Love these boots. The wine color is beautiful. They fit perfectly. I have the short ones too. My last Melissa boots are almost 5 years old and I still wear them all the time.

I have these in an 8.5, brown, and they are absolutely gorgeous. I wear an 8.5 M and they fit as my other Frye 8.5 boots and shoes fit. I am between sizes so I also tried the 8, however, it was too tight on my foot so I sized up. The width is perfect for an average calf (13.75 in my case). The straight leg jeans I had on went right into the boot with room to spare. If anything, the opening might be a bit large; I had on the regular ones, not wide calf. I liked the black too, but the colors in the brown were too gorgeous to pass up. The only thing that worries me is they are slippery on carpet, but are ok on tile, hard wood, etc. I usually buy Fryes with the lug heel for traction.

First let me say I love FRYE. The leather they used to make these boots is top notch. I'm a 10 1/2 so I usually order up when a company doesn't have half sizes. I didn't do that this time; I ordered a 10. They fit and there's plenty of room in the toe box. They were a little hard to get on at first but after the second time wearing them it wasn't so hard. I love these boots!!!!

After four tries, I finally found the right Frye boots! Apparently I have ginormous calves, and I wanted boots that didn't have a stretchy back, and these it the bill. The shale color is a cool brownish gray, and I can already tell they will gets lots of use. Just ordered the black, hope they are just as awesome. Merry Christmas to me!

Bought the Melissa Button boots in black 5 years ago and have worn the heck out of them. So comfortable and still look great. Wanted to go for the brown this time for some variety - do not think I will be disappointed.

My 3rd pair of Fryes and not disappointed! So happy I decided to order the extended calf based on reviews. The fit is perfect. Looking forward to adding these to my rotation. Thanks Frye.

Theses are one of my favorite boots, so soft and fit like a dream. I own other Frye boots which I love. Very happy girl.

Beautiful boots! This is the closest I could get in the color I wanted (would have liked a little more brown, whereas the redwood has a tinge of brown). I am normally a 6.5 and wear a 7 in running shoes. I got a 7 because I wanted room for thick socks. Turns out they were waaaaay to big. I compared them to other shoes I have and there was a surprising discrepancy. I'm returning and ordering a 6.5, hopefully it's a match. Other than the size issue, these are fantastic quality and style.

I just got these boots in yesterday, and love them! They do run about a half too full size too large i am normally between a 7.5 and 8 in shoes and in my Frye boots (usually leaning more towards a 7.5 but sometimes an 8) I own several pairs of Frye boots as well as there shoes, I have the Jenna, harness 12r, Veronica slouch tall, and Veronica tanker for a couple references, as well as the ivy slip on and the sienna cross strap, and run a 7.5 in all but 2( the tanker and the sienna) these I did go down to a 7 and there will be room in the length once I break them in width wise for some warmer socks, I had purchased both the 7 and 7.5 based on the other review that they ran large, and the 7.5 was big and flopped to the floor as I walked, definitely to much room, so I kept the 7 which was perfect, to be honest I didn't try it but the 6.5 might have even fit as well but I like just a little room in the toe bed. For reference I'm 5'7" normally 117lbs and am usually a size 2/26 in clothes, my foot size is on the narrow side of normal but I'm not a true narrow at all. I am 7 months pregnant right now but my feet never change size or swell during pregnancy and I will say even with the added weight of the baby these boots are very comfy so I know they will be even more so after I'm not preggers anymore, I highly recommend these as a good fall/winter staple boot, they will go with anything and will only get more comfy as I wear them, I did end up getting them in the cogniac color and love the more rugged look of this leather and color.

These boots are beautiful and true to size. The leather is of exquisite quality and I love the button detail. They will be my fall and winter go to's for years to come! And of course, the leather smell is delightful! :)

I read the reviews. I was ready for the fight!!! There was NONE! My foot and leg fell right in!!! So much so that I had to return them! Sadly they were too big! I wanted a half size smaller. Unfortunately they were not available in the color I wanted. The Redwood was stunning!! The fit was loose in my calf. My husband said it looked awkward. It was even too loose around my ankle. I was so nervous after reading everyone’s reviews! I truly expected a battle! Basically if you have an average foot and an average calf. You’re good. Order 1/2 size down. Frye runs big. That is where I failed.

Actually I was surprised how easy it was to slip the boots on AND off. But everyone is different. In fact the boot was almost too roomy around my ankles but I suppose I'll take up the slack with some thicker socks when it comes time to wear them. I even put some orthotic inserts in them for extra comfort and surprisingly there was room enough for those too. The boots look beautiful. I bought my 1st pair of Frye's back in Boston when they first came out. Had them for years and even my daughter wore them when she came of age!

These boots were a present for my daughter's birthday. She loved the quality and look of them. She said the leather was amazing. Unfortunately the were too tight on her calves. She is going to reluctantly exchange them.

I ordered the Slate color in size 9.5 (my regular size in most other brands) and they were too large, but I really liked the style and color. Zappos did not have a size 9 in Slate, so I got the Redwood ones to try on for size (and I thought that I might like the unique color.) While they fit my foot, they seemed a bit more "rigid" than the Slate pair and the toe a bit wider/rounder (which might just be an optical illusion because of the Redwood is lighter in color than the Slate.) BTW, I did not have any of the issues that others have complained about with getting my foot into this boot. Either Frye made a change to the ankle design since those reviews were written, or I just have a really tiny heel-to-ankle volume. I could easily put them on without any sock and also with a thick sock. I love that these don't have a zipper and I can just pull them on. There is a bit of room between my calf and the boot, but not too much. I found a pair of Slate size 9 on Amazon, so I am hoping those look like the 9.5s that I have but will fit better in the foot.

Shipping was SO FAST! The boots are well made and a great investment piece. I order a size 9 wide calf even though I've never had to buy a wide calf before. But due to reviews I went wide just in case - the wides are still too tight! But I was prepared for this and used leather conditioner and a hair dryer to stretch them out a bit - which was super easy and I'm very happy with my purchase.

Oh Melissa Button 2, how I wanted to spend a lifetime with you. These boots were stunning out of the box. Everything I wanted. The rich leather look and smell, the quality construction and attention to detail, the dark redwood color. We were destined to spend many years together. But alas, some relationships just don't work out. I had a really, really hard time getting these on (and I grew up on a farm where we wore cowboy boots that needed a boot jack to remove). The only way I could get them on was with super thin or no socks, which sort of defeats the purpose of a boot. If I'd gone up a size, they would have been too long. The only thing I can figure out is my metatarsal/tarsal joint over my arch (yeah I had to look that up) sits particularly high which makes the whole pointed foot maneuver tougher to get into boots (and that part of my foot gets irritated by a lot of shoes so I know it sits high). Once I got them on, the seam near the ankle rubbed my ankle and that would just bug me. I don't think it was a break-in period kind of fix. Oh, I have smaller calves so it's hard for tall boots not to do the big boot gap thing. These had a little bit of gap on me at the top, but they still looked great. It was a deliberate style gap that will work. Anyway, if these fit your foot, they are stunning and quality beauties. I wish you the best in your relationship!

A little too much of a cowboy boot style for me but still cute. I have very narrow feet so width wasn't a problem. Ended up ordering a different Frye style in 7 1/2 but that was a little too tight in the toe area so I'm probably closer to an 8 in Frye boots. If you think you are between sizes, go up to the next half size.

These are beautiful but the pull on style (no zipper) makes it really hard to get them on and off. Frye boots are gorgeous and these are no exception but you need to e very limber to wear/remove them and efforts to do so could really scuff the boots. Also these arrived looking like they had been worn :(

I'm very excited about these boots! It's the most I've ever invested in any pair of shoes, but I did so without hesitation. The leather is rich, clearly full-grain and not some composite, with handsome imperfections and lots of character. I ordered these at the same time as another pair of brown knee-high boots, and there was no comparison. The other ones (which weren't especially cheap) looked like plastic next to these. Two complaints, both temporary: 1) These STANK for a good week, from whatever tanning or sealing chemicals they use on the leather. They smelled so bad I got a headache and had to keep them outdoors for a couple days until the fumes died down. 2) I made the mistake of walking way too far in these on the first day, and gave myself terrible blisters on the backs of my ankles, where the leather folds/creases as you stride. I wish I'd thought to wear thicker socks or preventative band-aids. However, this is real leather, and I'm confident that in time it will soften and stretch (and that my battered feet will heal and develop some strategic callouses).

narrow in the calf, but otherwise very nice. However the packaging was very poor. Did not come in frye box and boots was not packaged very nicely for an almost $300 pair of boots. I have ordered frye boots before that were packaged very nicely to insure not getting scratched during shipping.

Length/size was true for me with thin socks, however, just somewhat narrow, but should stretch since they are quality leather. What I do not like is the variation in size across the sewn vamp between the left and right boots. Should not have such an issue due to cost and Frye reputation. Could barely get my right foot into the boot! Have my wooden shoe tree wedged inside to hopefully put some stretch on it. I don’t mind paying more for quality, but I do expect quality control for the $$$.

The fit was ok except for the fact that at 5'3" the boots hit too close to my knees, otherwise very beautiful boots.
