The shoes fit my feet perfectly right out of the box. Excellent support. Love 'em. The 840v4 are my "go-to" work out shoes from here on out.

This is an excellent "neutral" shoe to use with custom orthotics. I have serious problems with plantar fasciitis. Very comfortable shoe! I've been wearing the 840v3's for several years, and I believe the v4 is an improvement in comfort and style.

Perfect fit and xtra comfy. Been really happy with new balance.

I bought these shoes for our grandson and he loves them. He is autistic and 19 years old, but didn't know how to tell us his feet hurt. He kept saying he had spider feet and only wanted to wear his slides. We finally got him to a podiatrist and he told us all kinds of things that were wrong with his feet and causing him to walk strangely and hurting his legs and back. He got inserts and he hated them. So we tried different shoes again and different sizes and he still was having trouble. They told us his feet were wide, but they swam around in the shoes. So I remembered that I had bought a pair of these 840's for my husband who has narrow feet and they felt too wide for him. So we tried a pair and they were the magic ticket. My grandson is so happy with these shoes that when he got to school the next day he showed them to everyone. He doesn't mind wearing them even after he gets home from school! I would say to try them, its easy to send back if they 'for you, but we are going to buy a couple more pairs for him to have before they go to v5, they never seem the same when they upgrade!

Since I wear custom made orthotics I have a difficult time finding shoes to accommodate the orthotics. Some New Balance shoes state that they are 4E wide but they are still a bit too tight. The 840v4 has just the right width toe box which makes it a perfect fit for me. I wish other styles of New Balance would have the same wide toe box.

Great shoe. Definitely fits true to size (14 narrow for my foot). Lightweight, comfortable, great shoe.

This is my second 840 purchase. Many times I see reviews where NB will bring out a new version of the same shoe and something changes from the previous edition. WELL, THAT'S NOT THE CASE HERE!. These are just as comfortable and wearable as my first pair. MY biggest complaint is the utter lack of color choices. If I had a D width foot, I'd be in hog heaven with varying color choices. To quote Steve Martin.....but NOOOOOOOOOOO......all we 4E feet guys get is either blak on black or dreary, drab 2 Shades of Gray. NEw Balance! My old 840s were denim blue and lime green! Cool non blah colors! How about giving us gun boat footed guys some choices?!?! That's the only reason for 4 stars and not 5. 5 stars for the shoe and the purpose it serves, minus a star for the COMPLETE LACK of STYLE.

I usually take a 4E with New Balance so I first ordered that size. That was too wide and my foot floated in them so I ordered 2E and they fit perfect. The toe box gives plenty of room and I feel when compared to my other shoes that these where a half size larger. The shoes are perfect and very comfortable.

This is my 2d pair of 840 V.4 & I love them! plus I used to wear 840v.3..had 3 pairs of those in succession. Plenty of toe room, ties hold ankles firmly. Have had compliments on them.

Love these sneakers..becasue they accommodate my hammer toe and bunion. I also have flat feet, and use an orthotic. Only disadvantage is I had to remove the inner sole that came with the sneaker, whiich is soft..But, I still bought two pairs.

I love these sneakers because they are wide enough to accommodate my bunion, hammer toe, and flat feet! The sacrifice is that I'm a woman, and these are Men's sneakers..Size 7 1/2 4E..so although i swoon over all of the wonderful bright colors available in Womens' sneakers...alas...I must remind myself that my FEET LOVE these sneakers..and don't care at all what color they are! For comfort, they are the greatest! I also know now that with New Balance Sneakers, I need the Straight Last..or SL in the description because I have 'Flintstone' feet..they do not 'curve' and the Straight Last shape of this New Balance sneaker has this Straight Last shape.

Fourth pair of NB840V3/4. Still a great shoe!!

I like this NB 840v4 so much ordered second pair different color. great fit. nice full toe box (seems NB only one has this) and good cushioning. Great shoe!

My husband has been wearing these for years. Zappos always has a nice selection and fast service.

Great shoes. The fit is a little different than in the previous model, the v3, but for my feet it still works. I can't tell whether they actually changed the last or whether the change in fit is due to different construction techniques. The 840 appears to be the only New Balance model that still has a roomy toe box. All the other New Balance models I have tried in the last few years have a toe box that has been decreased in length, if not in width.

The NB 840v4 fits and feels great. Been wearing daily for a month run 6.5 mi daily x 7day wk. Im switching back to New Balance! I need the full toe box that seems only NB makes. I wear 10.5 EE. For past year been wearing Brooks Ghost 10 which felt great except toe box wasn't wide enough for me. The New Balance 840 has good cushioning also.

This is a neutral shoe which I have flat feet and custom orthotics. The orthotics fit very well without the feeling that your heel is going to come out of the shoe.
