Love the jacket, would not pick the grey color one. That was my bad in selection. I would highly recommend this jacket to people!! (Just don't pick the grey color, unless you like to wash it frequently.) One thing to note, there was a piece of cardboard? Some brown debris stuck in between the stitches. I manage to take it out of the stitches but it loosen the stitch. So that kind of sucks... hopefully mine was the only defect!

This looks great and gives a great insulation around the chest area. I am a 178 pound, 176cm so M went fine with me. My only concern was around the waist area, where I felt north face needs to research and design. I have owned Canada goose too and the only thing that I felt differentiated the two brands was the fit (apart from the super expensive cg price tag). Having said that, the color is decent and multiple layers give incredible insulation. I would recommend to any friend who wants to beat this arctic weather. I like multiple pocket design as it provides flexibility when I snowboard! Cheers..

Powder skirt snaps do not fit inside the thermoball liner, which can be unzipped as if to be used separately but to do so is awkward.

I like the style, fit, and everything about it. I have not worn it on a really cold day, so I cannot verify its
warmth, but so far it is keeping warm on mildly cold days.

Nice ski jacket. You need to wear the inner thermoball layer separately in order to use the snow skirt ... otherwise you'll feel the draft creeping up the jacket on cold, windy days. Thermoball layer could benefit from a chest pocket to keep your phone warm.

I bought this as a replacement to an old snowboard jacket, and have used it several times while snowboarding. In general, it has been a very good choice. I've used it in weather including snowing, cold and blowing, as well as sunny and rising temperatures. The coat is very comfortable, is made of top of the line fabrics, construction is outstanding, with very high attention to detail.
The coat is very warm, both with the removable liner and without as a shell. Wrists can be cinched down with velcro, to provide as tight a seal as desired. There are five pockets on the exterior; two secured by zippers on the bottom sides, two with flaps secured by velcro on the front bottom, and one on the chest for lift passes or cellphone. In addition, there are two zippered pockets in the liner. The hood is detachable, and accommodates a helmet. The liner is a very nice down coat that can be worn separately, zips in and out quickly, with attach points at the back collar and end of each sleeve.
The only drawbacks I found to the coat are with small details, rather than overall performance. I found the inside pockets in the liner difficult to access; the coat needed to be unzipped to the bottom and pulled wide open to get to the pocket. There are no chest level interior pockets, which would have been handy and easier to access while on a chair lift. The main zipper has no fob, so it is difficult to raise and lower without removing gloves. And finally, the hood drawstrings are almost impossible to find or even feel while the coat is on and gloves are worn. Consequently, it will not stay up over a helmet, which is a little frustrating.

The shell material is a bit stiff compare to Gor-Tex buy other than that, it is a great jacket.

Seems strange that the inner jacket has to be worn inside out but I guess that's so you can use the pocket. One would think they could design it differently. Otherwise the jacket seems pretty good.

I bought this jacket in diesel blue and the actual color was lighter than the pic so I ended up returning it. I was bummed because this would have been the perfect skiing jacket for me.

Needs more pockets inside the jacket, particularly in the inside of the shell.
Middle kind of bunches up when squatting but not a deal breaker.
The wrist-pocket with the goggle cloth is a really good touch, would be good if they had a small hook in their to permanently hold a ski pass (that scans)

This coat is not as warm as I expected it would be, but with a sweater underneath it can pretty much get me through a New York City winter. It is, however, a great coat for shoveling snow. It provides enough warmth without causing you to overheat. It is light, comfortable and water resistant.
I originally ordered a medium size coat, but it was way too tight and I exchanged it for a large size at a North Face store. The large fits me better, but the sleaves are slightly too long. I am 5'5" and this is the only large size garment I own.

I was mainly looking for an everyday insulated layer. I had tried on a standalone Thermoball jacket and liked it. Thought I would kill 2 birds with one stone and get the 3-in-1 version so I had a new outer layer as well. The 3-in-1 is a really nice jacket... the engineering/features are great.
The Thermoball inner layer felt very different than the standalone Thermoball. I didn't really like the feel of the fabric and didn't think it was heavy enough for what I was looking for.
The outer layer was great.
One of the main drawbacks in my opinion is that both the inner & outer layers are pretty boring visually. The monochrome solid color (grey in my case) just felt blah compared to other North Face jackets that I've owned. Having looked at other NF jackets recently, it seems to be the latest style. Personally not my favorite. I would prefer some contrasting (black) features (e.g. panels, shoulders, etc.) which you typically see with NF products.
Overall, I do think this is a very nice jacket. It just wasn't what I was looking for. Thinking about how I wanted to use the jacket, I had the following priorities:
1) Use inner layer as an everyday insulated option
2) Outer layer alone
3) Combined Inner & Outer layer
After trying on the jacket, I think it's best suited for:
1) Outer layer alone
2) Combined Inner & Outer layer
3) Use inner layer as an everyday insulated option

Was hoping to get a replacement for my older Hyvent series but this one is too tight. The coat is a great feeling and looking coat but unfortunately not very wide. 5'10" 250 with pretty broad shoulders and a slight gut. Bought the XXL and it is still a little too tight. The gut part is fine but the shoulders are restrictive and it was tight under the arms around the chest. I've tried the Thermoball Plasma and it had more room (probably because it's a one piece and not a triclimate) but doesn't have the snow skirt like their skiing jackets. Unfortunately they don't offer too many of their high end ski jackets in bigger sizes. Additionally the hood is huge! I know it's meant to fit a helmet but really you could fit 2 heads in there.

Best Winter Jacket I have every purchased. I had a Roots jacket with a 650 down fill and it is not nearly as warm as this one. For such a high performing jacket I am surprised that it is very light . The only issue I have is with the hood. Does not cover the head properly and exposes you face to windchill. If they made a cozier hood I think this would have been one of the best jackets in the market.

This is great quality jacket, but the arm length is too long and hat size although it would fit great over a helmet is not suited for every day wear. At this price point, it should be perfect for all types of wear and true to size.

I just got this jacket a couple weeks ago and I would admit, I like it, minus the hood. The hood is obviously designed to fit over a helmet, however it would be nice if it was insulated. Without the insulated hood, I have to wear a hat. My previous winter jacket did not require this.
I read the issues about the armpits angled to high or the sleeves being long, however in my opinion, those features help eliminate cold spots and provide more warmth so I would not worry about them.
Other than the issue with the hood, I walked 2 kilometers in -20 celsius (-30 wind chill) weather with a few extra layers (fleece + sweater) and only noticed the cold on my cheeks.
If they sold an insulated hood for this jacket (that came separately) I most certainly would buy it.

This is a really great winter coat. I originally picked up the 'Thermoball Triclimate Jacket', and had to return that one because it was just simply not warm enough for Minnesota winters. Then I picked up this jacket and it is definately warmer! The outer shell is very durable (waterproof, windproof) and the inner liner keeps you warm. This jacket's fit is the only concern I have, it feels tight around the shoulders, so you may want to go a size up if you are thinking about picking up this jacket.
I really appreciate all the features on this jacket. The hood is not insulated, but the outer shell is very durable and in my opinion it is one of the better hoods you can have on a coat. There is a great goggle/glasses wipe pocket on the left arm which I have never seen before. The length on this coat is great as well. The outer shell is a bit longer than the inner liner, but if you are buying this coat you probably want something for winter conditions so a short jacket wouldn't be desireable anyways.
Overall I really like this jacket, I appreciate the 'thermoball' liner because it slips over clothing easily so if you are wearing a long-sleeved shirt/sweatshirt/sweater under the coat it slides on easily. If you are in the market for a new winter coat check this one out, it won't disappoint if you live in cold climates!
