warm, comfortable, easy to walk in, generally first class

If you have to live in Maine, these are the only boots you'll need. As an older man, my greatest fear is falling and breaking something. I find the Arctic soles amazing and can not understand why anybody would settle for less. What's the price of a new hip?

Received these boots just in time for my trip to snowy Michigan. Single digit temps and several feet of snow and I'm walking warm and dry. I've been a long time Merrell wearer and the fit, even with thick socks, is comfortable and what I expect. The zippered side makes putting them on and taking them off simple and quick. Worth every penny I paid.

These are far superior to average winter boots. I use them for winter-weather hiking as well as local snow conditions.

Great fit, no slip on icy driveway

Bought these boots in NYC. Hands down the most comfortable, light weight waterproof boot. Wore only 1 pair of socks and kept my feet warm all day. Walked 30 miles while in NYC so I can definitely say they withstood the comfort test.

Purchased these boots about 2 months ago. Comfortable and good to about 40 degrees. Very durable. Only negative is the top from ankle up fit very loose. Used for hunting so I was able to tuck pants inside boot. Wish they has laces to tighten up.

Comfortable & warm, but I wish the soles didn't wear out after a year. I walk 3-5 miles daily.

I normally wear a 11 wide, the 11 1/2 Medium fit well. Only slip on boots I've been comfortable wearing. Kept my feet comfortable temperature in very chilly 35 degree wet conditions. I'm 70, probably keep younger feet warm down to 30 degree temperatures. Very light weight and easy to get on and off. Very satisfied!

This are the lightest boots I've ever worn. They have been really good so far by keeping my feet warm and dry. The other reviews say they fit the same as the mocs but I disagree. They run about a half size larger. Meaning my mocs are 11 regular and the boots could have been a 10.5 regular..maybe wide. Due to this half size my right heal bone gets blistered after a couple hours of hiking. I'm hoping they break in more. Other than that they have been great!!

I've had this boot for two years and it's the most comfortable boot I've ever worn. I only wish Merrell made this boot for summer wear as well. I mow grass for a living and the waterproof leather keeps my feet dry in morning grass but the boot gets pretty hot in the summer heat. My friends work in construction.and love the boot but say it's just too hot for summer wear so many of them despite loving them have switched to a brand they can wear year around. Would have given 6 stars out of 5 it it was cooler in the summer.

While I am more of an urban trekker and weekend chore warrior, the boots are warm and comfortable in low teens winter this far. I'm 300 pounds with flat, wide feet on the short side of size 13. Based on other reviews, I went with a size 14 and with medium thick ski socks, 14 seems big but I almost think 13 may have been on the tight side. The biggest issue I have is that I have stove pipe lower legs and the boots are a chore to get zipped up in the morning. I'm concerned that if I take them off later in the day, I won't be able to get them zipped again. I wish the shaft was an additional half inch in diameter.

Comfortable and ease of the zipper is nice. Ankle support is limited however, I expected that with a zipper boot. Working in slushy snow, the boot may be waterproof, however the zipper did leak and my foot was wet. : (

I've had these for about a year and they are warm enough for most days in Maine. They keep out the slush and are generally a good warm winter boot. I caught one on something right after I purchased them and the rubber separated from the leather near the toes; some super glue fixed it, but I was surprised how easy it happened. The zipper stays up fine.

I bought these a couple of months ago and waited to see how they worked out. Merrell's run a bit small for my feet, so I'm normally a 9 and I ordered a 10. The fit was perfect right out of the box. When the snow started these boots were in their element. My feet were always warm, even when the ground was frozen and I was standing about. The don't accumulate snow in the treads, so I get better grip. The rubber strip inside the zip tends to block the zip, which is a bit annoying when putting them on but pushing it inside before pulling up the zip solves that. Taking them off when coming indoors is fast and easy, I appreciate that when I'm tired and I just want to get them off and relax. I wish they were maybe an inch or so higher, my pants leg tend to hang up around the top of the boot. Tucking my pants leg in does not help, they just pull out. Overall, they are very good boots and seem to be well made.

Great boot... but not a "step in and zip up" as I had hoped for. Wanted a non bulky boot that was safe to drive in.

I got these boots for the hilly and poorly shoveled sidewalks along my "just north of Boston" mile long walk to and from the train station. They are difficult to get on and off, but once on they fit just fine. They are warm, but not the warmest boots I own. For a deep freeze you'll want warmer socks. They also look good. But I didn't get them for that. I got them for the Vibram Arctic Grip soles. The stuff works. It's not a miracle worker, but I feel slightly more confident. They don't work well with slush, but that's to be expected. As of this writing I've only had these a couple of weeks. I'm trying to not wear them a lot since that Vibram sole wears out more quickly than normal material. All in all though I'm happy with them. I hope they hold up.
