This shoe has great styling, comfort, and stability. The fit is absolutely amazing for my wide flat foot.

I have very flat feet that cause knee pain. When I wear these shoes I have no pain. I am an avid walker. 5-10 miles per day. When they get wet they dry out quickly and do not stink.

I've worn the 840 over the last decade or so sampling each version. I thought the v3 near was perfect for me, but the v4 is just as comfortable, if not more so, and has dropped two nitpicks I had with the v3. The v3 used round laces, which I hate, and the eyelets tend to shred flat laces. The v4 uses flat laces with some stretch, which I didn't think I'd like at first, but they have grown on me quickly. The v3 also had a loop at the start of the tongue that the laces threads through that seemed to only make it difficult to tighten the first few rows of laces, thankfully that is missing on the v4. Finally, I really like the dark charcoal color of the v4.

I have three pair of New Balance shoes, one for everyday and one I keep clean for "special" occasions where informality is acceptable, and one for really grubby work. (I have black and brown dress shoes for more formal occasions.) My two regular pair of NB shoes are different styles. My everyday shoes wear out in about 2 years mostly because I get them dirty. If the shoes are still structurally OK I keep them for really dirty jobs, discarding them when they are uncomfortable or disintegrate. I find the model I chose to be substantial, holding form easily for a couple years.

I walk two hours every day with the running shoes that I purchased & they feel comfortable on my feet. I would recommend these shoes to people walking or running!! I walk inside or out with them in dry or wet weather. They fit like a glove and are comfortable on any surface that I walk on.

After owning and enjoying this shoe several time in the past, I am glad to see they were once again improved, with the v4 release. The comfort has been outstanding. Great job!

I've been buying from this lineage of shoe for over a decade as the model number change slowly over the years. This is what I wear daily as well as what I wear for running. My orthotics fit in nicely, and they're very comfortable. While I haven't done it with this particular shoe yet, I've thrown all of my others in the washer after a sweaty game or a muddy run, and they come out great (just stand them up against a wall and dry them in front of a fan for a few hours). I have big dumb feet (perfectly flat, wide toe box, toes like fingers), and these shoes don't give me any trouble, although I buy half a size up from what a normal foot would buy because I need to fit my toes in comfortably. Years and years ago, I tried on a pair of an ancestral model in the store, got the sizing just right, and I've just been buying size 11 4E ever since. I got this color because they're a little less noticeable given their darker colors. I'd prefer an all black version, but this is fine.

First off, These are the 3rd pair of shoes I have bought made with the SL-2 last. These shoes give you just a touch more room in the toe-box while retaining the heel sizing to prevent slippage (which you get if you just get a half size larger shoe size). Also, these shoes have the knit mesh upper which give additional flex. They do this but at the same time make the mesh water resistant in the front and side areas. This way, if you walk or run in the rain, you're feet don't get wet from water splashed up on the toe area. Great shoe!

This is my third pair of the 840V4. They are a wonderful shoe And I would buy them again and again

Recommended by my sports/knee Dr, so have worn for several years. Super comfortable, great support, keeps my knees and ankles in a good place. All I will wear. Wish there were more color choices, such as the previous version white.

Durable, like the narrow size choice, using for both long distance training and Marathon Racing, works well with orthotics

I had a very specific need in the shoe I was looking for .. the online product filter made it easy to pick out shoes that would likely work for me, and Although I returned all the pairs I ordered (9), I was very satisfied with my overall experience.

I wore out my last ones so I bought another pair. I love them and all NB shoes.

Great light weight shoe with air breathing upper and a soft sole. This shoe is great for walking and running. I also use them for riding my hybrid bicycle. Comfortable for shopping and goofing off, too.
