I have a low volume foot, including low instep, and wear a 10 or 41 in everyday shoes. My foot is the "Egyptian" shape, meaning they taper down gradually, with no Morton's toe—basically, they are the exact shape of a Birkenstock shoe. :) I size up to an 11 for running, in every brand. I'm also a casual runner, every other day, no more than a few miles. My previous running shoes were a pair of New Balance Fresh Foam Zantes in regular width. After years of "why is there so much extra fabric and bunching at the toe and a slipping heel?" I finally wised up and tried narrow-width running shoes. I tested five pairs of Saucony and New Balance shoes, both regular and narrow width, and these narrow-width NBs won out. I cannot believe the difference. Perfect width, everything fits right wear it should, they aren't too heavy, and the toe box is more square or rounded than pointy. I'm looking forward to how they perform over time, but for now the fit is amazing, which is a brand new experience for me.

Solid work shoe

I have this very model in another color, but this one is too short. I am always a 9.5 Narrow in New Balance; I’m not sure why this one is too short.

These fit true to size. It’s hard to find an 11.5 narrow with a substantial arch support, but these hit the mark! They are very comfortable and supportive for walking.

These are comfortable sports shoes

This is my 2nd pair of 840 v4s. It’s a good quality walking shoe with adequate support. The availability of Narrow sizes has made New Balance my go-to choice for tennis shoes.

So glad I could find shoes that come in narrow! I wish NB would make more of their other shoes in narrow. Would love more choices in colors! These definitely fit true to size.

I like these shoes, I am having problem with the tongues, they seem shorter than my other NB shoes so when I walk, after a while they shift toward the outside leaving that tendon across the top of my foot hitting the shoe not the cushion of the tongue. Returned and got another pair of the same shoe and it is mildly better with the new ones. Could be just me, but doesn’t happen with my other NB shoes. which I love. Walking only not running.

First time ordering narrow shoes and they feel great. I gave it four stars just because I prefer a cushier running shoe but I definitely like them.

Not as cushiony underfoot as my Hokas, but ordering the Wide width, finally I have almost enough room across the toes. Soooo hard to find women's shoes that don't kill my toes. Soooo idiotic shoes aren't designed to fit feet, which are naturally wedge shaped, not pointed!! These seem designed for pronators, of which I am one, though there's not enough arch support for me to tell a difference.

I like these the best but I think I need larger size

Very comfortable! I just wish this sneaker came in prettier colors!

I first ordered my original size and it was a bit smaller and tight had to reorder the next size up and now perfect fit. Example I wear 8.5 needed a 9 the return was so easy

These shoes fit OK but just were not comfortable on my feet.

The shoes fit well except the toe box, too narrow.

Forcthe money they are not the greatest.

This shoe felt shorter in the toe box, than other New Balance, that I have. I would go a half size longer in this particular shoe. The 940 felt perfect, in the exact same size as this 840.

The only problem with this particular pair was some imperfection inside the left shoe, toward the back on the left side. It felt like a lump or a seam. I've had this exact same style and size of sneakers before, and never had that problem. So I ordered another pair. The new pair felt fine, so I am returning the pair that felt like there was a lump in the left shoe.

I ordered the black and white but received navy and white. It's not an issue because the 9 1/2 won't work anyway. I am really a 10 in an athletic shoe but thought the 9 1/2 might work based on a recent pair of shoes made by Saucony (which I had to return) but the 9 1/2 in this shoe is a bit too small. I need a 10, which I placed an order for and should receive next week. This shoe has an excellent sole but the top inside seems to be lacking soft materials for comfort. It seems a bit cheap but I'm desperate to find an athletic shoe that has wide toe and narrow heel like this one with an excellent sole and and a heel that offers the perfect balance of cushion and rigidity for my plantar fassciatis issues. I also ordered a pair of New Balance Shoes similar to this one but is diabetic friendly so that one may be better, not sure. Like 33.3 % of the female population, I have a foot a little like a duck. I have a wide toe box and narrow heel but there's not a lot to choose from for women like us.

Sharp looking shoe but the material was all bunchy/wrinkled on the top of the shoe. Felt comfortable but just didn't like the way they looked on my foot.

Size was accurate but width is narrow.

Although I'd prefer they be a tad wider, they are very comfortable, . They go great with jeans. The shoelaces stay tied and have stretch to them making it easier to put them on without untying them. I have this style in two colors,

Women’s Size 11/wide. The New Balance 840v4 Running shoes overall are good quality, comfortable, and attractive. I use them for walking rather than running. My previous shoes were Brooks and ASICS. The major difference from those shoes is the wider/larger New Balance toe box. During and after a walk, my toes don’t feel cramped and my socks don’t slide. The ample space also allows me to wear my arch supports comfortably. My only complaint is the tongue could be slightly longer for grabbing. But I liked them well enough to purchase a second pair.
