Customer Reviews New Balance 840v2

I really liked the look, color tone etc. of this New Balance. However, I usually order a W but this particular shoe was overly roomy. I wear a particular Hue brand sock and with this shoe I would have needed to change into a thicker sock. I am exchanging the W for a Med and hope that they are back in stock soon.

I was hoping these would be good walking shoes for me but I tried two different sizes, the 6.5D was too short, the 7B was too long but the width was good. I ended up with a columbia hiking shoe instead

I have not yet decided if I want to keep these. I wear a size 9 regular but bought these in a 9 ½ Wide as I want to be able to wear decent socks with them. They seem to fit although I have not yet walked around the house in them with socks in them. I have very bad knees and have trouble bending my knee to put athletic shoes on and yet I needed something comfortable for walking. They look a little bulky but that doesn’t bother me. I was surprised that the footbed felt hard and that will be my deciding factor on whether to keep them. I need to get hubby to help me get them on and tie them properly and walk around the house a bit before deciding. I do have a pair of Orthofeet but they have an almost too high of arch and my feet hurt after wearing them for awhile. Hoping these feel better with socks then when I quickly slipped them on.

The toe box area was high and wide. The medium width was able to accommodate my c width foot.

I have wide feet so I have a difficult time finding shoes In most stores. I have wore New Balance for several years and my feet feel so much better when I wear this brand. This is the first time I have purchased this particular style. They are an attractive shoe and go well with my khaki colored pants as well as blue jeans. I would like a tiny more arch support but I have silly feet so...........over all I am very pleased with these shoes.

True to size and width. I needed more arch support. So I sent them back.

These are comfortable with a wide toe box. I really wanted to like them, but the heel slips (even when laced & tied with runners tie). There is not enough arch support. I disagree with folks who describe them as unattractive.

I liked the look of the gray 840 for walking shoes. I'm returning them because they don't work for me though. I haven't bought a good pair of walking shoes for a while, and I am having a really hard time finding some. The 840 is made on the SL-2 Last, which matches my foot as far as wide forefoot, narrow heel and high instep. I think these would have worked for my Morton's Neuroma and plantar fasciitis too. Unfortunately, they were only comfortable on my left foot, which has a "low normal" arch. On my right foot, which has a LOWER arch, the shoe just made my foot ache. I've tried on several styles of the SL-2 and they all hurt my right foot. They feel comfortable initially, although I can feel the arch, and after wearing them around the house for just a bit they make my foot ache. I kept the shoes for a week thinking I'd let my foot rest up since I'd been trying on a lot of shoes, but my foot is fine -- it's the arch in the shoe that just doesn't work with my very low arch foot. I have tried several of the "better brands" and they all hurt my right foot. So sad. I like the New Balance shoes and can't wear them.

The toe box on these are narrower than my other New Balance WW813 and caused me to have blisters. I was disappointed as I had thought they would work, but after wearing them daily for a 2 weeks I realized the discomfort was due to a seam near my little toe that rubbed because the toe area was slightly narrower. Otherwise, they fit perfectly and I have a high arch, and wear custom orthodics and wanted a sturdy, well supported walking shoe and these fit the bill. Sadly, they are now relegated to the back of the closet to be used infrequently, such as for yard work. I'm going back to purchasing the NB WW813.

Size 8 fits fine. Biggest plus -- meets with foot surgeon's approval for appropriate shoe to wear once the surgical boot comes off. And they are much more attractive than most heavy-soled sneakers. I'm happy and will probably buy again, perhaps in another color.

Could be more cushioney.

I’ve been looking for awhile for comfy, supportive but not too stiff sneakers. These are wonderful except for the inner sole. I had a pair of 840’s a couple of years ago and they had more cushion. Otherwise excellent product. ZAPPOS IS AN EXCELLENT SOURCE FOR SHOES! SUPERB CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I have numerous foot problems and have many sneakers! WW can sometimes be a little uncomfortable and after a few hours I have to take them off. I bought these sneakers on Nov.21. I wore them around the house for fear they wouldn't be comfortable. What a surprise the WW and rounded toe was so comfortable. I took a chance and wore them out the next day and was pleasantly surprise at how comfortable they were all day! I am about to order another pair.
