I.own 1 pair of these and two pair of the Moab.2.8 tactical response, both are very comfortable and durable, only complaint I have with this pair are they aren't water proof as they are advertised to be , so on rainy days I wear my Moab 2.8 tactical.
I still highly recommend these boots however I hope Merrel corrects the advertised water proof issue.

Merrell is absolutely fantastic, I would however recommend trying the boot and in-store purchase and buying it online.
Reason?
I got a 44.5 size pair of MOAB 2 Tactical shoe and a size 45 Agility Peaks (at the same time through the same reseller).
The MOAB`s were little small so I gave them away while size 45 Agilities are just about the most comfortable shoe I have had! These have somewhat soft sole so I decided to get two pairs of MOAB 2.8 (one brown and one black) size 45 - confident that it is size 45 that I have, right?
Now, the fun part is that what came in is US size 11, and so UK/GB size 10.5.
What that means is that these should be smaller as the size of my great Agilities is 45, or 11, in UK sizes, and the US ones are about a half-a-size smaller, right?
Irrespectively, BOTH of my 2.8 MOAB's are a little to big. How is that possible I dont know, but what that means that there is at least 1.5 size variation between generation/size/line (I don`t know) difference.
Still, Merrell, once got right, are the best shoe/boot out there IMO - just get your size right.

I took a 6-8 year break from Merrell shoes due to sudden loss of comfort and durability from boots being made in my specific size of 14/14W. I felt I was taking a gamble by ordering these-after three weeks these are the "old" quality and comfort I came to rely on! At work (EMS) we are issued boots for free that are twice as much with horrid comfort and quality issues. I purchased these myself due to severe foot/lower back pain and so far these boots are exceeding expectations on all day comfort! Time will tell on durability.

These boots are the best I have ever worn and I have been in the military/law enforcement 40+ years. I have planters fasciitis really bad. I was having an injection of cortizone every month until I got these boots. I have not had a injection now in five months.
The only drawback is no pull tab on this model of boot. Being old, it is difficult to get the boots on when wearing thicker socks. If you put a pull tab on the back to aid in getting them on they would be a 5 star plus!!!

I recently broke my ankle and I needed some boots that would allow me to wear them loosely and still give me the support I needed which these were the exact fit for that! I absolutely love these boots however I am a little frustrated with the fact that I am getting wet feet in them here I have sprayed them again with some waterproofing. The boots are awesome other than that.

I bought these boots because they were recommended to me by a coworker. They are very comfortable and almost break in immediately. My other boots I wear usually last me about 11 months at most wearing them 55 hours a week. I had the Moab 2 for 7 months and they started to come unglued. I will say the warranty department is really fast at handling your claim. I sent the form in on Saturday and by Sunday, I had a pair ordered to replace my boots. Excellent customer service. I hope the new pair will hold up better.

Great boot, good quality. Easy to take on and off fast which works great as a first responder. It can be a little slick on some surfaces.

This not my first pair of Merrell and won't be the last. As the my first pair wore in they became my "go to" boots. The insole can be better (as I bought my own new insoles) but not a deal breaker. They boots are light. The boots are comfortable once broken in. The boot seems well constructed as there have been no issues with my older pair of 2 years or my new pair of 2 weeks.

Boots are a little wide and for me with a high instep I had to add insoles which made them very comfortable and practical.

Just purchased these for work (LE). I have not worn them on duty yet as they are a half size too big. I wear a size 8 in women shoes and have narrow feet. I purchased the boots based on the size chart (size 6.5). I will be returning and getting a half size smaller (size 6). These are universal boots. I hope in the future they produce tactical boots specifically for women. But overall, comfortable and light.

These are great boots. Very comfortable, almost no break in, and comfortable like an athletic shoe.
I have two complaints; one major, one minor.
The minor: provide longer laces.
The major: The pleat inside the side zip is small enough that it creates a pressure point where it folds. It it were slightly larger, it would lay more flat and be more comfortable. This is a major flaw.

Theses boots were very comfortable out of the box but they are not waterproof at all. Walking through wet grass (from morning dew) and my feet were soaked. These boots also get very hot, haven't worn them during the summer yet though.

These are the most comfortable boots right off the shelf. Zip them up, tie them slightly snug, and you're in zipper heaven. Love the ease of on off, and cant say in words how comfortable these boots are. The only down fall is they are not 100% waterproof. Atleast my pair isn't. This is somewhat of a down fall for me do to the amount of wet I'm in. I guess a when needed application of waterproofing might help, but disappointed they didnt keep me dry from the get go. BUT for the lack of sciatic nerve pain I'm NOT FEELING these are FOOTASTIC!!!!!!

I have been wearing these boots for about 6 months now, and the comfort level has been excellent from day 1. I walk approximately 8-12 miles a day for work and these provide all day comfort and support. My only complaint is that the leather on the edge of the toe box is beginning to rip, but with more than 1000 miles on them it is somewhat understandable.

I love Merrell products and have owned 5 pairs of boots in the past 10 years. I still have every pair I've owned and wear them all still.
I bought the Moab 2 Tactical zip side boot expecting the same great quality and fit as always and I was not disappointed. The boots are as solid and sturdy as I expected. I haven't had them in water yet to see if they are as advertised.
They are comfortable except for two things.
1. The zipper doesn't really spread very far and it is very tight getting my foot in and out of it but it's manageable with thin socks on.
2. There is a crease in the little toe area on both boots that rub on my toes and cause a wear spot and will cause a blister if I go on a hike or try to work in them. I'm hoping this will go away but after being in them for a few hours, I'm not completely convinced.
Overall, the boots are great as always, but I think this is an anomaly as I've never had an issue before. I bought these online without trying them on because this model wasn't available in my local stores. I would still recommend Merrell footwear however. Anomolies happen occasionally.

They're good boots but not very waterproof but the comfort is unbeatable. More like water resistant only bad part about the boots. Purchased in September 2019

The Good: fit is great!! I normally wear a size 11 in Nike's and basically all other running shoes. I was a bit apprehensive to buy the 11 since my combat boots are normally a little smaller (size 10.5). These boots fit more like a tennis shoe which is probably why they are a such a joy to walk in. I even bought the water proof version and my feet stayed dry in the rain. Shipping was super fast, even overseas.
The Bad: A previous reviewer mentioned the boot not having a pull tab in the rear to assist with putting on the boot. It's nice to have, but it doesn't bother me. When the zipper is pulled down it's still easy to get on. I kinda like it without the pull tab (looks more tacticool). My biggest gripe with the boot... the toe box feels huge!!! I don't know if it was meant to fit a thicker sock during the winter months but man, my toes have so much room it feels strange.
In summary, this is my first pair of Merrell boots. I love the look of them and get complements all the time. The enlarged toe box isn't a total downer. I still love the fit. I just wish it was slightly smaller. 4/5 stars for the toe box.

This is a great boot, but the velcro tab does not cover the side zipper well enough to serve any purpose. After reading other reviews that the sizing is true to size, i purchase the boot in my size. Personally, I found that the boot fits a little bit loosely for a tactical boot and feel my feet moving around in the boot while running and scaling walls. My next pair will be a half size smaller. Despite that, the boot is very comfortable and no break-in time is required.

I have worn MERRELL shoes for some time now, but this is the first time I have ordered them in boots. I work 24 hour shifts, and I am constantly on my feet. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is because they are sized about a complete size too large. Without a doubt I will order again! "Just one size smaller than normal"

Fit was very good. Insole is not so good. Working 9.5 hour shifts and the factory insoles do not do the job. Will keep the boots, but the insoles have to go. Have a pair of high techs that don't fit and go on as easy, but have way better insoles.

If you've worn the sneakers, the boots are just as comfortable around and under the foot. I like 8" boots so they're perfect for me.
Waterproofing is adequate. I get my boots wet often, factory waterproofing held for a solid 2 weeks before I felt the need to hit it with a silicone spray. After 4-6 coats total of silicone spray, these boots stay very dry - I suggest doing a few coats right out of the box (I will next time)
The durability is a bit questionable though as I have some toe cap seperation and seperation between the side rubber and upper materials after only a month of use. The sole seems to wear down rather quickly too.
Outstandingly comfortable. I easily put in 12 hours a day with these, no problem. I wear wool socks and can rock these in 80+ F
I'm buying a second pair. Hopefully the durability issue is just a fluke with that one pair. I had similar issues with my first Moab sneakers, but 4 pairs since and they've lasted 6-12 months each of heavy abuse.
Buy these boots if you love the sneakers and are considering them!
One improvement I would make is to replace the closed eyelets up top with the quick lace open hooks.
The zipper doesn't rattle if you leave it pointing upward and do the velcro on top (for all you sneaky guys) It also won't stab you in the ankle.
The colors are a bit hard to determine online, but the brindle is a really nice greyish tan - far from coyote. It's a good looking boot.
