I originally ordered in size 7EE, my usual size, these are way too large, both width and length. So I returned and ordered them in size 6.5EE, again, way too long and wide, so I'm returning them. Manufacturer must be sizing these wrong.

I have flat pronated high instep feet plus arthritis. It's very hard to find shoes. I need the extra wide and a wide toe box. I so wanted to love these shoes because the men's style has the comfortable wide toe box but doesn't have this color. Unfortunately I have to return them and stick with the men's style. I was fine for short walks in these shoes but walking any distance causes my big toe to hurt because they are just slightly not wide enough.

The overall shoe is ok but it is hard to get on and off without reworking the laces. Also the tongue of this shoe is short. The tongue does not stay put during walking. It migrates usually toward the outside of the shoe and creates discomfort in the ankle due to rubbing on the front of the foot. I have never had this issue with a shoe before and I have owned many New Balance shoes with good success.

I tried these shoes in several sizes. I have bunions and cellulitis of my second toe so admittedly I have foot problems. I usually wear a 7.5 wide or extra wide in running shoes. In these shoes the 7.5 extra wide was too short and narrow across my bunions. The 8 wide was also too long and too narrow. The 8 extra wide was too long in length but did fit in width. It’s frustrating that none of them fit comfortably. The darker gray looks cheaply made and there isn’t very much cushion. This shoe does accommodate custom orthotics. I also tried the Brooks Adrenaline in 7.5 extra wide and it fit well being much roomier in the toe box. New Balance used to be the most comfortable brand for my difficult feet. However, the past few years they seem to be making their shoes more narrow in the front of the shoe and with less cushion. The quality in construction and materials seems to be sliding downward as well while the price is increasing. Very disappointing. I think I tried every New Balance style available in wide and extra wide and none of them worked.

The size was right, however, I bought the regular width and they were too wide. I have orthotics and the toe slid side to side because the they were to wide. I love the color, style and comfort. Unfortunately, I had to return these due to the width. I think the narrow will work. I have never had to buy a narrow shoe. These run wider than usual.

My feet are wide and my left foot has insertional achilles tendon issues plus a bunion. I tried the NB 7.5 D but it was quite tight across my feet, especially my bunion. The heel was narrow and tight to the point of pain when I walked. I tried the EE double wide as well which was sufficiently wide, but not generous, with the same narrow, tight heel. The Brooks 11 7.5 D fit perfectly. I will stick with Brooks from now on.

I got these shoes for Christmas and they are thee most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had! The only thing is, I wear a size 10, but these were too small. Got a 10.5, still too small. Had to go to an 11, so they run small.

The fit and the size felt true to size but the toe box was too large for me. These are cute if the toe box wasn't so large.

I have extremely wide, thick feet with bunions. These shoes fit them perfectly because for once there is actually a bigger toe box. The only thing I'm not in love with is the white soles, but they feel so good I don't care. I'm the absolute hardest person to fit, and not wearing shoes for almost 18 months since I've been working at home, all shoes hurt. But not these.

These sneakers were very comfy but not the right fit I found them to run a bit small on length and width! I normally wear a 8 in new balance and I wasn’t crazy about the color. I will try a different color and half size up next time!

Had to get sneakers as per Dr. he recommended Hoka brand. So I went with it. I am on my feet for my entire shift at work. I ordered two pairs of Hoka, but they wasn’t for me. So I did some research and found these. They had average reviews but I went with it anyways. Every pair of feet is unique. So u have to try and feel what’s best. I got these and as soon as I put it on it fit like a glove. Perfect!. Well for me that is. The arch is moderate which I need and the heel sits nicely as well, as I need that also. I have flat feet and heel pain. So this seems to be good for now. I only wore inside the house since I have to wear sneakers all the time. Have not gotten a pair as yet for outside. I will get the same for outside use. Thanks to Zappos I was able to return previous sneakers… oh btw it said two days for delivery, I got it the next day.. I was so surprised lol.. thanks Zappos!!

Can’t go wrong with the 840. Never disappoints. I wear 9.5 W and have bunions. These are always comfortable and fit perfectly.

New Balance 840v4: These shoes are very comfortable, come in X-wide width, and have tons of arch support. They only got 4 stars for style due to the white on the bottom. I wish it was a different shade of blue; guess I'll have to get them dirty. The heel on these shoes are made to look uneven which makes them look different. Tried to buy black shoes, but it's hard to find black shoes with color (white, grey, hot pink, etc) These shoes in the "black" color are actually like a grey. I don't like the look of the plain black shoes as they look like shoes for elderly women; nothing against elderly women. I'll be there soon enough. LOL I just switched from Asics. I hadn't worn NB for at least 8-10 years. My favorite Asics don't come in X-wide; in the eight years I've worn Asics, the quality has totally taken a nose-dive while the price has increased. That's why I switched back. These shoes are expensive, but the quality is very good, so worth the bucks. Anyone who has wide and high-arched feet will love these. They're for running; I use them for walking, running errands, as outdoor shoes, etc. I have another pair for "indoor" shoes.

I have been wearing New Balance for many years. Actually recommended by my podiatrist. I have severe bunions, hammer toe and have had one toe amputated due to hammertoe. This is my 3rd pair of the 840v4, and I decided to order a size wide this time instead of medium. I am so pleased with the wider width, as it accommodated my bunions better.

I kept spending money on cheaper New Balance...with my bad feet I never could wear them without pain. Several years ago THE SHOE SHACK store here in Dubuque fitted me with these . PERFECT!! But we are quarantined here in our Motherhouse & not able to go shopping I ordered on line (having those others in my closet unworn practically) and finally found comfort at last again (4 foot surgeries)..so thank you ...customer service person was excellent)

Love these shoes! Wide toe box and super comfortable. This is a great shoe!

This is my 3rd (or 4th?) pair of 840s. Very comfy.
