I really wanted to like these shoes. I liked the color, the style, and they felt very cushiony. However, look at the black layer on the outside of the sole, where it says Abzorb. It curves upward toward the middle of the shoe. Unfortunately, where it curves upward I could feel something pushing against the outside of my foot. Perhaps it’s supposed to prevent over-supination, but I only felt it on the left shoe, and it was annoying.

I usually run with the 880s and have bought many pairs over the last few years. You were out of my size, so your sales person suggested I try these as they are supposed to be similar in style. Don't like them; the mid cushion feels too big and spongy, and they just aren't as comfortable. Will need to try again when the 880s are back in stock in my size, which is admittedly unusual (10.5 4E)

I am a huge fan of the NB 840v2 and 840v3.
I purchased the 840v4 and do not like them.
They have this annoying thing where the Tongue goes below the lace line.
It is almost as if the tongue is not long enough.

I need orthotics and like my shoes wide. I wear a 9 4E but that has become increasingly hit and miss with New Balance. These shoes looked great on the website and were fairly priced but they were HUGE. When I tried them on it looked like I was wearing clown shoes!
I'd also recommend:

I bought these for my husband. He wore them for 2 months to walk in. There are now 2 holes on the top of the shoes. He usually wears ASICS but wanted to try New Balance. He said asics are a much better shoe. We won’t be buying New Balance running shoes.

These shoes are the size I order all the time; however, the tongue on the shoe was manufactured about 1/4" smaller in length than in my previous shoes. I am past the 30 day return period otherwise I would return them. I don't run in these shoes I only walk, but putting them on has become an issue as the tongue tends to shift while wearing them.

New Balance shoes widths have changed. The same style purchased last year in same size and width is much narrower than a 4 EEEE. Foot hangs over side of shoe.

I have purchased New Balance tennis shoes for years since I have a wide foot and they are usually the only brand that comes in wide sizes that work for me. I have worn 8 4e for years. I have recently purchased two pairs of that size and both were to small width wise. One of the pairs was a an 840 and exactly the same shoe I currently have that fits fine. I noticed that my old shoes were made in China and the new ones in Viet Nam. Seems like the new ones are running smaller.

I always buy new balance and had them last for years. I bought this 6 months ago, don't wear them everyday and the soles are worn down.

The picture/color of the shoe displayed isn't an accurate color. The photo of the shoe during the order appeared to be black, but was actually grey. NB doesn't allow customers to cancel their order. NB needs to show a clear actual photo of the shoe which depicts the true color. NB website shows fuzzy computer generated images of their shoes. Also, based on this color debacle, I can't buy NB shoes again. NB needs to allow customers to cancel or change their order when a problem is discovered. Come on New Balance you guys are better than this. Shoes are expensive, hire someone to improve that weak website.

Not the proper size. I have purchased many 4E shoes and they all were sized correctly . This product is extremely than 4E. This inconsistency is truly a gigantic flaw in a USA made product. If these types of irregularities continue this name brand will definitely suffer fro customer satisfaction!!!

I have had these shoes for 1 month and the tread is already worn away. New balance should be ashamed of themselves for such a poor quality sole. $125 for one month of daily wear is completely unacceptable, I only put like 3-4 miles a day on them which works out to about 100 miles since I first put them on. New balance used to stand for hard wearing quality shoes but honestly after owning these 840s I seriously doubt I will buy another new balance pair.

the fit was smaller and narrower than I expected. Zappo's service, however, was excellent.

The right shoe was different than the left shoe and did not fit my foot properly. The part that cupped my heel was not correct or deep enough, allowing my heel to slide up and down when I walked. I was not pleased with the poor craftsmanship. The shoes were returned.

I have a narrow foot and have ordered three pairs of shoes. The first shoes had a sewing defect that created a knot in the inside left heel and created a hot spot on my heel. Sent them back. Ordered another, same size etc. These were too short. Sent them back. Ordered another pair and this one is also defective in the right inside heel. The lining bunches up making the shoe unwearable. These are going back. Think I will give up on New Balance.....

NB wreaked the last neutral running shoe for those who require a roomy forefoot.
I wore out my 840v3's and bought these. Toes go numb now, also causing pain in my knees.
Went back to my worn out v3's and everything is fine.
NB Please fix!!! They do seem better built than the v3 just not roomy anymore, they tried to make them stylish making the forefoot a little narrower.

This shoe was suppose to replace the prior 826 but is no where close to that. I am still waiting for a return label.

I've had the NB 1080 which was a great shoe. But apparently NEw Balance has decided to focus on the 840 which is a cheap, subpar shoe. A bad fit, bad for running, almost as bad as a pair of Nikes or Keds. I'll be returning the pair I bought and going in search of 840s which I am having trouble locating.
