I bought this shoe for walking and light jogging after hearing good things about it from a relative who has gotten several pairs. It has good support and feels like it was built for function, not fashion like some others I've tried. It has substantial arch support that took a little getting used to. I got a size larger than my usual size based on other ratings I read as well as suggestions from the manufacturer about sizes of other brands I've worn. This seemed to work out well. I liked all the available color combinations. The shoe is light, but styling is slightly clunky, however I bought it mostly for function. I use them about 3 times a week.

I normally wear Nike Pegasus and I wanted to try something different. I have heard avid runners rave about the Hoka brand. I like how the shoe feels very structured but has ample padding. It definitely runs at least a half size large. I normally wear a 7.5 and I’m returning for the 7. I may want to put an insole in them that has a bit more arch support. The only thing I don’t like are the looks- they have an orthopedic look.

Comfortable, good looking shoes. Trying to find the right size to work with my orthotics .My normal size seemed a little large so tried the 8.5 but it's too snug. I gave it a 4 for overall since it's wasn't my first or second choice of color. Still searching for the perfect shoe for me.

I loved the Clifton 3 but these felt more narrow in the toe box and my foot tended to lean into the inseam rather than stay centered, which doesn’t work for me at all. A larger size would have been too big so am returning and will try something new. I will miss the Clifton 3 which was perfect for me. Hope Hoka responds with a similar model at some point!

Recommended to me by a friend and I love them! I'm a newer runner and previously wore Nike, but Clintons are so much more comfortable!

I am an avid runner and triathlete and have run (and placed) in several endurance races with these shoes. I have been a Hoka fan for about 4 years after a skiing accident injured my knee for running and triathlon. Hokas were the only shoe able to cushion the impact enough for me to run again. I was an addict of the Clifton 2's and went through 10 pair before they were discontinued! I hated the Clifton 3's-too narrow, hot spots and not enough cush. I am a lover of the Hoka 4's and am in my second (almost 3rd) pair. LOVE them. However, I am a supinator and I am finding these shoes breaking down faster than the 2's ever did. That would be the only reason for one less star. Otherwise they are incredibly comfortable, responsive and give a smooth run with happy feet the whole way. I have gone through several marathon seasons without much complaint, which never happened before Hoka One One.

I am enjoying the Clifton 4 for running. So far the fit is good, no discomfort after using them and they actually look pretty cool too. The color is nice. Runs true to size.

I LOVED my Clifton 3 pair! I get that when a shoe is upgraded (like Clifton 3 to Clifton 4) that there are slight changes to the design. What ever changes went into the 4 just didn't work for me. My feet bothered me after my first run, which I never experienced in the Clifton 3's. That doesn't mean that these aren't great shoes! I did wind up returning these and with some guidance from Hoka's awesome customer support I have placed an order for a Vanquish 3 pair and can't wait for them to arrive on Friday! I hope I fall in love with this new shoe like I did my Clifton 3 :)

I was disappointed that this shoe didn't come out of the box ready to go as my recent shoes have done. Although I had ordered this exact same shoe 6 months ago, my new Hokas were stiffer and more narrow in the arch. It took a few runs to get them broken in but things are going better now.

I have about 80 miles on these shoes. I went to my specialty running store with my old shoes that only had 300 miles on them and a pretty good plantar fasciitis flare up going on. Switched to the Hoka Clifton 4 (my first Hokas) and my feet are feeling much better. I wear Superfeet in all my running shoes as well.

I am still debating on this shoe. I took a half size smaller. Initially I felt like these were crazy comfortable. walked around my house in them. When I went for a run they felt comfortable, offering cushioning. However, I have had lower back pain since....hmmm...not sure its related to the shoe or not...

I wanted to love this shoe. The top of the shoe was perfect for my narrow foot. Great roomy toe box. Length good. But couldn't get used to the rocker bottom. My foot couldn't relax.

I have chronic pain on the bottom of my feet and these are heavenly for walking around. My only disappointment is that they lack traction on wet pavement, so they're not good on rainy days.

I wore these shoes for a half marathon and long mile training for my upcoming marathon. Usually after 12 miles, the balls of my feet are extremely sore. Not with the Clifton 4s. However, I do get a strange rub blister at my arch where the shoe's upper attaches. Only my left foot has this rub spot. I thought I'd try the wides and see if that helped, but it didn't. I got an even bigger blister. I've talked to a few other runners that are in the Clifton 4s and they too have had a similar experience. It's not even on the initial break-in runs, it's after they have a few miles on them. I hope Hoka can figure out how to fix this. My feet love them but I can't keep dealing with these blisters. I love the shoe but need this issue fixed if I'm going to keep buying them.

I really needed this shoe in a wide. Overall, the shoe is very comfy and I would buy it again but only if it came in a wide size. The support and comfort of the shoe is amazing.

I was introduced to this brand when I started teaching Les Mills Body Step class and was having foot, knee, and hip discomfort and pain. I was referred to this shoe to help better align my feet during my class and other workouts. Since I started wearing this shoe I have not had any discomfort or pain. These shoes have been wonderful with the variety of workouts I do such as bodypump, Bodystep, and strong by Zumba. I do not wear them to dance because the grip isn't appropriate but if they had a good dancer shoe with this type of support I could be all in a Hoka fitness gal.

I love my Cliftons (version 1) and wanted another pair to replace them. Unfortunately, this version (4) is not nearly as cushioned, and also feels tighter in the toe box. These might be comfortable enough for someone without arthritis, but for me, I'm returning for an Altra.

My last pair of running shoes were $150 saucony trail running shoes with $80 insoles. I run cross country and I am impressed by how well these shoes have done for me on the trail. I don't like a ton of toe drop and it was nice to be able to buy something a little cheaper with more cushion.
