Your feet will get wet. Love the comfort but are not water proof if you wear them all day

This review is for guys whose feet run warm to hot. I liked the look and features of the coldpack but it is my least used winter boot. Dog walks and kid stuff happens with NF Chilkat or Salomon casual winter shoe. I use these for cold snowy rocky mountain evening outings primarily and will wear a nordic sock (not a thick sock, but something I would wear for outdoor activity). There is no ventilation in these boots, so your feet will get hot, sweat, and then feel cold. I've also tried several inserts to make these boots more comfortable with little success. The artic grip works, but your feet have to land flat on a surface to feel the effect of the technology. Merrell needs to take these back to the lab, because they are on to a stylish yet functional boot, but could use some more work. I am a regular Merrell wearer and just purchased the thermo cross and own many pairs but this one I'm not inclined to recommend.

Pros: Comfortable Warm Water proof Fit well for semi wide feet Easy on/off Easy to clean Cons: Loose fit Very little ankle support I would not risk lengthy hikes w these If you're simply looking for a casual winter waterproof boot that's easy to put on and take off, the buy. If you're looking to use as more of a sturdy walk/short hike on a rainy, muddy, snowy, type boot choose another model.

Bought this boot in November. Fits great and very comfortable. Just what I was hoping for but by Feb I started having water seeping into the toe cap area. So not waterproof at all. Getting some delamination of the toe cap to the upper. To bad otherwise it would have been perfect.

The zipper on these boots is weak. I bought a pair of these boots a year ago and liked them immediately. Comfortable, warm with good grip on snow and ice. Last month the zipper broke on the right-hand boot. But the zipper is far too light duty for a boot. It is a YKK number 5, made of nylon, the size used on women's dresses. So, I am going to have to cut the zipper out and sew in a metal number 7 zip, as is used on another pair of boots that I have. It's a shame, good boots spoiled by the wrong zipper.

These were a good boot to start with. Comfortable and dry. But, after wearing them for a couple of months the toe protection started coming unglued at the crease points near the sole area and continued to grow. After this started water would get into the sole and feet would get wet. Tried gluing the piece back down but they area is a flex area and won't hold. Boot needs a redesign.

Nicely built boot. The fit was good in the foot but too small at the top to allow me to zip them up. Needed an additional inch of circumference to zip it up and be comfortable. So unfortunately they took a hike back to the warehouse without me in them.

TL;DR - Decent boots overall, but definitely some downsides. So, I'm a mail carrier. I walk a lot daily and I always look for new boots to hold up to tough winters as much as they hold up to walking. I've heard a lot of good things about Merrell boots, so I figured I'd give em a shot. I bought a pair of these bad boys a couple months ago to finish out the winter in since my old pair wore out. They are definitely good boots overall. Here are some of my personal pros and cons of these boots after about 2 months of beating the pavement and snow. Pros - Little to no "break-in" time. These boots fit like a glove right away. They felt like they were made for my feet. It was amazing. - The zipper is nice. I never have to worry about laces and they are easy off after a long day. - I think they are pretty stylish. I like to look good, and they definitely do that for me. - They are super light weight. For what I do, this is a huge plus cause I'm not dragging around extra weight all day. Cons - The lack of traditional laces makes for a lack of ankle support. And there's nothing you can do about it. If you like really tight fitting boots, I'd advise to stick with laces. They also seem to have widened out over time making them more loose. - I can probably just blame it on all the walking, but the seams are already starting to pull apart. The waterproof-ness hasn't been compromised yet, but it's still not a great sign. - the ice technology on the bottoms or whatever it is.. isn't helpful at all. It's neat and all, but I didn't notice any difference on patches of ice between these and my old boots. Overall: I don't think I'll buy these specific boots again because what I need in a boot is not here. I'll definitely buy merrell again though. It would be nice if we could have laceless and still have the ankle support, but beggars can't be choosers. Hi

Love the look and the initial feel of these boots, but after only a few steps, the inner cuff that provides support for the lower half of the boots pressed in on both sides, rubbing against my ankles. Unfortunately, felt like shabby construction/design...returned!

Received the boots as a gift for Christmas. Was very excited to use, specially during rainy days. Sadly, I've worn them 4 times and water started seeping in boots Disappointed with wet feet! Need assistance to remedy the problem. Thanks!

It seemed like a great boot, just too narrow. I could barely slide my foot in. The opening for my calf was also too tight (and my calves are average size) so I couldn’t zip them all the way up. If you have an extra narrow foot, these would probably be great for you. To give you an idea of the width, they’re about 1/8 inch wider than a dollar bill. If they sold these in a wide size, I’d immediately order a pair in the wide. These are exactly what I was looking for otherwise.

Warm shoes. Easy off and on which is great. Good on icy surfaces. Not enough support in the sole for my liking. Very tiring when worn all day.

Well made but even after ordering 1/2 size over shoe size, they are so tight that I'm sure they will cut off circulation. A " wide" option would help. I like Merrill products but was disappointed with the sizing.

Not insulated enough for -20F freezer work. Second day and their construction isn't holding up to the work environment very well either. I'd say a month or two of life out of these maybe. Far too pricey for my intended use. Probably more suitable as a casual boot for temps above 0F.

I work in Breckenridge, CO outdoors for parking so I am on my feet 6-8 hours a day 5+ times a week in these boots. Below is my experience with them for the last 3 months. Pros: Comfort- feet don't bug me and I wear them a ton. Warmth- only a 200 gram boot so with wool socks I am comfortable down to about 20, it's cold from 10-20 and below 10 my feet do get quite cold. This is expected but I prefer cold feet over sweaty feet. Style- looks good. Traction- excellent traction on ice and snow. It's obviously not as good as spikes and I still slide around but it's much better than previous boots. Zipper- easy to take on and off. Cons- Waterproof(or the lack of)- standing in powdery snow 2-6 inches for 2-3 hours a day, the inside of the boot is completely wet from the sole to the sides to the top. Since I have wool socks it's not terrible but I was surprised at how much moisture is inside the boot. Even if I just walk through deep snow for 20 minutes the boots become wet. I have worn merrels for years including Moab's while backpacking Europe for months, among others. I am only disappointed with the waterproofness in these boots. Over the next 8 months I'll be backpacking Asia, and I was dead set on Moab's but now may consider other brands.

Would be a great boot if the arches could be removed. Very high and uncomfortable arch molded into this boot. Had to return.

bought these for/with my wife, have a pair in Mens 12 myself. love them for snow/isy road walking. no cold feet yet, down to mid teens temperatures. HOWEVER: the pair for my wife, 7.5 mens... came and the two feet were different sizes. one a wider, measurable by 1/2 inch in circumference around the toe box. she called foul!, and we sent them back for replacement as defective.

While the boot's shell is, I expect, waterproof it is hard to see, without belows around the zippered opening, how the boot would be in any water higher than the bottom of the zipper which is about 2-3 inches from the sole. Also the uppers are very stiff so you'll need plenty of padding, either socks or natural.

I ordered these boots in December and they only survived 10 weeks before the stitches started failing and the boots are falling apart. I've had the same pair of Merrell MOAB for years but these have been a very big disappointment with regard to durability, Especially at this price.

I ordered these boots because they look good and I could slip them on. When they came I liked the looks and the fit was perfect. But when I walked on a hard surface in them it felt like there was little to no padding on the heel and in the foot bed. I like to walk a lot all winter for exercise and felt these would not work for me. I've had five pairs of Merrells and they've all been well padded. Perhaps to keep the weight down they reduced the amount of padding in these. I also felt they were not very well insulated. Bottom line I returned them. I was a little worried because I had thrown the packaging out before I decided to return them. Regardless I couldn't use the boots and had to send them back. Merrell accepted them and gave me a refund. I'm still very happy with Merrell and they way they treat customers. These boots were just not what I thought they would be. All's well that ends well though.

These are probably good for city people walking down flat icy sidewalks but not good for real people on icy mountains. I live at 10,000 feet in the Colorado mountains and I have already almost fallen 3 times with these boots on. I wish I just bought some real ice boots now because they were not cheap and I should have put my money elsewhere for something that does work. I have a bad back and can't fall anymore! They need to test these in ice skating rinks and if you can run across then they can be considered ice boots!

Product fit, good socks help in keeping feet warm when using snowblower, your supplied foot bed is less than marginal. Inside pad by the zipper catches the zipper if lowered to base. The ice grip tread is good in snow will slip when walking on ice.
