This shoe was sooo comfortable and I wanted it to work but unfortuantely the heel was too wide.

Love the look of this show. Dark grey with stylish blue greenv N looks great for fall.

I suffer from neuroma, and these are the only athletic shoes that work! I replace the inserts with my orthotics and I'm good to go. I try other shoes every so often, but always come back to the 840s.

My feet are very wide with high arches and these shoes fit great! It's very hard to find running shoes that fit.

Great shoe! Hard to find 2E shoes that fit me well, toe box was large enough and I was able to work out in them 10 minutes after taking them out of the box!

Great arch support and stability. When the soles of these shoes break down, the stability features of the shoe cause me pain quickly, so I know to replace them. Wish the color choices were better (why every line needs a shoe with pink I don't understand).

I have a narrow heel, wide forefooot, bunions, and a medium arch. My left foot pronates slightly. These are the best shoes I have found in an exhausting and exhaustive search - and my problem 'left foot' which is never comfortable is in heaven. The heels don't slip and did not require special lacing. Only problem is that the tongue on both shoes migrates to the outside of each shoe no matter how I tie them. The left foot is not bothersome, but on the right side the tongue is cut differently (larger?) and it then sits right over the high bone that runs from the ankle to over top the arch of the foot pressing down on it even when tied loosely and it has actually bruised that foot. Also, the right foot (my smaller one) is cut differently - a little shorter than the left and makes the right foot which has no pronation roll inward slightly. I am in love with the left foot so will order another pair and hope to get a good right shoe, but if I don't I won't be able to keep this style. A shame, if quality control and the tongue was better this would be an awesome shoe. The style is not great but not offensive, just boring and unobtrusive. The grey is very pretty in person but the blue makes it more orthopedic and 'older' looking.

I just had several bones fused in my right foot due to a Lis Franc fracture so it has been rather difficult to find shoes that are comfortable, supportive, and affordable. After trying several brands, my podiatrist and physical therapist recommended New Balance. I've been using the 840V4s for a month and so far I am really pleased with my purchase. Only a few comments worth mentioning - I've noticed with New Balance in particular that I have to go up a half size. I have a wide forefoot, narrow heel, and very high arch. I ordered in a wide and found the width to be perfect in both the forefoot AND heel. Arch support is good and the inner lining is removable so you can insert your own orthotics if needed. The only negative comment I can make is that the heel collar is really thick so it easily folds in as you are putting the shoe on. I use a shoe horn to help keep it upright, but the added cushioning does add pressure to the back of the heel which may bother some. I get several compliments on the design. Overall, I highly recommend and will purchase again.

Love the big toe box, I have wide feet and these are great . I also have really high arches ,so I would prefer a bit more arch support but I can always put in a good insole. Took them on a 4 mile walk with no problems. I love the 30 day run guarantee! Cute shoes and love the wide fit!

Cute looking shoe, but runs big. I'm usually a size 6 but had to size down to a 5.5, which still feels roomy.

It was too tapered in the toe and too wide in the heel for me, as many shoes are. I also need more support than it provided.

I do like these shoes. I was a little put off that they did not arrive in an actual New Balance box. They were also laced in a crazy way. These were clearly a return which is fine, but after paying this much I expect them to be lased correctly and to be be in the original box.

Was sooo pleased to find a good running shoe wide enough for my feet. These felt great the minute I put them on. A new first for me! Also I really appreciate being able to "test drive" them for 30 days in the real world. Walking around the house just doesn't cut it for me.

I have multiple foot issues so I’m not able to evaluate these shoes properly. I tried them on very briefly. I usually wear 7 1/2 wide in athletic shoes. New Balance and many good brands seem to be making shoes shorter and less wide. So I tried these in extra wide. They fit with room to spare. 7 1/2 was the correct length. The width felt perfect. Not sloppy, and a perfect heel fit in spite of the width. I could see that lacing them on the tighter side would be easy if they started to feel to wide. Also, materials were quality and the shoes look great. I got thunder Pisces. HOWEVER my foot issues were instantly worse. The shoes lack cushion. The materials were irritating to me. I didn’t feel I would be able to even break the shoes in. My go to shoes are Brooks Ghost 10, not so much the 11. And I’m currently in the hoka bondi 6. Almost wide enough in the 7 1/2. I like these shoes. They look good, they're comfortable. But they are slighter too short. I have the 940 New Balance with an orthotic. It fits right in without a problem. The orthotic is a struggle to get into the 840. It's just slightly shorter than the other sneaker. So it's going back.

I have high arches, bunions and arthritis in my feet so need a shoe with a wide toe box and overall support as well as cushion. This shoe was just okay on cushioning and lacked enough arch support for my higher instep. The toe box is wide which is wonderful for ladies with bunions or a wider foot. I purchased the cyclone/poison berry which doesn’t look bad in person. This shoe doesn’t make your feet look huge and actually looks smaller on my foot than it does in the shoe box. I would recommend this shoe if you have bunions or wide feet but not much of an arch.

Warning: they have changed the footbed on these 840v4. I have been buying New Balance 840 for years. I have bought v1 through v4. This new v4 does NOT fit my orthotics. All the other ones fit great. This new version has a different footbed and makes a big lump under the orthotics. If you are using these shoes because you use orthotics, be careful about v4.

I love the look of this shoe, but it was too tight in the toe box. I'd highly recommend it for metatarsalgia because the area under the toes and ball of the foot is firm, not super-flexible. I'm disappointed it didn't work for me.

They were fine at first but later squeezed my feet.
