Haven't gotten to wear these but a couple of times. They were comfortable out of the box. Unlike their leather toe counterpart. I bought the leather toe but they were very uncomfortable. These feel like tennis shoes. Bought them to ride my Harley and walk in. Yet to see how long they will last. Heading to Sturgis in August we'll see how they do on a trip.

So let me start out by saying this is an extremely comfortable boot. If you've worn any Merrell hiking boots before, you know what I'm talking about. I gave it only a 3 in comfort because the wide version of this boot is super wide. I wear a 10.5 wide in the Moab ventilators, and after being reassured the sizing was the same, I got this boot in that size. Walking around, going up and down stairs, everything felt fine. After my first foot pursuit in these boots I felt like I was getting blisters so I ordered the regular 10.5s. They just arrived and they fit like a glove. So, please be forewarned that the wide is super wide and it would be worth trying the regulars as well, even if you know you wear wide in Merrill's.

Great shoe. One small problem. Description says “heel pull tab” (wrong), would be easier to put on if it had them.

After a couple of weeks of wear I'm pretty happy with these overall. They fit and feel similar to the standard Moab shoes I tend to wear off duty, which is nice. The waterproofing and construction have held up fine so far as well. At the end of my shift they are still comfortable and my feet aren't sopping wet, so they breathe well.
The only issue I have with these 8" boots is that they really need a bootstrap loop at the top of the boot to help with putting them on, as the shorter Merrell boots and shoes have. I'm assuming they figured that with the side zip it wasn't necessary, but I find that when it's laced properly it's still tight enough unzipped that it's an effort to get my foot in the boot. Basically, the gusset either needs to be wider to allow easier insertion, or the bootstrap needs to be added to give me a way to get some leverage.
Still, overall it has certainly impressed me so far

I've owned them for about 6 months. They are one of the most comfortable boots I've owned. I did have to put a better insole in them. The only other complaint I have is that I don't think they are going to last much longer, the fabric on the top of the toe box is starting to tear and separate. I hope Merrill reinforce the fabric

I bought these a while back, they're comfortable and hold up well on trails. But, they are not in any way waterproof. I just came back from a 2 mile walk in drizzle, stayed on pavement the whole time, no puddles or anything like that, and my feet are wet! I noticed another review mentioned the same issue.

Good boot until the waterproof rating went away. Got two years out of them before my feet got wet.

I bought a black pair back in 2020 they seem to be waterproof and wearing very well. So I bought a coyote pair in early 2023 and they seem to be wearing good. Today I got caught outside in a pouring down rain and my socks got very wet.

I bought these just under a year ago and they show wear at the toe bend. Both insides have small tears in the material which now lets in moisture and wet. They are a comfortable boot and quite warm.

I have had two pairs of these boots and I love them but they just don't hold up well.
The good:
Extremely comfortable
Look great
Waterproof (for a little while)
The bad:
Waterproofing seems to fade pretty quickly. My first pair seemed to stay waterproof for longer.
Durability just isn't there. My first pair lasted about 7-8 months before falling apart. My second pair lasted less than 6.

These boots are comfortable and offer good support and are nice and light but the quality is not that great. This is my 4th pair of these boots and I can tell you they only last a year. Luckily they are fairly cheap. The tread is the first to wear out so you will lose some traction but still comfortable to wear. Next to go will be rips and tears in the toe fabric followed by the sole separating from the boot. I keep buying these because I do like them but you just have to go in knowing you will only get a year out of them.

There is only one issue with this shoe . It is very hard to find a pair with the front top toe mesh not wrinkled already. If it's not one it's the other. I tried ordering 2 and then I gave up trying. If someone can help me solve this like a product specialist I would order them again. Great shoe but this fix is needed because it's so noticeable if the shoe has this defect. These lines happen eventually after being well worn but should not come new with cracks in the mesh part of the top toe. Of solved I would order again. My black ones are Perfect.

I have had these boots for 3 years and love them. They do run a 1/2 size small. The laces are too short to tie securely and will need to retie them often. Also, the cushion in the bottom will need to be replaced with Dr. Scholls inserts every year for comfort. Other than these issues I will be buying another pair and would give 5 stars if it weren't for the issues mentioned.

These are great boots. I don't care for the medial zipper though. To me they are worthless. I still have to loosen laces to put on and take off. I would prefer speed lacing to the zipper.

These are comfortable and are great for Law Officers, EMS, and Fire Service. I currently work in the Fire Service and IMHO they weren't right for me. I don't care for the zipper. I find them to be slow to remove and a slight bit tough to get on. However if you don't mind the boots with zippers and they work for you. These are must have, super comfortable and feels like a tennis shoe. I would have no problem wearing these all day on shift.

These are awesome looking boots and apparently rugged based on some of the military uses. I like the boots more than any other tactical boots but I have fitment issues. The size seems to be correct but I get pressure (not rubbing) on the back of the heel. Getting pressure from the formed material on the vertical part of heel which I have got from any other boots. I wear them a few hours a day trying to get them broke in. The other tactical boots I have been wearing for several years, all 6-8 pair were broken in within a day of wearing them. I hope I can get these Merrells to wear good, the boots are awesome.

Have put over twenty miles on these boots in the month or two I have owned. Overall a good boot for the money. They are water proof so far. Could use more cushion in heal area and really need a pull loop. These two issues did effect the rating.

This boot was too tall for my personal liking so I did return it, but it seems like a very sturdy and comfortable boot

Active Cnd military for the past 20 years. Boots are very comfortable, side zipper is a great feature but claiming they are waterproof is a false claim/representation of the product.

They're nice boots, but the lateral arm on the outside rubs the side of my foot raw. I was hoping that would go away as they broke in, but it stays the same. It only occurs on the right boot. I'm not sure if its a manufacturing defect or what, but it makes them painful to wear. I'm not sure that I'll continue wearing them because of the discomfort. I don't think they can be returned or exchanged now, or I would. I would like to know if it's defective though since it only happens on the right boot. Hopefully Merrell will reach out and offer some insight. As it stands, I can't recommend these boots, which is a shame.
