I just received the MEN'S THERMOBALL SNOW TRICLIMATE PARKA and it is warm in cold weather. We just hit a cold week, not getting above 20 degrees and this jacket is warm and comfortable. I can't wait to get it on the slopes next week and test it out in the snow.

Great jacket! I bought this for my husband for Christmas and he loved that he could take the lining out for a lighter jacket. We went skiing and the jacket was great for staying warm and dry on the mountain slopes.

This jacket is nice because it looks nice on, but it has come awkward design choices. I am writing all the negatives in this review because most people just put the good, but the main reason people read reviews is to find the bad and know if i do get this item what caveats may i come across compared to xyz item. Now the good/bad stuff .... I never have had a big issue with sleeves, but i noticed these sleeves fall far to low - if i got a medium the arm pit section sits too high and the jacket feels as if it'll break on me and im not an enormous guy, the difference between medium and large is a lot. The pocket on the arm is awkward because the sleeve wrist adjustment wraps the material over toward the outside of the body causing a weird outward torque on the sleeve ends. Another issue i have is with the parka pockets sitting at a 90 degree angle, who thought this would be great? Looking at the body you would see that reaching for your pockets located in this area you would not enter it at a 90 degree angle from the body, would you? NO, you would enter at about 40-60 degree angle like a human not a robot aka Bender. The next thing is that although i know the function of the jacket is for skiing, people buy "winter activity" related jackets because they are made for more drastic conditions you should be uncomfortable in this jacket. This means if you are standing at a bus stop for 20 minutes you shouldn't be cold, feel uncomfortable, be wet etc. so this jacket in theory fits the bill, like most TNF jackets, this jacket in function holds up well. The other issues are with the face coverage and the hoody. The jacket middle zipper pulls the face blocker up too high causing you to have the material rub against your face, so if you dont have a beard this could be more irritating. Lastly the hoody fastening system is terrible if you have gloves, it is to tiny to reach around if you have fat fingers, which i do not have, but the system is too seamless and hampers function.

We have been looking at the coat for a while. My boyfriend has big arms and a broad chest. Some of the tri-jacket systems were tight in this area but this one fit comfortably. The price was the only slow down point for us.

This coat is a jack of all trades. If it's super cold, I wear the whole thing. If it's mild out, I wear the shell. If it's in the 40's, I just wear the inner layer.

We bought a tri-climate for our daughter for the holidays last year and she loves it so much (keeps her warm, looks great on her, she likes how versatile it is - winter coat, fall coat, and rain coat all in one. So we decided to buy one for our son for his birthday this year and hopefully it will keep him warm in Big Rapids, MI where it is usually the coldest place in Michigan in the lower peninsula.

This is a great winter jacket but do to the bulky liner jacket, wearing thicker base layers can restrict movements. I also would have liked a non removable hood.

It is not Winter yet here, so I can't comment on the warmth. This is my first North Face jacket. My previous jackets were from Patagonia. There is a difference in sizes between the companies as is expected. I got the wrong size and had to send it back for a larger size. I had measured myself, and then the website changed to a question & answer widget that calculated size. This worked much better for me and I got a jacket that fit right the second time. If I can edit this review I will post comments when Winter hits so I can review it better.

Quality product but is just too expensive. I was in a hurry and did not shop around. Next time I will look at other brands.

I bought this for general purpose cold weather applications for temps from 40 degrees down to below zero. I was surprised to experience that my shoulders were could even at 36 degrees, which has never happened with any other coat.

I own an older model of the thermoball triclimate jacket, and the fit was great; just the way I like it. I ordered this new one to add some color to the one I currently have, which is jet black. The jacket is too big for its size; I felt like swimming inside the jacket. The down feels too thin, and misses the bands that would let it stay in place on your wrists. Furthermore, the pockets in the down do not have zippers, which would not secure the things that you will be placing there. In the end, I had to return the jacket.

This is a good quality jacket, but the fit was tight around the hips. It was a little restrictive.

I was looking for a jacket with an insulated layer, so I could wear less layers overall. very warm, so I guess this jacket accomplished that. Ive now worn it on stormy powder days and hot sunny days, its a solid product for the price point. but there is a clear lack in quality compared to jacket in the 500+ dollar range. removing the insulated layer is easy, the vents work great, and the pockets are roomy for water bottles etc. however its missing a few amenities that would make it great. theres no interior zip pocket for your phone with a headphone wire hole, and in the insulated jacket theres no pockets at all. theres no built in snow cuff on the wrists, so snow can easily get in, maybe im just long and lanky but in the XL the sleeves still aren't long enough. the snow skirt is set too high, it sits above the insulated layer so it doesn't stop snow from getting into the waist area or in your pants. theres also only one setting on the snow skirt so you cannot adjust the tightness. overall id probably return it if I could

This jacket is great for the snow, but not the greatest for the cold. I can feel the cold right across my shoulders even in fairly moderate temperatures. Couple ticky-tacky things- the zippers are hard to use with gloves on, and the snow/wind skirt can only be engaged with the liner unzipped from the shell. I like the jacket but still have to wear my Spyder down coat as the insulation for anything below the 20's. Take note that you can not return items once they have been worn and need the original tags to be attached.

I bought this jacket for cold weather photography but it has really odd design features: If the liner is installed in the jacket: There are pit zips on the shell but the liner doesn't have any so how do you get good ventilation? There is an elastic snow skirt on the shell, but the zipper for the zip in lining blocks the snow skirt. So you can either unzip the liner to connect the snow skirt or not use the snow skirt. There is an inside pocket which is also made inaccessible by the zip in lining. The zip in lining is removable but has no pockets at all so it really isn't that useful by itself.

the jacket looked amazing but was restricted in the waist. When strapping into my board while sitting the jacket had no play around the waist area and felt as it would break when stretching

There were no inside pockets available for goggles, iPhone or gloves. All pockets were on the outside with none insulated for a phone. A real distractor.
