support has my back should they happen to fail again.

I prefer a wider shoe with arch support you can feel. I love the width of keens, but after trying the targhee II and a couple other styles, the quality just isnt there any more. They have a nice wide toe box, but the insole is flat and a little unforgiving. I found these after reading some field guide reviews. They are not as comfortable as my running shoes, but they are more comfortable than the various keen and merrill options I tried in store. As a trail runner I would probably pass on these (the comfort and flexibility is not quite there for that, although it may be over time), but as a hiking shoe I think they are great.

I bought my last pair in February 2018. I started noticing that their cushioning started deteriorating in July 2018 so I had to curtail my trail and off road hiking with these shoes. It's a shame because initially they were perfect. I'm a big guy (6'1/220) so I am thinking that these shoes are best for men who are lighter and not as tough on shoes I am. It rains a lot where I am which doesn't help the longevity of any shoe even if it is supposedly waterproof.

These boots (the earlier 109 GTX) served well on a 150-mile walk in England, including much rain. However, they lost their waterproofing at around 11 months. Northface replaced them for free. Unfortunately, the new pair had a seam come loose within 10 months -- have returned them to Northface for repair/replacement. I've ordered a new pair as well from Zappos (110 GTX) and am hopeful that I'll have better luck, since I find them an excellent waterproof shoe -- sturdy and comfortable. I hike maybe 100 miles a month, so I give boots a good workout. Still, in both cases, they should have performed better.

Had a good feel and didnt get any blisters on a 4000ft summit in NH. That's impressive considering the wet and rocky conditions on the 8 miles hike. Never a flat step all day. Every foot is different shaped so cant say you'll have the same luck tho.
